அப்பொழுது தாவீதைப் பார்க்கிறதற்குச் சவுல் சேவகரை அனுப்பி, அவனைக் கொன்றுபோடும்படிக்கு, கட்டிலோடே அவனை என்னிடத்திற்கு எடுத்துக்கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான்.

கோபத்தோடு பந்தியைவிட்டு எழுந்துபோய், அமாவாசையின் மறுநாளாகிய அன்றையதினம் சாப்பிடாமல் இருந்தான்; தன்னுடைய தகப்பன் தாவீதை நிந்தித்துச் சொன்னது அவனுக்கு மனவருத்தமாக இருந்தது.

அவன் தந்தை மீது கோபங்கொண்டுப் பந்தியிலிருந்து விலகிக் கொண்டான். விருந்தின் இரண்டாம் நாளில் யோனத்தான் உணவுண்ண மறுத்தான். தனது தந்தை தன்னை அவமானப்படுத்தியதாலும் தாவீதை கொல்ல விரும்பியதாலும் யோனத்தான் கோபமடைந்தான்.
