অম্মোনদের রাজার কাছে যিপ্তহ কয়েকজন বার্তাবাহক পাঠাল| বার্তাবাহকরা রাজার কাছে এই বার্তা শোনাল, “অম্মোনবাসী আর ইস্রায়েলীয়দের মধ্যে সমস্যাটা কি? কেন তোমরা আমাদের দেশে যুদ্ধ করতে এসেছ?”
