সে সেই রাজ্যের রাজ্যপাল সের্গীয় পৌলের উপদেষ্টা ছিল৷ সের্গীয় পৌল ছিলেন একজন বুদ্ধিমান লোক৷ তিনি বার্ণবা ও শৌলকে ডেকে পাঠিয়ে তাঁদের কাছ থেকে ঈশ্বরের বার্তা শুনতে চাইলেন৷
