Esther 3:2
রাজা নির্দেশ দিয়েছিলেন য়ে মুখ্যদ্বার দিয়ে ঢোকবার সময় প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তিকে মাথা ঝুঁকিয়ে হামনকে সম্মান জানাতে হবে| তাই রাজার সব নেতারা রাজদ্বারে হামনের কাছে প্রণত হয়ে তাঁকে সম্মান জানাতেন, কিন্তু শুধুমাত্র মর্দখয় তা করতে রাজী হলেন না|

Esther 5:9
হামন সেদিন রাজার বাড়ী থেকে খুবই খুশি মনে ও আনন্দিত চিত্তে আসছিলেন, কিন্তু রাজতোরনের সামনে মর্দখয়কে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকতে দেখে তিনি খুব রেগে গেলেন| তিনি যখন পাশ দিয়ে গেলেন তখন মর্দখয় মাথা নীচু করলেন না বা হামনকে সম্মান দেখালেন না| তিনি হামনকে কখনও ভয় পেতেন না আর এ ব্যপারে হামন খুব রুদ্ধ ছিলেন|
Esther 3:5
হামন যখন দেখলেন সত্যি সত্যিই মর্দখয় তাকে সম্মান দেখাতে অনিচ্ছুক তখন তিনি খুবই রুদ্ধ হলেন|

এসব ঘটনা ঘটার পরে রাজা অগাগীয় হম্মদাথার পুত্র হামন নামে এক ব্যক্তিকে সম্মান জানান| রাজা হামনকে উচ্চপদে উন্নীত করেন এবং তাঁর অন্য সমস্ত আধিকারিকদের থেকে উচ্চতর পদে তাকে নিযুক্ত করেন|
Esther 2:21
মর্দখয় যখন রাজপ্রাসাদের দ্বারের কাছে বসেছিলেন তিনি শুনতে পেলেন বিগ্থন ও তেরশ নামে রাজার দুই আধিকারিক যারা দরজায পাহারায ছিল, রাজার প্রতি রুদ্ধ হয়ে তাঁকে হত্যা করার চএান্ত করছে|

এখন যাও, অমালেকীয়দের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করো| ওদের তোমরা একেবারে শেষ করে দাও, ওদের সব কিছু ভেঙ্গে চুরে তছনছ করে দাও| কাউকে বাঁচতে দিও না| ছেলে মেয়ে কাউকে বাদ দেবে না| তাদের সমস্ত গরু, মেষ উটও তোমরা শেষ করে দেবে|”

তখন প্রভু মোশিকে বললেন, “এই যুদ্ধ নিয়ে একটা বই লেখ যাতে লোকরা মনে রাখে এখানে কি ঘটেছিল এবং য়িহোশূযের কাছে এটা জোরে পড়ে শোনাও যাতে সে জানতে পারে য়ে আমি অমালেকদের এই পৃথিবী থেকে সম্পূর্ণরূপে নিশ্চিহ্ন করে দেব|”
