Amos 8
1 প্রভু আমাকে এই রকম দেখালেন: আমি দেখলাম এক ঝুড়ি গ্রীষ্মের ফল|
2 প্রভু আমায় বললেন, “আমোষ তুমি কি দেখছ?”তখন প্রভু আমায় বললেন, “আমার লোক ইস্রায়েলের পরিণাম এসে গেছে| আমি আর তাদের পাপ উপেক্ষা করব না|”
3 মন্দিরের গানগুলি শবযাত্রার করুণ গানে পরিণত হবে| প্রভু আমার সদাপ্রভুই আমায় এই কথাগুলো বলেছেন| চারিদিকে শবদেহ, নীরবে লোকে সেই সব শব দেহ বহন করে এনে স্তূপ করে ফেলে রাখবে|”
4 তোমরা যারা অসহায় লোকদের দাবিয়ে চলো, যারা এই দেশের দরিদ্র লোকদের ধ্বংস করতে চেষ্টা করছ, আমার কথা শোন!
5 তোমরা ব্যবসায়ীরা বলে থাক, “কখন অমাবস্যা গত হবে যাতে আমরা আবার বেচাকেনা করতে পারি? কখন বিশ্রামদিন শেষ হবে যাতে আমরা গম এনে বেচতে পারি? তখন আমরা দাম বাড়াতে পারব এবং মাপের পাত্র ছোট করতে পারব|আমরা ওজনের হের ফের করে লোক ঠকাতে পারব|
6 গরীবরা তাদের ঋণ শোধ করতে পারবে না| তাই আমরা তাদের এীতদাসের মত কিনে নেব| ওই সব অসহায় লোকদের আমরা এক জোড়া জুতোর দামে কিনে নেব| আমরা মাটিতে পড়ে যাওয়া গম বিয়ে করব|”
7 প্রভু তার নামে প্রতিশ্রুতি করলেন, যাকোবের গর্ব|“এই সব লোকরা য়ে সব কাজ করেছে তা আমি কখনই ভুলে যাব না|
8 সমস্ত দেশ ঐসব বিষয়ের জন্য কেঁপে উঠবে| দেশে বসবাসকারী প্রতিটি লোক মৃতদের জন্য এন্দন করবে| মিশরের নীল নদের মত সমস্ত দেশ উথাল -পাতাল করবে|”
9 প্রভু আরও বলেছেন: “সেই সময় আমি সূর্য়কে দুপুরবেলাতেই অস্তগত করব| আকাশ পরিষ্কার থাকলেও পৃথিবীকে অন্ধকারাচ্ছন্ন করব|
10 তোমাদের ছুটির দিনগুলোকে মৃতদের জন্য শোকের দিনে পরিণত করব| তোমাদের সমস্ত গানগুলি (মৃতদের জন্য) বিলাপ গীতে পরিণত হবে| প্রত্যেক লোককে শোকবস্ত্র পরাব ও প্রত্যেকের মাথায় টাক পড়াব| একমাত্র পুত্রের বিয়োগের শোকের মত শোক করাব| আর শেষটা বড় তিক্ত হবে|”
11 প্রভু বলেছেন:“দেখ, এমন দিন আসছে যখন দেশে দুর্ভিক্ষ হবে| লোকে তখন রুটির জন্য ক্ষুধিত বা জলের জন্য পিপাসিত হবে না| না, লোকে প্রভুর বাক্যের জন্য ক্ষুধিত হবে|
12 লোকে ঈশ্বরের বাক্যের জন্য মৃত সাগর থেকে ভূমধ্য সাগর পর্য়ন্ত এবং উত্তরের দেশ থেকে পূর্বের দেশ পর্য়ন্ত ঘুরে বেড়াবে| লোকরা প্রভুর বাক্যের খোঁজে এখানে সেখানে ঘুরে বেড়াবে কিন্তু তা পাবে না|
13 সেই সময় সুন্দর, তরুণ ও তরুণীরা তৃষ্ণায় অজ্ঞান হয়ে পড়বে|
14 তারা শমরিয়ার পাপেরনামে শপথ করেছিল, এই বলে, ‘হে দান, আমরা তোমার দেবতার নামে শপথ করেছি|’ আমরা তোমার দেবতা বের্-শেবার নামে শপথ করছি|’ কিন্তু তারা পড়ে যাবে এবং আর কখনো উঠতে পারবে না|”
1 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.
2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the Lord unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord God: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.
4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,
5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?
6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
7 The Lord hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord God, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:
10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:
12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.
13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beer-sheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.
Amos 4 in Tamil and English
1 শমরিয়ার পর্বতে বাশনের য়ে গাভীরা চরে বেড়াচ্ছে তোমরা শোন| শমরিয়ার ধনী নারীদের কথাই বলা হচ্ছে| বাশন য়?র্ন নদীর পূর্বতীরে অবস্থিত একটি জায়গা| এই অঞ্চলের বড় বড় ষাঁড় ও গরু বিখ্যাত| তোমরা গরীবদের আঘাত করছ| তোমরা ওই গরীব মানুষদের সর্বনাশ করছ| তোমরা তোমাদের স্বামীদের বলছ, “আমাদের জন্য কিছু পানীয় আনো|”
Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.
2 আমার প্রভু, আমার সদাপ্রভু একটি প্রতিশ্রুতি করেছিলেন, তিনি তাঁর পবিত্রতার দ্বারা প্রতিশ্রুতি করেছিলেন তোমাদের কাছে বিপদ আসবেই| লোকে আংটার সাহায্যে তোমাদের বন্দী হিসেবে নিয়ে যাবে| তোমাদের সন্তানদের নিয়ে যাবার জন্য তারা বঁড়শি ব্যবহার করবে|
The Lord God hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.
3 তোমাদের শহর ধ্বংস হবে| স্ত্রীলোকরা শহরের দেওয়ালের ফাটল দিয়ে বেরিয়ে নিজেদের ওই মৃত দেহের স্তূপের ওপর নিক্ষেপ করবে|প্রভু এই কথাটি বলেছেন,
And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the Lord.
4 “বৈথেলে যাও এবং পাপ কর! গিল্গলে গিয়ে আরো বেশী করে পাপ কর| সকালে তোমাদের বলি উত্সর্গ কর| প্রতি তিন দিনের উত্সবের জন্য তোমাদের শস্য়ের এক দশমাংশ নিয়ে এসো|
Come to Beth-el, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:
5 খামির দিয়ে তৈরি কোনো জিনিস দিয়ে ধন্যবাদ উত্সর্গ দাও| প্রত্যেককে স্বেচ্ছা উত্সর্গের কথা বলো| ইস্রায়েল, তুমি ঐ কাজগুলো করতে ভালবাস; সে জন্য যাও এবং সেগুলো কর|” প্রভু এই কথাগুলো বলেছিলেন|
And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord God.
6 আমার কাছে তোমরা যাতে আসো তার জন্য আমি অনেক কাজ করেছিলাম| আমি তোমাদের কোন খাদ্য খেতে দিই নি| তোমাদের কোন শহরেও আর কোন খাবার ছিল না| কিন্তু তোমরা আমার কাছে ফিরে আসো নি|” প্রভু ঐ কথাগুলো বলেছিলেন|
And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.
7 “তাছাড়া আমি বৃষ্টিও বন্ধ করেছিলাম- এবং সেটা ফসল তোলার তিন মাস আগেকার কথা| সে জন্য কোন শস্য জন্মায় নি| তখন আমি একটি মাত্র শহরে বৃষ্টি হতে দিয়েছি, কিন্তু অন্য কোন শহরে নয়| দেশের একটি অংশে বৃষ্টি পড়েছিল, কিন্তু দেশের অন্য অংশের জমি খুবই শুকনো হয়ে গিয়েছিল|
And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.
8 সে জন্য দুটি অথবা তিনটি শহরের সাধারণ মানুষরা জল পাওয়ার জন্য অন্য শহরে কষ্ট করে গিয়েছিল- কিন্তু সেখানে প্রত্যেক মানুষের জন্য যথেষ্ট পরিমাণে জল ছিল না| তখনও পর্য়ন্ত তোমরা আমার কাছে সাহায্যের জন্য আসো নি|” প্রভু ঐ কথাগুলো বলেছিলেন|
So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.
9 “তোমাদের ফসলগুলো রোদ এবং উত্তাপ দিয়ে আমিই মেরে ফেলেছি| আমি তোমাদের বাগান এবং দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেত ধ্বংস করেছি| পঙ্গপালরা তোমাদের ডুমুর গাছ এবং জলপাই গাছ খেয়ে নিয়েছে| কিন্তু তখনও পর্য়ন্ত তোমরা আমার কাছে সাহায্যের জন্য আসোনি|” প্রভু ঐ কথাগুলো বলেছিলেন|
I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.
10 আমি তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে সংক্রামক ব্যাধি পাঠিয়েছি, মিশরে য়েরকম আমি করেছিলাম| আমি তরবারি দ্বারা তোমাদের যুবকদের হত্যা করেছি| আমি তোমাদের ঘোড়াগুলোকে নিয়ে নিয়েছি| আমি তোমাদের তাঁবুগুলোকে শব দেহের দুর্গন্ধে ভরে দিয়েছিলাম| কিন্তু তখনও পর্য়ন্ত তোমরা সাহায্যের জন্য আমার কাছে আসোনি” প্রভু ঐ কথাগুলো বলেছিলেন|
I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.
11 সদোম এবং ঘমোরাকে আমি য়ে ভাবে ধ্বংস করেছিলাম তোমাদেরও সেই রকম ভাবে আমি ধ্বংস করেছিলাম এবং ঐ শহরগুলো সম্পূর্ণরূপে ধ্বংস হয়ে গিয়েছিল| তোমরা তখন আগুন থেকে টেনে আনা জ্বলন্ত কাঠের মতোই হয়েছিলে| কিন্তু তখনও পর্য়ন্ত তোমরা আমার কাছে সাহায্যের জন্য ফিরে আসোনি|” প্রভু ঐ কথাগুলো বলেছিলেন|
I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.
12 “সে জন্য ইস্রায়েল, আমি তোমার সঙ্গে এই কাজগুলো করব| আমি তোমার জন্য এই কাজটি করব| ইস্রায়েল, তোমার ঈশ্বরের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাত্ করবার জন্য প্রস্তুত হও|
Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
13 আমি কে? আমিই হচ্ছি সেই, য়ে পর্বতগুলোকে তৈরি করেছিলাম| আমি তোমাদের মনগুলোকে সৃষ্টি করেছিলাম| আমি লোকদের শিক্ষা দিয়েছিলাম কি করে কথা বলতে হয়| আমি উষাকে অন্ধকারে পরিবর্তিত করেছি| আমি পৃথিবীর পর্বতগুলোর ওপর দিয়ে হাঁটি| আমি কে? আমার নাম হচ্ছে যিহোবা, সৈন্যদলের ঈশ্বর|”
For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The Lord, The God of hosts, is his name.
