1 சாமுவேல் 8

1 சாமுவேல் முதிர்வயதானபோது, தன் குமாரரை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் நியாயாதிபதிகளாக வைத்தான். And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.

2 அவனுடைய மூத்தகுமாரனுக்குப் பெயர் யோவேல், இளையவனுக்குப் பெயர் அபியா; அவர்கள் பெயெர்செபாவிலே நியாயாதிபதிகளாயிருந்தார்கள். Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beersheba.

3 ஆனாலும் அவனுடைய குமாரர் அவன் வழிகளில் நடவாமல், பொருளாசைக்குச் சாய்ந்து, பரிதானம் வாங்கி, நியாயத்தைப் புரட்டினார்கள். And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.

4 அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் மூப்பர் எல்லாரும் கூட்டங்கூடி, ராமாவிலிருந்த சாமுவேலினிடத்தில் வந்து; Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,

5 இதோ, நீர் முதிர்வயதுள்ளவரானீர்; உம்முடைய குமாரர் உம்முடைய வழிகளில் நடக்கிறதில்லை; ஆகையால் சகல ஜாதிகளுக்குள்ளும் இருக்கிறபடி, எங்களை நியாயம் விசாரிக்கிறதற்கு, ஒரு ராஜாவை ஏற்படுத்தவேண்டும் என்றார்கள். And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

6 எங்களை நியாயம் விசாரிக்க ஒரு ராஜாவை ஏற்படுத்தும் என்று அவர்கள் சொன்ன வார்த்தை சாமுவேலுக்குத் தகாததாய்க் காணப்பட்டது; ஆகையால் சாமுவேல் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினான். But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.

7 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: ஜனங்கள் உன்னிடத்தில் சொல்வதெல்லாவற்றிலும் அவர்கள் சொல்லைக் கேள்; அவர்கள் உன்னைத் தள்ளவில்லை, நான் அவர்களை ஆளாதபடிக்கு, என்னைத் தான் தள்ளினார்கள். And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

8 நான் அவர்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணின நாள் முதல் இந்நாள்மட்டும் அவர்கள் என்னைவிட்டு, வேறே தேவர்களைச் சேவித்துவந்த தங்கள் எல்லாச் செய்கைகளின் படியும் செய்ததுபோல, அவர்கள் உனக்கும் செய்கிறார்கள். According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.

Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and show them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.

10 அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல், ஒரு ராஜா வேண்டும் என்று தன்னிடத்தில் கேட்ட ஜனங்களுக்குக் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தைகளையெல்லாம் சொல்லி: And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king.

11 உங்களை ஆளும் ராஜாவின் காரியம் என்னவென்றால் தன் ரதத்திற்கு முன் ஓடும்படி அவன் உங்கள் குமாரரை எடுத்து, தன் ரதசாரதிகளாகவும் தன் குதிரைவீரராகவும் வைத்துக்கொள்ளுவான். And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.

12 ஆயிரம்பேருக்கும் ஐம்பது பேருக்கும் தலைவராகவும், தன் நிலத்தை உழுகிறவர்களாகவும், தன் விளைச்சலை அறுக்கிறவர்களாகவும், தன் யுத்த ஆயுதங்களையும் தன் ரதங்களின் பணிமுட்டுகளையும் பண்ணுகிறவர்களாகவும், அவர்களை வைத்துக்கொள்ளுவான். And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.

13 உங்கள் குமாரத்திகளைப் பரிமளதைலம் செய்கிறவர்களாகவும், சமையல் பண்ணுகிறவர்களாகவும், அப்பம் சுடுகிறவர்களாகவும் வைத்துக்கொள்ளுவான். And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.

14 உங்கள் வயல்களிலும், உங்கள் திராட்சத்தோட்டங்களிலும், உங்கள் ஒலிவத்தோப்புகளிலும், நல்லவைகளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, தன் ஊழியக்காரருக்குக் கொடுப்பான். And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.

15 உங்கள் தானியத்திலும் உங்கள் திராட்சப்பலனிலும் தசமபாகம் வாங்கி, தன் பிரதானிகளுக்கும் தன் சேவகர்களுக்கும் கொடுப்பான். And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.

16 உங்கள் வேலைக்காரரையும், உங்கள் வேலைக்காரிகளையும், உங்களில் திறமையான வாலிபரையும், உங்கள் கழுதைகளையும் எடுத்து தன்னுடைய வேலைக்கு வைத்துக்கொள்ளுவான். And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.

17 உங்கள் ஆடுகளிலே பத்தில் ஒன்று எடுத்துக்கொள்ளுவான்; நீங்கள் அவனுக்கு வேலையாட்களாவீர்கள். He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.

18 நீங்கள் தெரிந்துகொண்ட உங்கள் ராஜாவினிமித்தம் அந்நாளிலே முறையிடுவீர்கள்; ஆனாலும் கர்த்தர் அந்நாளிலே உங்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கமாட்டார் என்றான். And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.

19 ஜனங்கள் சாமுவேலின் சொல்லைக் கேட்க மனதில்லாமல்; அப்படியல்ல, எங்களுக்கு ஒரு ராஜா இருக்கத்தான் வேண்டும். Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;

20 சகல ஜாதிகளையும் போல நாங்களும் இருப்போம்; எங்கள் ராஜா எங்களை நியாயம் விசாரித்து, எங்களுக்கு முன்பாகப் புறப்பட்டு, எங்கள் யுத்தங்களை நடத்தவேண்டும் என்றார்கள். That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.

21 சாமுவேல் ஜனங்களின் வார்த்தைகளையெல்லாம் கேட்டு, அவைகளைக் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் தெரியப்படுத்தினான். And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the LORD.

22 கர்த்தர் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: நீ அவர்கள் சொல்லைக் கேட்டு, அவர்களை ஆள ஒரு ராஜாவை ஏற்படுத்து என்றார்; அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களைப் பார்த்து: அவரவர் தங்கள் ஊர்களுக்குப் போகலாம் என்றான். And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city.
