কিন্তু রহবিয়াম প্রবীণদের কথায় কর্ণপাত করলেন না| তার বদলে তিনি যাদের সঙ্গে বড় হয়েছিলেন সেই যুবকদের একই কথা জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন,

এক জন রাজা যদি শিশুসুলভ হয় তা য়ে কোন দেশের পক্ষেই খারাপ| আবার কোন দেশের শাসক যদি ভোজন বিলাসে মত্ত থাকে সব সময় সেটা দেশের পক্ষে ভালো নয়|

এতে প্রভু যারপরনাই রুদ্ধ হলেন এবং অমত্সিযের কাছে এক ভাব্বাদীকে পাঠালেন| তিনি এসে অমত্িসযকে বললেন, “তুমি কেন হঠাত্ ভিনদেশীয মূর্ত্তির পূজো শুরু করলে? এইসব মূর্ত্তিগুলো তো এদের উপাসকদেরও তোমার বিরুদ্ধে রক্ষা করতে পারেনি|”
