Job 41
1 “ইয়োব, তুমি কি দানবাকৃতি সামুদ্রিক প্রাণী লিবিয়াথনকে মাছ ধরার বঁড়শি দিয়ে ধরতে পারো? একটা দড়ি দিয়ে ওর জিভকে কি বাঁধতে পারো?
2 তুমি কি ওর নাকে দড়ি দিতে পারো অথবা ওর চোযালে বঁড়শি বিঁধিয়ে দিয়ে পারো?
3 লিবিয়াথন কি তাকে মুক্তি দেওয়ার জন্য তোমার কাছে আকুতি জানাবে? সে কি ভদ্র ভাষায় তোমার সঙ্গে কথা বলবে?
4 চির দিন তোমার সেবা করার জন্য লিবিয়াথন কি তোমার সঙ্গে কোন চুক্তি করবে?
5 য়েমন করে তুমি একটি পাখির সঙ্গে খেলা কর, তেমন করে কি তুমি লিবিয়াথনের সঙ্গে খেলা করবে? তুমি কি তাকে দড়িতে বাঁধতে পারবে যাতে তোমার ছোট মেয়েরা ওর সঙ্গে খেলা করতে পারে?
6 ব্যবসাদাররা কি তোমার কাছ থেকে লিবিয়াথনকে কেনার চেষ্টা করবে? ওরা কি তাকে টুকরো টুকরো করে কেটে সওদাগরের কাছে বিক্রি করতে পারবে?
7 তুমি কি লিবিয়াথনের চামড়ায বা মাথায় মাছ ধরবার বর্শা বা হারপূন বেঁধাতে পারো?
8 “ইয়োব, যদি তুমি একবার লিবিয়াথনের গায়ে হাত দাও তুমি আর কখনো সে কাজ করবে না! সেই ভয়ঙ্কর যুদ্ধের কথাটা একবার ভাবো তো!
9 তুমি কি মনে কর তুমি লিবিয়াথনকে পরাজিত করতে পারবে? সে কথা ভুলে যাও| তার কোন আশাই নেই| ওর দিকে তাকালেই তুমি ভয়ে শিউরে উঠবে!
10 তাকে জাগিয়ে দিয়ে রাগিয়ে দেবার সাহস কারো নেই| “তাই, কে আমার বিরুদ্ধে দাঁড়াতে সাহস করবে?
11 আমাকে কারো কাছ থেকে কিছুই কিনতে হয়নি| ওগুলো সব আমারই অধিকারভুক্ত|
12 “ইয়োব, আমি তোমাকে লিবিয়াথনের পা, তার শক্তি এবং তার চেহারার কথা বলবো|
13 কেউই তার চামড়ার দাম দিতে পারে না| ওর চামড়া বর্মের মত শক্ত|
14 কোন লোকই জোর করে লিবিয়াথনের মুখ খোলাতে পারে না| ওর মুখের দাঁত দেখলে লোকে ভয় পায়|
15 ওর পিঠের পেশী সারিবদ্ধ ভাবে দৃঢ়সংবদ্ধ হয়ে আছে|
16 বর্মগুলি এত কাছাকাছি বসানো য়ে ওগুলোর মধ্যে বাতাসও বইতে পারে না|
17 বর্মগুলি একে অন্যের সঙ্গে সংযুক্ত| বর্মগুলি এতই ঘন, সংবদ্ধ য়ে ওদের টেনে আলাদা করা যায় না|
18 লিবিয়াথন যখন হাঁচি দেয় তখন আলো ঝলক দিয়ে ওঠে| ওর চোখ প্রত্যুষের আলোর মত জ্বলতে থাকে|
19 ওর মুখ থেকে লেলিহান অগ্নি বেরিয়ে আসে| আগুনের স্ফুলিঙ্গ ছিটকে আসে|
20 ফুটন্ত কেটলির তলা দিয়ে য়েমন জ্বলন্ত ঘাসের ধোঁয়া বের হয়, লিবিয়াথনের নাক দিয়েও তেমনি ধোঁয়া বার হয়|
21 লিবিয়াথনের নিঃশ্বাসে কযলা জ্বলে যায়, ওর মুখ থেকে আগুনের শিখা বের হয়|
22 লিবিয়াথনের গলা ভীষণ শক্তিশালী, লোকে তাকে ভয় পায় ও ছুটে পালিয়ে যায়|
23 ওর চামড়ার কোন কোমল স্থান নেই| তা য়েন লোহার মত শক্ত|
24 লিবিয়াথনের হৃদয় পাথরের মত| তা য়েন যাঁতা কলের পাথরের মত শক্ত|
25 যখন লিবিয়াথন জেগে ওঠে, দেবতারাও তখন ভয় পান| লিবিয়াথন যখন তার লেজ ঝাপটা দেয়, তখন তাঁরা সন্ত্রস্ত হন|
26 তরবারি, বল্লম বা বর্শা যা দিয়েই লিবিয়াথনকে আঘাত করা হোক না কেন তা প্রতিহত হয়ে ফিরে আসে| ওই সব অস্ত্র তাকে একদম আঘাত করতে পারে না|
27 লোহাকে লিবিয়াথন খড়কুটোর মত গুঁড়িযে দিতে পারে| পচা কাঠের মত সে কাঁসাকে ভেঙে দেয়|
28 তীরের ভয়ে লিবিয়াথন পালিয়ে যায় না| ওর গা থেকে পাথর খড়কুটোর মতো ছিটকে চলে আসে|
29 যদি মুগুর দিয়ে লিবিয়াথনকে আঘাত করা হয়, তা য়েন খড়ের টুকরোর মতো তার গায়ে লাগে| লোকে যখন তার দিকে বল্লম ছোঁড়ে তখন সে হাসে|
30 লিবিয়াথনের পেটের চামড়া ধারালো খোলামকুচির মতো| সে কাদার ওপর দাগ করে দিয়ে যায়, য়েমন তক্তা দিয়ে ফসল মাড়াই করলে দাগ পড়ে- তেমন দাগ|
31 ফুটন্ত জলের মতো লিবিয়াথন জলকে নাড়া দেয়| সে জলের ওপর ফুটন্ত তেলের বুদবুদের মতো বুদবুদ সৃষ্টি করে|
32 যখন লিবিয়াথন সাঁতার দেয় তখন সে তার পেছনে একটি চকচকে পথরেখা রেখে যায়| সে জলকে ঝাঁকিয়ে দিয়ে যায় এবং জলকে ফেনাযিত করে|
33 পৃথিবীর কোন প্রাণীই লিবিয়াথনের মতো নয়| সে ভয়শূন্য প্রাণী|
34 য়ে প্রাণী সব থেকে বেশী গর্ব করে, লিবিয়াথন তাকেও নিচু নজরে দেখে| সে সমস্ত বুনো পশুদের রাজা| এবং আমি (ঈশ্বর) লিবিয়াথন সৃষ্টি করেছি|”
1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
2 Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
3 Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?
4 Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?
5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
6 Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?
8 Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?
11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
12 I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
13 Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?
14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.
15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
22 In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.
23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.
25 When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.
26 The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.
27 He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.
30 Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.
31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
Job 24 in Tamil and English
1 “এমন কেন হয় য়ে মানুষের জীবনে যখন মন্দ ঘটনা ঘটতে চলেছে তা সর্বশক্তিমান ঈশ্বর জানেন, কিন্তু তাঁর অনুগামীরা এমনকি অনুমানও করতে পারে না য়ে কখন তিনি সে বিষয়ে কিছু করতে চলেছেন?”
Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?
2 “লোকে তাদের জমির সীমারেখা সরিয়ে দেয় আরও জমি দখল করার জন্য| লোকে মেষের পাল চুরি করে তাদের অন্য চারণক্ষেত্রে নিয়ে চলে যায়|
Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof.
3 তারা অনাথদের গাধা চুরি করে| তারা বিধ্বাদের বলদগুলো বন্ধক রাখে|
They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow’s ox for a pledge.
4 তারা দরিদ্র লোকদের রাস্তা থেকে সরিয়ে দেয়| সব গরীব লোকই এই মন্দ লোকগুলোর কাছ থেকে লুকিয়ে থাকতে বাধ্য হয়|
They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
5 “দরিদ্র লোকগুলো খাবারের সন্ধানে বুনো গাধার মত মরুভূমিতে ঘুরে বেড়ায়| খাদ্যের সন্ধানে তারা খুব সকালে উঠে পড়ে| তাদের ছেলেমেয়েদের খাদ্যের জন্য তারা জনহীন স্থানে খাবার খুঁজে বেড়ায়|
Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children.
6 দরিদ্র লোকরা মন্দ লোকেদের মাঠে গবাদি পশুর জাব কাটে| মন্দ লোকেদের দ্রাক্ষা ক্ষেত থেকে তারা পড়ে থাকা দ্রাক্ষা নিজেদের জন্য জোগাড় করে|
They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked.
7 দরিদ্র লোককে সারা রাত্রি বিনা বস্ত্রে শুতে হয়| শীত থেকে নিজেদের রক্ষা করার মত কোন আবরণ তাদের নেই|
They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold.
8 তারা পাহাড়ের বৃষ্টিতে ভিজে যায়| তাদের কোন আশ্রয় নেই, তাই তারা বড়বড় পাথরগুলোর কাছে গা ঘেঁসাঘেঁসি করে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকে|
They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
9 মন্দ লোকরা কচি কচি বাচচাগুলোকে তাদের মায়ের বুক থেকে টেনে নিয়ে যায়| দুষ্ট লোকরা ধারশোধের টাকা হিসেবে গরীবদের কাছ থেকে তাদের শিশুদের ছিনিয়ে নিয়ে যায়|
They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor.
10 দরিদ্র লোকদের কোন কাপড়-চোপড় নেই| তারা উলঙ্গ হয়ে ঘুরে বেড়ায়| তারা শস্য়ের বোঝা বয়ে নিয়ে যায়|
They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry;
11 দরিদ্র লোকরা পিষে জলপাই এর তেল বের করে| যেখানে আঙ্গুর পেষা হয় সেখানে তারা দ্রাক্ষা মর্দন করে| কিন্তু তারা কিছু পান করতে পায় না|
Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.
12 এই শহরে যারা মারা যাচ্ছে এমন লোকদের দুঃখের বিষাদময কান্না তুমি শুনতে পাবে| ওই আহত লোকরা সাহায্যের জন্য কাতর হয়ে কাঁদে| কিন্তু ঈশ্বর তাতে মনোয়োগ দেন না|
Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.
13 “কিছু লোক আলোর বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহী হয়ে ওঠে| তারা জানে না ঈশ্বর কি চান| ঈশ্বর য়ে পথে চান, তারা সে পথে জীবন ধারণ করে না|
They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
14 এক জন হত্যাকারী খুব সকালে ওঠে এবং সে দরিদ্র অসহায় লোকদের হত্যা করে| রাত্রিবেলা সে এক জন চোর হয়ে যায়|
The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.
15 য়ে লোক য়ৌন অপরাধ করে সে রাত্রির প্রতীক্ষায থাকে| সে মনে করে, ‘কোন লোকই আমাকে দেখতে পাবে না|’ কিন্তু তখনও সে তার মুখ আবৃত করে রাখে|
The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.
16 রাতে যখন অন্ধকার নামে, মন্দ লোকরা বাইরে বের হয় এবং অন্যের ঘর ভেঙে প্রবেশ করে| কিন্তু দিনের আলোয, তারা নিজেদের ঘরে নিজেদের বন্দী করে রাখে এবং আলোকে এড়াতে চায়|
In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.
17 মন্দ লোকদের কাছে অন্ধকারতম রাত্রিই সকালের মত মনে হয়| হ্যাঁ, তারা ঐ সাংঘাতিক অন্ধকারের ভয়ঙ্করতাকে খুব ভালো করে জানে!
For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death.
18 “তুমি দাবী কর মন্দ লোকরা শুধু জলে ভাসমান খড়ের মত| তারা য়ে জমি অর্জন করে তা অভিশপ্ত, তাই তারা তাদের জমি থেকে দ্রাক্ষা সংগ্রহ করতে পারে না|
He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.
19 শীতের তুষার থেকে খরা এবং তাপ জল শুষে নেয়| একই রকম ভাবে, পাতাল পাপীদের হরণ করে নেয়|
Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned.
20 তার নিজের মা পর্য়ন্ত তাকে ভুলে যাবে| পোকাদের কাছে ওর দেহটা মিষ্টি লাগবে| লোকে তাকে মনে রাখবে না| অতএব মন্দত্ব একটা লাঠির মত ভেঙে যাবে|
The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.
21 মন্দ লোকরা সন্তানহীন নারীদের আঘাত করে| তারা বিধ্বা নারীদের সাহায্য করতে অস্বীকার করে|
He evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow.
22 “মহানুভব লোকদের ধ্বংস করার জন্য মন্দ লোকরা তাদের ক্ষমতা ব্যবহার করে| মন্দ লোকরা শক্তিশালী হতে পারে কিন্তু ওদের নিজের জীবন সম্পর্কে ওরা নিশ্চিত হতে পারবে না|
He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life.
23 মন্দ লোকরা খুব অল্প সময়ের জন্য নিরাপদ ও সুনিশ্চিত হতে পারে| ওরা ক্ষমতাসম্পন্ন হতে চাইতে পারে|
Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways.
24 মন্দ লোকরা অল্প সময়ের জন্য সফল হতে পারে, কিন্তু তারাও চলে যাবে| আর লোকদের মত তাদেরও ফসলের মত কেটে ফেলা হবে|
They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.
25 “কন্তু আমি বলি কে আমাকে ভুল বলে প্রমাণ করতে পারে? এবং আমার কথাগুলো কে ঈশ্বরের কাছে বহন করে নিয়ে যাবে?”
And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
