Job 34
1 তখন ইলীহূ কথা বলে য়েতে লাগলো| সে বলল:
2 “হে প্রাজ্ঞ ব্যক্তি, আমি যা বলি তা শুনুন| হে বুদ্ধিমান ব্যক্তিগন, আমার প্রতি মনোয়োগ দিন|
3 কারণ জিভ য়েমন খাদ্যের স্বাদ গ্রহণ করে তেমনি কান কথাকে পরীক্ষা করে|
4 অতএব, আমাদেরই ঠিক করতে দিন কোনটা সঠিক| আসুন, আমরা সবাই মিলে স্থির করি কোনটা সত্যিই ভালো|”
5 ইয়োব বললেন, ‘আমি নিষ্পাপ| ঈশ্বর আমার প্রতি সুবিচার করেন নি|
6 আমি নিষ্পাপ, কিন্তু আমার বিরুদ্ধে গৃহীত বিচার বলছে আমি একজন মিথ্যাবাদী| আমি নিষ্পাপ, কিন্তু আমি খুব বিশ্রী ভাবে আহত হয়েছি|’
7 “ইয়োবের মত আর কোন লোক আছে কি? ঈশ্বরকে অভিযুক্ত করা তাঁর কাছে জলের মত সোজা|
8 এমনকি শএুদের সঙ্গেও ইয়োব বন্ধুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যবহার করেন| ইয়োব মন্দ লোকদের সঙ্গে থাকতে ভালোবাসেন|
9 কেন আমি একথা বলছি? কেন না ইয়োব বলেন, ‘যদি কেউ ঈশ্বরকে খুশী করতে চায় সে লোক কিছুই পাবে না|’
10 “আপনারা বুঝতে পারেন| তাই আমার কথা শুনুন| ঈশ্বর কখনই মন্দ কাজ করবেন না| ঈশ্বর সর্বশক্তিমান কখনও ভুল করবেন না|
11 য়ে যা করে তার জন্য ঈশ্বর তাকে পুরস্কৃত করেন| ঈশ্বর মানুষকে তার প্রাপ্য মিটিয়ে দেন|
12 এটা সম্পূর্ণরূপে সত্য: ঈশ্বর মন্দ কাজ করেন না| যা সঠিক তাকে সর্বশক্তিমান ঈশ্বর কখনো মুচড়ে বিকৃত করবেন না|
13 কোন মানুষ ঈশ্বরকে পৃথিবীর দায়িত্ব দিয়ে নির্বাচন করেনি| কেউই ঈশ্বরকে পৃথিবীর দায়িত্ব দেয় নি| তিনিই সব কিছুর সৃষ্টি করেছেন এবং তিনিই সব কিছু নিয়ন্ত্রণ করেন|
14 ঈশ্বর যদি মনস্থ করেন য়ে তিনি তাঁর আত্মাকে এবং তাঁর নিঃশ্বাসকে পৃথিবী থেকে নিয়ে নেবেন,
15 তাহলে পৃথিবীর প্রত্যেকটি প্রাণী মারা পড়বে এবং মনুষ্য জাতি পরিণত হবে ধূলায|
16 “আপনারা যদি জ্ঞানবান হন তাহলে আমি যা বলি তা শুনুন|
17 ঈশ্বর কি করে ন্যায় ও নিয়মকে ঘৃণা করতে পারেন? তাহলে আপনি কি করে ধার্মিক ও শক্তিশালী ঈশ্বরকে ভুল বলে অভিযুক্ত করতে পারেন?
18 ঈশ্বরই একমাত্র সত্তা যিনি রাজাকে বলেন, ‘তুমি অপদার্থ!’ ঈশ্বর নেতৃতৃর্গকে বলেন, ‘তোমরা মন্দ লোক!’
19 ঈশ্বর অন্যান্য লোকদের চেয়ে নেতাদের বেশী ভালোবাসেন না| ঈশ্বর দরিদ্র লোকদের চেয়ে ধনীদের বেশী ভালোবাসেন না| কেন? কারণ ঈশ্বর প্রত্যেক মানুষকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন|
20 মধ্যরাত্রে লোকে হঠাত্ মারা য়েতে পারে| অসুস্থ হয়ে লোকে মারা য়েতে পারে| বিনা কোন আযাসে ঈশ্বর ক্ষমতাবান লোককে সরিয়ে দেন|
21 “লোকরা কি করে ঈশ্বর তা লক্ষ্য করেন| ঈশ্বর এক জন লোকের প্রতিটি পদক্ষেপ সম্পর্কে জানেন|
22 ঈশ্বরের কাছ থেকে লুকিয়ে থাকবার জন্য মন্দ লোকদের কাছে কোন অন্ধকার স্থান নেই|
23 এক জন লোককে পরীক্ষা করবার জন্য ঈশ্বরের কোন সময় স্থির করবার প্রয়োজন হয় না| একটা লোককে বিচার করবার জন্য লোকটিকে ঈশ্বরের সামনে আনবার দরকার হয় না|
24 কোন বিচার ছাড়াই ঈশ্বর শক্তিশালী লোকদের ধ্বংস করেন এবং অন্যান্য লোকদের নেতা হিসেবে মনোনীত করেন|
25 তাই ঈশ্বর জানেন মানুষ কি করে| সেই জন্য মন্দ লোকদের ঈশ্বর এক রাতের মধ্যেই পরাজিত করে ধ্বংস করেন|
26 মন্দ লোকরা য়ে খারাপ কাজ করেছে তার জন্য ঈশ্বর ওদের শাস্তি দেবেন| ওই লোকগুলোকে ঈশ্বর এমন ভাবে শাস্তি দেবেন যাতে অন্য লোকে তা ঘটতে দেখতে পায়|
27 কেন? কারণ মন্দ লোকরা ঈশ্বরকে মান্য করা বন্ধ করে দিয়েছে| এবং ঈশ্বর যা চান, ওই মন্দ লোকরা তা করার ব্যাপারে কোন তোযাক্কাই করে না|
28 ঐ মন্দ লোকরা দরিদ্রদের আঘাত করে ঈশ্বরের কাছে সাহায্য চাইতে বাধ্য করে| ঈশ্বর সেই সাহায্য চাইবার আর্তি শোনেন|
29 কিন্তু ঈশ্বর যদি মনস্থ করেন ওদের সাহায্য করবেন না, তাহলে কেউই ঈশ্বরকে দোষী বলতে পারে না| ঈশ্বর যদি নিজেকে মানুষের কাছ থেকে লুকিয়ে রাখেন কোন লোকই তাঁকে খুঁজে পাবে না|
30 এক জন মন্দ ব্যক্তিকে লোকদের ওপর শাসন করবার থেকে ও লোকদের ধ্বংসের পথে এগিয়ে দেবার থেকে দূরে রাখবার জন্য ঈশ্বর মানুষ এবং দেশের ওপর শাসন করেন|
31 ইয়োব, আপনার ঈশ্বরকে বলা উচিত্, ‘আমি অপরাধী| আমি আর কোন পাপ করবো না|
32 আমি যা দেখতে পাই না তা আমাকে শেখান| যদি আমি ভুল করে থাকি সে ভুল আমি আর করবো না|’
33 “ইয়োব, আপনি চান ঈশ্বর আপনাকে পুরস্কার দিন, কিন্তু আপনি নিজেকে পরিবর্তিত করতে চান নি| ইয়োব, এটা আপনার সিদ্ধান্ত, আমার নয়| আপনি কি ভাবছেন তা আমায় বলুন|
34 এক জন জ্ঞানী লোক আমার কথা শুনবে| এক জন জ্ঞানী লোক বলবে,
35 ‘ইয়োব জানে না সে কি বিষয়ে কথা বলছে| ইয়োব যা বলছে তা অর্থহীন!’
36 আমি আশা করি ইয়োবকে সম্পূর্ণরূপে পরীক্ষা করা হবে| কেন? কারণ ইয়োব আমাদের সেই ভাবেই উত্তর দিয়েছেন, য়ে ভাবে এক জন মন্দ লোক উত্তর দেয়|
37 ইয়োব তাঁর অন্যান্য পাপের সঙ্গে বিদ্রোহ যুক্ত করেছে| ইয়োব আমাদের অপমান করেন এবং ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে তাঁর অভিয়োগ বাড়ান|”
1 Furthermore Elihu answered and said,
2 Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
3 For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.
4 Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.
5 For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.
6 Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.
7 What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?
8 Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.
9 For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.
10 Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11 For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12 Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.
13 Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?
14 If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;
15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.
16 If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.
17 Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?
18 Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?
19 How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.
20 In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.
21 For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.
22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23 For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.
24 He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.
25 Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26 He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27 Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:
28 So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.
29 When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:
30 That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.
31 Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:
32 That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.
33 Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.
34 Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.
35 Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.
36 My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.
37 For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
Job 24 in Tamil and English
1 “এমন কেন হয় য়ে মানুষের জীবনে যখন মন্দ ঘটনা ঘটতে চলেছে তা সর্বশক্তিমান ঈশ্বর জানেন, কিন্তু তাঁর অনুগামীরা এমনকি অনুমানও করতে পারে না য়ে কখন তিনি সে বিষয়ে কিছু করতে চলেছেন?”
Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?
2 “লোকে তাদের জমির সীমারেখা সরিয়ে দেয় আরও জমি দখল করার জন্য| লোকে মেষের পাল চুরি করে তাদের অন্য চারণক্ষেত্রে নিয়ে চলে যায়|
Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof.
3 তারা অনাথদের গাধা চুরি করে| তারা বিধ্বাদের বলদগুলো বন্ধক রাখে|
They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow’s ox for a pledge.
4 তারা দরিদ্র লোকদের রাস্তা থেকে সরিয়ে দেয়| সব গরীব লোকই এই মন্দ লোকগুলোর কাছ থেকে লুকিয়ে থাকতে বাধ্য হয়|
They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
5 “দরিদ্র লোকগুলো খাবারের সন্ধানে বুনো গাধার মত মরুভূমিতে ঘুরে বেড়ায়| খাদ্যের সন্ধানে তারা খুব সকালে উঠে পড়ে| তাদের ছেলেমেয়েদের খাদ্যের জন্য তারা জনহীন স্থানে খাবার খুঁজে বেড়ায়|
Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children.
6 দরিদ্র লোকরা মন্দ লোকেদের মাঠে গবাদি পশুর জাব কাটে| মন্দ লোকেদের দ্রাক্ষা ক্ষেত থেকে তারা পড়ে থাকা দ্রাক্ষা নিজেদের জন্য জোগাড় করে|
They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked.
7 দরিদ্র লোককে সারা রাত্রি বিনা বস্ত্রে শুতে হয়| শীত থেকে নিজেদের রক্ষা করার মত কোন আবরণ তাদের নেই|
They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold.
8 তারা পাহাড়ের বৃষ্টিতে ভিজে যায়| তাদের কোন আশ্রয় নেই, তাই তারা বড়বড় পাথরগুলোর কাছে গা ঘেঁসাঘেঁসি করে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকে|
They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
9 মন্দ লোকরা কচি কচি বাচচাগুলোকে তাদের মায়ের বুক থেকে টেনে নিয়ে যায়| দুষ্ট লোকরা ধারশোধের টাকা হিসেবে গরীবদের কাছ থেকে তাদের শিশুদের ছিনিয়ে নিয়ে যায়|
They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor.
10 দরিদ্র লোকদের কোন কাপড়-চোপড় নেই| তারা উলঙ্গ হয়ে ঘুরে বেড়ায়| তারা শস্য়ের বোঝা বয়ে নিয়ে যায়|
They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry;
11 দরিদ্র লোকরা পিষে জলপাই এর তেল বের করে| যেখানে আঙ্গুর পেষা হয় সেখানে তারা দ্রাক্ষা মর্দন করে| কিন্তু তারা কিছু পান করতে পায় না|
Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.
12 এই শহরে যারা মারা যাচ্ছে এমন লোকদের দুঃখের বিষাদময কান্না তুমি শুনতে পাবে| ওই আহত লোকরা সাহায্যের জন্য কাতর হয়ে কাঁদে| কিন্তু ঈশ্বর তাতে মনোয়োগ দেন না|
Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.
13 “কিছু লোক আলোর বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহী হয়ে ওঠে| তারা জানে না ঈশ্বর কি চান| ঈশ্বর য়ে পথে চান, তারা সে পথে জীবন ধারণ করে না|
They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
14 এক জন হত্যাকারী খুব সকালে ওঠে এবং সে দরিদ্র অসহায় লোকদের হত্যা করে| রাত্রিবেলা সে এক জন চোর হয়ে যায়|
The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.
15 য়ে লোক য়ৌন অপরাধ করে সে রাত্রির প্রতীক্ষায থাকে| সে মনে করে, ‘কোন লোকই আমাকে দেখতে পাবে না|’ কিন্তু তখনও সে তার মুখ আবৃত করে রাখে|
The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.
16 রাতে যখন অন্ধকার নামে, মন্দ লোকরা বাইরে বের হয় এবং অন্যের ঘর ভেঙে প্রবেশ করে| কিন্তু দিনের আলোয, তারা নিজেদের ঘরে নিজেদের বন্দী করে রাখে এবং আলোকে এড়াতে চায়|
In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.
17 মন্দ লোকদের কাছে অন্ধকারতম রাত্রিই সকালের মত মনে হয়| হ্যাঁ, তারা ঐ সাংঘাতিক অন্ধকারের ভয়ঙ্করতাকে খুব ভালো করে জানে!
For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death.
18 “তুমি দাবী কর মন্দ লোকরা শুধু জলে ভাসমান খড়ের মত| তারা য়ে জমি অর্জন করে তা অভিশপ্ত, তাই তারা তাদের জমি থেকে দ্রাক্ষা সংগ্রহ করতে পারে না|
He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.
19 শীতের তুষার থেকে খরা এবং তাপ জল শুষে নেয়| একই রকম ভাবে, পাতাল পাপীদের হরণ করে নেয়|
Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned.
20 তার নিজের মা পর্য়ন্ত তাকে ভুলে যাবে| পোকাদের কাছে ওর দেহটা মিষ্টি লাগবে| লোকে তাকে মনে রাখবে না| অতএব মন্দত্ব একটা লাঠির মত ভেঙে যাবে|
The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.
21 মন্দ লোকরা সন্তানহীন নারীদের আঘাত করে| তারা বিধ্বা নারীদের সাহায্য করতে অস্বীকার করে|
He evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow.
22 “মহানুভব লোকদের ধ্বংস করার জন্য মন্দ লোকরা তাদের ক্ষমতা ব্যবহার করে| মন্দ লোকরা শক্তিশালী হতে পারে কিন্তু ওদের নিজের জীবন সম্পর্কে ওরা নিশ্চিত হতে পারবে না|
He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life.
23 মন্দ লোকরা খুব অল্প সময়ের জন্য নিরাপদ ও সুনিশ্চিত হতে পারে| ওরা ক্ষমতাসম্পন্ন হতে চাইতে পারে|
Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways.
24 মন্দ লোকরা অল্প সময়ের জন্য সফল হতে পারে, কিন্তু তারাও চলে যাবে| আর লোকদের মত তাদেরও ফসলের মত কেটে ফেলা হবে|
They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.
25 “কন্তু আমি বলি কে আমাকে ভুল বলে প্রমাণ করতে পারে? এবং আমার কথাগুলো কে ঈশ্বরের কাছে বহন করে নিয়ে যাবে?”
And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
