1 தாவீது நோபிலிருக்கிற ஆசாரியனாகிய அகிமெலேக்கினிடத்தில் போனான்; அகிமெலேக்கு நடுக்கத்தோடே தாவீதுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்: ஒருவரும் உம்மோடே கூடவராமல், நீர் ஒண்டியாய் வருகிறது என்ன என்று அவனைக் கேட்டான். Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?

2 தாவீது ஆசாரியனாகிய அகிமெலேக்கைப் பார்த்து: ராஜா எனக்கு ஒரு காரியத்தைக் கட்டளையிட்டு, நான் உன்னை அனுப்பின காரியமும் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டதும் இன்னதென்று ஒருவரும் அறியாதிருக்கவேண்டும் என்று என்னோடே சொன்னான்; இன்ன இடத்திற்கு வரவேண்டும் என்று சேவகருக்குச் சொல்லியிருக்கிறேன். And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place.

3 இப்போதும் உம்முடைய கையில் இருக்கிறது என்ன? ஐந்து அப்பமாகிலும், என்னவாகிலும், இருக்கிறதை என்கையிலே கொடும் என்றான். Now therefore what is under thine hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present.

4 ஆசாரியன் தாவீதுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: பரிசுத்த அப்பம் இருக்கிறதே ஒழிய, சாதாரண அப்பம் என் கையில் இல்லை; வாலிபர் ஸ்திரீகளோடேமாத்திரம் சேராதிருந்தால் கொடுப்பேன் என்றான். And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.

5 தாவீது ஆசாரியனுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நான் புறப்படுகிறதற்கு முன் நேற்றும் முந்தாநாளும் ஸ்திரீகள் எங்களுக்கு விலக்கமாயிருந்தார்கள்; வாலிபருடைய அசம்பிகளும் சுத்தமாயிருக்கிறது; இன்றையதினம் வேறே அப்பம் பாத்திரத்தில் பிரதிஷ்டைபண்ணப்பட்டதினால், இது சாதாரணமாயிற்றே என்றான். And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.

6 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்ட சமுகத்தப்பங்களைத்தவிர, வேறே அப்பம் அங்கே இராதபடியினால் ஆசாரியன் அவனுக்குப் பரிசுத்த அப்பத்தைக் கொடுத்தான்; அவைகள் எடுக்கப்படுகிற நாளிலே அதற்குப் பதிலாகச் சூடான அப்பம் வைக்கப்படும். So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.

7 சவுலுடைய வேலைக்காரரில் ஏதோமியனாகிய தோவேக்கு என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒருவன் அன்றையதினம் அங்கே கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் தடைபட்டிருந்தான்; அவன் சவுலுடைய மேய்ப்பருக்குத் தலைவனாயிருந்தான். Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.

8 தாவீது அகிமெலேக்கைப் பார்த்து: இங்கே உம்முடைய வசத்தில் ஒரு ஈட்டியானாலும் பட்டயமானாலும் இல்லையா? ராஜாவின் காரியம் அவசரமானபடியினால், என் பட்டயத்தையாகிலும், என் ஆயுதங்களையாகிலும், நான் எடுத்துக் கொண்டுவரவில்லை என்றான். And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.

9 அதற்கு ஆசாரியன்: நீர் ஏலே பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே கொன்ற பெலிஸ்தனாகிய கோலியாத்தின் பட்டயம், இதோ, ஏபோத்துக்குப் பின்னாக ஒரு புடவையிலே சுருட்டி வைத்திருக்கிறது; அதை நீர் எடுக்க மனதானால் எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோம், அதுவே அல்லாமல் வேறொன்றும் இல்லை என்றான்; அப்பொழுது தாவீது: அதற்கு நிகரில்லை; அதை எனக்கு தாரும் என்றான். And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.

10 அன்றையதினம் தாவீது எழுந்து சவுலுக்குத் தப்பியோடி, காத்தின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகீசிடத்தில் போனான். And David arose and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.

11 ஆகீசின் ஊழியக்காரர் அவனைப் பார்த்து: தேசத்து ராஜாவாகிய தாவீது இவன் அல்லவோ? சவுல் கொன்றது ஆயிரம், தாவீது கொன்றது பதினாயிரம் என்று இவனைக்குறித்தல்லவோ ஆடல் பாடலோடே கொண்டாடினார்கள். And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?

12 இந்த வார்த்தைகளைத் தாவீது தன் மனதிலே வைத்துக்கொண்டு, காத்தின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகீசுக்கு மிகவும் பயப்பட்டு, And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.

13 அவர்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் தன் முகநாடியை வேறுபடுத்தி, அவர்களிடத்தில் பித்தங்கொண்டவன்போலக் காண்பித்து, வாசற்கதவுகளிலே கீறிக்கொண்டிருந்து, தன் வாயிலிருந்து நுரையைத் தன் தாடியில் விழப்பண்ணிக் கொண்டிருந்தான். And he changed his behavior before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.

14 அப்பொழுது ஆகீஸ்: தன் ஊழியக்காரரை நோக்கி: இதோ, இந்த மனுஷன் பித்தங்கொண்டவன் என்று காண்கிறீர்களே; இவனை நீங்கள் என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தது என்ன? Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me?

15 எனக்கு முன்பாகப் பயித்திய சேஷ்டை செய்ய, நீங்கள் இவனைக் கொண்டுவருகிறதற்கு, பயித்தியக்காரர் எனக்குக் குறைவாயிருக்கிறார்களோ? இவன் என் வீட்டிலே வரலாமா என்றான். Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?

1 David Nnopilirukkira aasaariyanaakiya akimelaekkinidaththil ponaan; akimelaekku nadukkaththotae Davidkku ethirkonndupoy: oruvarum ummotae koodavaraamal, neer onntiyaay varukirathu enna entu avanaik kaettan. Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?

2 David aasaariyanaakiya akimelaekkaip paarththu: raajaa enakku oru kaariyaththaik kattalaiyittu, naan unnai anuppina kaariyamum unakkuk kattalaiyittathum innathentu oruvarum ariyaathirukkavaenndum entu ennotae sonnaan; inna idaththirku varavaenndum entu sevakarukkuch solliyirukkiraேn. And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place.

3 Ippothum ummutaiya kaiyil irukkirathu enna? Ainthu appamaakilum, ennavaakilum, irukkirathai enkaiyilae kodum entan. Now therefore what is under thine hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present.

4 Aasaariyan Davidkkup pirathiyuththaramaaka: Parisuththa appam irukkirathae oliya, saathaarana appam en kaiyil illai; vaalipar sthireekalotaemaaththiram seraathirunthaal koduppaen entan. And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.

5 David aasaariyanukkup pirathiyuththaramaaka: naan purappadukiratharku mun naettaுm munthaanaalum sthireekal engalukku vilakkamaayirunthaarkal; vaaliparutaiya asampikalum suththamaayirukkirathu; intaiyathinam vaeraே appam paaththiraththil pirathishtaipannnappattathinaal, ithu saathaaranamaayitte entan. And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.

6 Appoluthu karththarutaiya sannithiyilirunthu edukkappatta samukaththappangalaiththavira, vaeraே appam angae iraathapatiyinaal aasaariyan avanukkup Parisuththa appaththaik koduththaan; avaikal edukkappadukira naalilae atharkup pathilaakach soodaana appam vaikkappadum. So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.

7 Savulutaiya vaelaikkaararil aethomiyanaakiya thovaekku ennum paerulla oruvan antaiyathinam angae karththarutaiya sannithiyil thataipattirunthaan; avan savulutaiya maeypparukkuth thalaivanaayirunthaan. Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.

8 David akimelaekkaip paarththu: ingae ummutaiya vasaththil oru eettiyaanaalum pattayamaanaalum illaiyaa? Raajaavin kaariyam avasaramaanapatiyinaal, en pattayaththaiyaakilum, en aayuthangalaiyaakilum, naan eduththuk konnduvaravillai entan. And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.

9 Atharku aasaariyan: neer aelae pallaththaakkilae konta pelisthanaakiya koliyaaththin pattayam, itho, aepoththukkup pinnaaka oru pudavaiyilae surutti vaiththirukkirathu; athai neer edukka manathaanaal eduththukkonndupom, athuvae allaamal vaerontum illai entan; appoluthu David: atharku nikarillai; athai enakku thaarum entan. And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. 10 Antaiyathinam David elunthu savulukkuth thappiyoti, kaaththin raajaavaakiya aageesidaththil ponaan. And David arose and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.

11 Aageesin ooliyakkaarar avanaip paarththu: thaesaththu raajaavaakiya David ivan allavo? Savul kontathu aayiram, David kontathu pathinaayiram entu ivanaikkuriththallavo aadal paadalotae konndaatinaarkal. And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?

12 Intha vaarththaikalaith David than manathilae vaiththukkonndu, kaaththin raajaavaakiya aageesukku mikavum payappattu, And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.

13 Avarkal kannkalukku munpaakath than mukanaatiyai vaeraுpaduththi, avarkalidaththil piththangaொnndavanpolak kaannpiththu, vaasarkathavukalilae geerikkonntirunthu, than vaayilirunthu nuraiyaith than thaatiyil vilappannnnik konntirunthaan. And he changed his behavior before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.

14 Appoluthu aagees: than ooliyakkaararai Nnokki: itho, intha manushan piththangaொnndavan entu kaannkireerkalae; ivanai neengal ennidaththil konnduvanthathu enna? Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me?

15 Enakku munpaakap payiththiya seshtai seyya, neengal ivanaik konnduvarukiratharku, payiththiyakkaarar enakkuk kuraivaayirukkiraarkalo? Ivan en veettilae varalaamaa entan. Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?
