அப்பொழுது கிபியோனியர் அவனைப் பார்த்து: சவுலோடும் அவன் வீட்டாரோடும் எங்களுக்கு இருக்கிற காரியத்திற்காக எங்களுக்கு வெள்ளியும் பொன்னும் தேவையில்லை; இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒருவனைக் கொன்றுபோடவேண்டும் என்பதும் எங்கள் விருப்பம் அல்ல என்றார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவன் அப்படியானால், நான் உங்களுக்கு என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லுகிறீர்கள் என்று கேட்டான்.

அப்பொழுது கிபியோனியர்கள் அவனைப் பார்த்து: சவுலோடும் அவன் குடும்பத்தார்களோடும் எங்களுக்கு இருக்கிற காரியத்திற்காக எங்களுக்கு வெள்ளியும் பொன்னும் தேவையில்லை; இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒருவனைக் கொன்றுபோடவேண்டும் என்பதும் எங்களுடைய விருப்பம் இல்லை என்றார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவன்: அப்படியானால், நான் உங்களுக்கு என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லுகிறீர்கள் என்று கேட்டான்.

கிபியோனியர் தாவீதிடம், “தாம் செய்த காரியத்திற்கு ஈடாக கொடுப்பதற்கு சவுலின் குடும்பத்தினரிடம் போதிய அளவு வெள்ளியோ, தங்கமோ இல்லை. ஆனால் இஸ்ரவேலரைக் கொல்வதற்கு எங்களுக்கு உரிமை கிடையாது” என்றனர். தாவீது, “அப்படியெனில், நான் உங்களுக்காக என்ன செய்யமுடியும்?” என்று கேட்டான்.
