And it came to pass,	וַיְהִ֖י	wayhî	vai-HEE
as they journeyed	בְּנָסְעָ֣ם	bĕnosʿām	beh-nose-AM
from the east,	מִקֶּ֑דֶם	miqqedem	mee-KEH-dem
that they found	וַֽיִּמְצְא֥וּ	wayyimṣĕʾû	va-yeem-tseh-OO
a plain	בִקְעָ֛ה	biqʿâ	veek-AH
in the land	בְּאֶ֥רֶץ	bĕʾereṣ	beh-EH-rets
of Shinar;	שִׁנְעָ֖ר	šinʿār	sheen-AR
and they dwelt	וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ	wayyēšĕbû	va-YAY-sheh-voo
there.	שָֽׁם׃	šām	shahm
