Mark 12
1 তখন যীশু দৃষ্টান্ত দিয়ে তাদের কাছে বলতে লাগলেন, ‘একটি লোক দ্রাক্ষা ক্ষেতের চারদিকে বেড়া দিলেন৷ তিনি দ্রাক্ষা মাড়াই করতে একটি গর্ত খুঁড়লেন, একটি উঁচু ঘর তৈরী করলেন এবং সেই ক্ষেত চাষীদের কাছে জমা দিয়ে অন্য দেশে চলে গেলেন৷
2 এরপর চাষীদের কাছে ফলের পাওনা অংশ পাবার জন্য তাদের কাছে ঠিক সময়ে তাঁর চাকরকে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন৷
3 কিন্তু চাষীরা তাকে মারধর করে খালি হাতে ফিরিয়ে দিল৷
4 তিনি আর একজন চাকরকে তাদের কাছে পাঠালেন, তারা তার মাথায় আঘাত করল,
5 এবং তাকে অপমান করল৷ তখন তিনি আর একজন চাকরকে পাঠালেন, তারা তাকে মেরে ফেলল৷ এইভাবে তিনি আরো অনেককে পাঠালেন৷ তারা তাদের মধ্যে কয়েকজনকে মারধোর করল এবং কয়েকজনকে মেরেই ফেলল৷
6 তাঁর একমাত্র প্রিয় পুত্র ছিল৷ তিনি শেষ পর্যন্ত তাঁকেই পাঠালেন, ভাবলেন তারা নিশ্চয়ই তাঁর পুত্রকে সম্মান করবে৷
7 চাষীরা তখন নিজেদের মধ্যে বলাবলি করল, ‘এই তো মালিকের ছেলে, ওর বাবা মরলে ক্ষেতের মালিক তো ওই হবে, এস! একে মেরে ফেল, তাহলে আমরা ক্ষেতের মালিক হব৷
8 তখন তারা তাকে মেরেই ফেলল ও তার মৃতদেহটি দ্রাক্ষা ক্ষেতের বাইরে ফেলে দিল৷
9 তখন সেই দ্রাক্ষা ক্ষেতের মালিক কি করবেন? তিনি এসে চাষীদের মেরে ফেলবেন এবং সেই দ্রাক্ষা ক্ষেতটি অন্যদের দিয়ে দেবেন৷
10 শাস্ত্রের এই কথা কি তোমরা পড় নি, ‘য়ে পাথর রাজমিস্ত্রিরা বাতিল করেছিল সেটিই হয়ে উঠল কোণের প্রধান পাথর?
11 এটা প্রভুই করেছেন, আর আমাদের চোখে এটা খুব চমকপ্রদ৷’গীতসংহিতা 118:22-23
12 তখন তারা তাঁকে গ্রেপ্তার করার চেষ্টা করতে লাগল, কিন্তু লোকদের ভয় পেল, কারণ তারা জানত য়ে দৃষ্টান্তটি তিনি তাদের উদ্দেশ্যেই বলেছেন, তাই তারা তাঁকে ছেড়ে চলে গেল৷
13 পরে ইহুদী নেতারা কয়েকজন ফরীশী এবং হেরোদীয়কে তাঁর কাছে পাঠিয়ে দিল, যাতে তারা যীশুকে কথার ফাঁদে ফেলতে পারে৷
14 তারা এসে তাঁকে বলল, ‘হে গুরু, আমরা জানি আপনিই সত্, এবং আপনি কোন লোককে ভয় করেন না৷ আপনি ঈশ্বরের পথের বিষয়ে সত্য শিক্ষা দেন৷ আচ্ছা, কৈসর সরকারকে কর দেওযা কি উচিত? আমরা দেব, কি দেব না?’
15 তিনি তাদের ভণ্ডামি বুঝতে পেরে বললেন, ‘তোমরা আমায় কেন পরীক্ষা করছ? আমাকে একটি দীনার এনে দেখাও৷’
16 তারা তাঁকে দীনার এনে দিলে তিনি তাদের বললেন, ‘এই মুখ এবং এই নাম কার?’ তারা তাঁকে বলল, ‘কৈসরের প্রতিমূর্তি, কৈসরের নাম৷’
17 তখন যীশু তাদের বললেন, ‘কৈসরের যা তা কৈসরকে দাও৷ আর ঈশ্বরের যা তা ঈশ্বরকে দাও৷’ তখন তারা তাঁর কথা শুনে বিস্ময়ে হতবাক্ হয়ে গেল৷
18 পরে কয়েকজন সদ্দূকী তাঁর কাছে এল যাঁরা বলত পুনরুত্থান বলে কিছু নেই৷ তারা তাঁকে জিজ্ঞেস করল,
19 ‘গুরু, মোশি আমাদের জন্য লিখেছেন, কারও ভাই যদি স্ত্রী রেখে মারা যায়, আর সে যদি কোন ছেলেমেয়ে না রেখে যায় তবে তার ভাই য়েন ঐ বিধবাকে বিয়ে করে নিজের ভাইয়ের বংশ রক্ষা করে৷
20 সাত ভাই ছিল, প্রথম জন একজন স্ত্রীলোককে বিয়ে করল আর সে ছেলেমেয়ে না রেখে মারা গেল৷
21 পরে দ্বিতীয় জন তাকে বিয়ে করল; কিন্তু সেও ছেলেমেয়ে না রেখে মারা গেল৷ তৃতীয় ভাই আগের ভাইয়ের মত বিয়ে করে ছেলেমেয়ে না রেখে মার গেল৷
22 এই সাত ভাইয়ের কেউই কোন ছেলেমেয়ে রেখে যায় নি৷ সবশেষে সেই স্ত্রীলোকটিও মারা গেল৷
23 মৃত্যুর পরে যখন তারা বেঁচে উঠবে, সে তাদের মধ্যে কার স্ত্রী হবে? কারণ তারা সাতজনই তো তাকে বিয়ে করেছিল৷’
24 যীশু তাদের বললেন, ‘তোমরা কেন এই ভুলের মধ্যে রয়েছ? তোমরা না জান শাস্ত্র, না জান ঈশ্বরের শক্তির কথা৷
25 কারণ মৃতদের মধ্যে থেকে পুনরুত্থিত হলে তারা বিয়ে করে না, বা তাদের বিয়ে দেওযা হয় না, বরং তারা স্বর্গে স্বর্গদূতদের মতোই থাকে৷’
26 কিন্তু পুনরুত্থান হবে কিনা এ ব্যাপারে মোশির পুস্তকে লেখা জ্বলন্ত ঝোপেরঅংশটিতে ঈশ্বর তাকে কি বলেছিলেন তা কি তোমরা পড় নি? তিনি বলেছিলেন, ‘আমি অব্রাহামের ঈশ্বর, ইসহাকের ঈশ্বর এবং যাকোবের ঈশ্বর৷’
27 তিনি মৃতদের ঈশ্বর নন, জীবিতদেরই ঈশ্বর৷ তোমরা বড়ই ভুল করেছ৷’
28 ব্যবস্থার শিক্ষকদের মধ্যে একজন কাছে এসে তাদের আলোচনা শুনলেন৷ যীশু তাদের ঠিক উত্তর দিয়েছেন জেনে তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, ‘শাস্ত্রে সমস্ত আদেশের মধ্যে কোনটি প্রধান?’
29 যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, ‘এটাই প্রধান! ‘শোন, হে ইস্রায়েল, আমাদের ঈশ্বর প্রভু একমাত্র প্রভু৷
30 তুমি তোমার সমস্ত হৃদয়, মন, প্রাণ ও সমস্ত শক্তি দিয়ে তোমার ঈশ্বর প্রভুকে ভালবাসবে৷’
31 আর দ্বিতীয় আদেশ হল, এই, ‘তোমার প্রতিবেশীকে নিজের মতো ভালবাসবে৷’এই আদেশ দুটি থেকে আর কোন বড় আদেশ নেই৷’
32 তখন ব্যবস্থার শিক্ষকরা তাঁকে বললেন, ‘বেশ, গুরু, আপনি ঠিক বলেছেন য়ে ঈশ্বরই প্রভু, তিনি ছাড়া অন্য কেউ নেই৷
33 আর সমস্ত হৃদয়, সমস্ত শক্তি দিয়ে তাঁকে ভালবাসো এবং প্রতিবেশীকে নিজের মতো ভালবাসা হচ্ছে সমস্ত রকম বলিদান ও উত্সর্গের থেকে অনেক ভাল৷’
34 তখন তিনি বুদ্ধির সঙ্গে উত্তর দিয়েছেন দেখে যীশু তাঁকে বললেন, ‘ঈশ্বরের রাজ্য থেকে তুমি খুব বেশী দূরে নও৷’ এরপরে তাঁকে কোন কথা জিজ্ঞেস করতে আর কারো সাহস হল না৷
35 যীশু মন্দিরে শিক্ষা দেবার সময় বললেন, ‘ব্যবস্থার শিক্ষকরা কেমন করে বলে য়ে খ্রীষ্ট দাযূদের পুত্র?
36 দাযূদ তো নিজেই পবিত্র আত্মার প্রেরণাতেই এই কথা বলেছেন: ‘প্রভু আমার প্রভুকে বললেন, ‘তুমি আমার ডানদিকে বস যতক্ষণ না তোমার শত্রুদের তোমার পায়ের তলায় রাখি৷’ গীতসংহিতা 110:1
37 দাযূদ নিজেই খ্রীষ্টকে ‘প্রভু’ বলেন৷ তবে কেমন করে খ্রীষ্ট দাযূদের পুত্র হলেন?’ অনেক লোক আনন্দের সাথে তাঁর কথা শুনল৷
38 আর তাঁর শিক্ষায় তিনি তাদের বললেন, ‘ব্যবস্থার শিক্ষকদের থেকে সাবধান, তারা লম্বা লম্বা পোশাক পরতে চায়, হাটে বাজারে লোকদের সম্মান,
39 সমাজগৃহে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আসন এবং নৈশ ভোজে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আসন পেতে ভালবাসে৷
40 এই লোকেরাই বিধবাদের বাড়িগুলি আত্মসাত্ করে, আর সেই দোষ ঢাকতে লম্বা লম্বা প্রার্থনা করে৷ ঐ সমস্ত লোকেরা বিচারে আরো কড়া শাস্তি পাবে৷’
41 যীশু দানের বাক্সের সামনে বসে, লোকেরা কেমন করে তাতে টাকা পয়সা ফেলছে তা দেখছিলেন৷ বহু ধনী লোক প্রচুর টাকা পয়সা তার মধ্যে রাখল৷
42 পরে একজন গরীব বিধবা এসে তাতে দুটি তামার মুদ্রা ফেলল, যার মূল্য এক সিকিরও কম৷
43 তখন যীশু নিজের শিষ্যদের কাছে ডেকে বললেন, ‘আমি তোমাদের সত্যি বলছি, দানবাক্সে যাঁরা টাকা পয়সা রেখেছে, তাদের সবার থেকে এই গরীব বিধবা বেশী রাখল৷
44 কারণ তারা সকলে নিজের নিজের অতিরিক্ত অর্থ থেকে কিছু কিছু রেখেছে কিন্তু এই গরীব বিধবা তার যা কিছু সম্বল ছিল, তার সবটুকুই দিয়ে গেল৷’
1 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.
2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.
3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.
4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.
7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.
10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
11 This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
13 And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.
14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar’s.
17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.
18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David?
36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
37 David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:
40 Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.
41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

1 ইফিষের মণ্ডলীর প্রাচীনদের কাছ থেকে বিদায় নিয়ে আমরা সমুদ্র পথে সোজা কো দ্বীপে এলাম৷ পরদিন আমরা রোদঃ দ্বীপে গেলাম৷ রোদঃ থেকে পাতারায় চলে গেলাম৷
And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:
2 পাতারায় এমন একটি জাহাজ পেলাম যা পার হয়ে ফৈনীকিয়া অঞ্চলে যাবে৷ আমরা সেই জাহাজে চড়ে যাত্রা করলাম৷
And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth.
3 পরে আমরা যাবার পথে কুপ্র দ্বীপের কাছে এলাম৷ আমাদের উত্তরদিকে দ্বীপটিকে দেখতে পাচ্ছিলাম; কিন্তু সেখানে আমরা জাহাজ ভেড়ালাম না৷
Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden.
4 আমর সুরিয়ার দিকে এগিয়ে গেলাম, সোর শহরে জাহাজ থামানো হল, কারণ সেখানে জাহাজ থেকে কিছু মাল নামানোর ছিল৷ আমরা সেখানে কিছু খ্রীষ্টানুসারীর দেখা পেয়ে তাঁদের সঙ্গে সাতদিন কাটালাম৷ পবিত্র আত্মার মাধ্যমে তাঁরা পৌলকে জেরুশালেম য়েতে নিষেধ করলেন৷
And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
5 কিন্তু সেখানে থাকার সময় শেষ হলে আমরা রওনা দিলাম এবং যাত্রাপথে এগিয়ে চললাম৷ সেখানকার খ্রীষ্টানুসারীরা সকলে নিজেদের পরিবার ও ছেলে-মেয়েদের সাথে করে নিয়ে এসে আমাদের বিদায় জানাতে শহরের বাইরে এলেন৷ সেখানে সমুদ্রতীরে আমরা হাঁটু গেড়ে বসে প্রার্থনা করে পরস্পরের কাছ থেকে বিদায় নিলাম৷
And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.
6 এরপর আমরা জাহাজে উঠলাম আর তাঁরা বাড়ি ফিরে গেলেন৷
And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.
7 সোর থেকে যাত্রা করে আমরা তলিমায়িতে পৌঁছালাম৷ আর সেখানকার খ্রীষ্ট বিশ্বাসী ভাইদের শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়ে তাদের সঙ্গে একদিন থাকলাম৷
And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.
8 পরের দিন আমরা তলিমায়ি থেকে রওনা হয়ে কৈসরিয়ায় এলাম৷ সেখানে সুসমাচার প্রচারক ফিলিপের বাড়িতে উঠলাম৷ ইনি সেই সাতজন মনোনীত লোকদের মধ্যে একজন৷ আমরা সেখানে তাঁর সঙ্গে থাকলাম৷
And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.
9 এই ফিলিপের চারটি কুমারী কন্যা ছিলেন, এরা ভাববাণী বলতে পারতেন৷
And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
10 সেখানে বেশ কিছুদিন থাকার পর যিহূদিয়া থেকে আগাব নামে একজন ভাববাদী এসে আমাদের সঙ্গে দেখা করলেন৷
And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.
11 তিনি আমাদের কাছে এসে পৌলের কোমর বন্ধনীটি নিয়ে নিজের হাত পা বেঁধে বললেন, ‘পবিত্র আত্মা এই কথা বলছেন, ‘এই কোমর বন্ধনীটি যার তাকে জেরুশালেমের ইহুদীরা এইভাবে বেঁধে অইহুদীদের হাতে তুলে দেবে৷’
And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
12 সেই কথা শুনে আমরা ও যীশুর অন্য অনুগামীরা পৌলকে অনুরোধ করলাম য়েন তিনি জেরুশালেমে না যান৷
And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13 পৌল এর জবাবে বললেন, ‘তোমরা এ কি করছ? তোমরা এভাবে কান্নাকাটি করে আমার হৃদয় কি ভেঙে দিচ্ছ না? খ্রীষ্টের নামের জন্য আমি জেরুশালেমে কেবল শৃঙ্খলাবদ্ধ হবার জন্য যাব তাই নয়, আমি এমন কি মরতেও প্রস্তুত!’
Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
14 তাঁকে যখন আমরা জেরুশালেমে যাওয়া থেকে বিরত করতে পারলাম না, তখন আর অনুরোধ না করে চুপ করে গেলাম আর বললাম, ‘প্রভুর ইচ্ছাই পূর্ণ হোক্৷’
And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
15 এরপর আমরা প্রস্তুত হয়ে জেরুশালেমে রওনা হলাম৷
And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.
16 কৈসরিয়া থেকে কয়েকজন অনুগামী (খ্রীষ্টানুসারী) আমাদের সঙ্গে চললেন৷ তারা ম্লাসোন নামে একজন লোকের বাড়িতে আমাদের তুললেন৷ ইনি ছিলেন কুপ্রের লোক, গোড়ায় যাঁরা খ্রীষ্টানুসারী হয়েছিলেন, ইনি তাদের অন্যতম৷ তাঁর বাড়ীতে আমাদের নিয়ে যাওয়া হল, য়েন আমরা সেখানে থাকতে পারি৷
There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.
17 জেরুশালেমের বিশ্বাসীরা আমাদের দেখে বড়ই খুশী হলেন৷
And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
18 পরদিন পৌল আমাদের নিয়ে যাকোবের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাত্ করতে গেলেন৷ মণ্ডলীর প্রাচীনেরা সেখানে ছিলেন৷
And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
19 সেখানে পরস্পর শুভেচ্ছা বিনিময়ের পর পৌল তাঁর কাজের মাধ্যমে অইহুদীদের মধ্যে ঈশ্বর য়েসব কাজ করেছেন, তা বিস্তারিতভাবে জানালেন৷
And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
20 এই কথা শুনে তাঁরা ঈশ্বরের প্রশংসা করতে লাগলেন৷ তাঁরা পৌলকে বললেন, ‘ভাই, আপনি তো জানেন, হাজার হাজার ইহুদী আজ খ্রীষ্টবিশ্বাসী হয়েছে৷ কিন্তু তারা তাদের মোশির বিধি-ব্যবস্থা পালন করতে বড়ই উত্সাহী৷
And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:
21 তারা আপনার বিষয়ে এই কথা শুনেছে য়ে অইহুদীদের মধ্যে বাসকারী প্রবাসী ইহুদীদের আপনি নাকি মোশির বিধি-ব্যবস্থা অনুসারে চলতে বারণ করেন৷ আপনি তাদের ছেলেদের সুন্নত করা বা ইহুদী রীতিনীতি মেনে চলা নাকি নিষেধ করেন!
And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
22 আমরা কি করব? তারা নিশ্চয় শুনবে য়ে আপনি এখানে আছেন৷
What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
23 তাই আমরা যা বলি আপনি তাই করুন৷ আমাদের মধ্যে চারজন লোকের একটা মানত আছে৷
Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;
24 আপনি তাদের সঙ্গে নিয়ে শুচিকরণের অনুষ্ঠানে য়োগ দিন, এজন্য তাদের যা খরচ পড়ে আপনি তা দিয়ে দিন৷ আর তারা য়েন তাদের মাথা নেড়া করে৷ তাহলে সকলে জানবে য়ে আপনার বিষয়ে য়ে সব কথা ওরা শুনেছে সে সব সত্য নয়, বরং আপনি নিজে মোশির বিধি-ব্যবস্থা যথারীতি পালন করেন৷
Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
25 অইহুদীদের মধ্য থেকে যাঁরা খ্রীষ্টবিশ্বাসী হয়েছে, তাদের উদ্দেশ্যে আমরা লিখেছি য়ে:‘তারা য়েন প্রতিমার প্রসাদ, রক্ত, গলাটিপে মারা প্রাণীর মাংস না খায় ও য়ৌন পাপ থেকে দুরে থাকে৷”
As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
26 তখন পৌল সেই কয়েকজনকে নিয়ে তাদের সঙ্গে নিজেকে শুচি করলেন৷ তারপর মন্দিরে গিয়ে শুচিকরণ অনুষ্ঠান কত দিনে সম্পূর্ণ হবে ও তাদের প্রত্যেকের জন্য কবে নৈবেদ্য উত্সর্গ করা হবে তাও জানালেন৷
Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
27 সাতদিন প্রায় শেষ হয়ে এসেছে, এমন সময় এশিয়া দেশের কয়েকজন ইহুদী মন্দিরের মধ্যে পৌলকে দেখতে পেয়ে তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে নানা কথা বলে লোকদের উত্তেজিত করে তুলল, আর পৌলকে ধরে চিত্কার করে বলতে লাগল,
And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,
28 ‘হে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা, এদিকে এগিয়ে এসে সাহায্য কর! এ সেই লোক, এই লোকই আমাদের জাতির বিরুদ্ধে বলে বেড়াচ্ছে, আমাদের বিধি-ব্যবস্থার বিপরীত শিক্ষা দিচ্ছে আর এই মন্দিরের বিরুদ্ধেও কথা বলছে৷ এই হল সেই লোক য়ে সর্বত্র এই শিক্ষা দিয়ে বেড়াচ্ছে৷ দেখ মন্দিরের চত্বরে সে গ্রীকদের ঢুকিয়ে এই মন্দির অপবিত্র করেছে!’
Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.
29 কারণ তারা এর আগে পৌলের সঙ্গে ইফিষের ত্রফিমকে শহরের মধ্যে দেখেছিল, মনে করেছিল পৌল তাঁকে মন্দিরের মধ্যে এনেছেন৷ ত্রফিম ছিলেন জাতিতে গ্রীক এবং ইফিমের লোক৷
(For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)
30 সমগ্র জেরুশালেমে উত্তেজনা ছড়িয়ে পড়ছিল আর লোকেরা একসঙ্গে ছুটল৷ তারা পৌলকে ধরে টানতে টানতে মন্দির থেকে বের করে দিল৷ সঙ্গে সঙ্গে মন্দিরের দরজা বন্ধ হয়ে গেল৷
And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.
31 লোকেরা পৌলকে হত্যা করার চেষ্টা করছিল৷ রোমান সেনাপতির কাছে খবর পৌঁছলো য়ে সারা জেরুশালেম শহরে প্রচণ্ড গোলমাল শুরু হয়েছে৷
And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
32 তিনি তখনই সৈন্যদের ও তাদের কর্মকর্তাদের নিয়ে সেখানে ছুটে এলেন৷ ইহুদীরা যখন সেনাপতিকে ও তার সঙ্গে সৈন্যদের দেখল, তখন পৌলকে প্রহার করা বন্ধ করল৷
Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.
33 তখন সেনাপতি কাছে এসে পৌলকে গ্রেপ্তার করে ও তাঁকে দুটো শেকলে বাঁধতে হুকুম করলেন৷ এরপর সেনাপতি জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, ‘এ কে, এ কি দোষ করেছে?’
Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
34 তখন সেই ভীড়ের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ একরকম কথা বলল, আবার কেউ কেউ অন্য রকম কথা বলল৷ এই চেঁচামেচিতে তিনি কিছুই ঠিক করতে না পেরে পৌলকে দুর্গের মধ্যে দিয়ে যাবার হুকুম করলেন৷
And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.
35 সমস্ত লোকেরা তাদের অনুসরণ করছিল৷ পৌল যখন সিঁড়ির কাছে এসেছেন, তখন জনতা এতই হিংস্র হয়ে উঠল য়ে সেনারা পৌলকে কাঁধে করে বয়ে নিয়ে য়েতে লাগল৷
And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.
36 কারণ জনতা চিত্কার করে বলছিল, ‘ওকে শেষ করে ফেলো!’
For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.
37 তারা পৌলকে দুর্গের ভেতর দিয়ে নিয়ে য়েতে চাইলে পৌল সেনাপতিকে বললেন, ‘আমি আপনাকে কি কিছু বলতে পারি?’সেনাপতি বললেন, ‘তুমি দেখছি গ্রীক বলতে পার?
And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?
38 তাহলে তুমি সেই মিশরীয় নও য়ে কিছু সময় পূর্বে বিদ্রোহী হয়েছিল ও চার হাজার সন্ত্রাসবাদীকে নিয়ে মরুপ্রান্তরে পালিয়েছিল?’
Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?
39 তখন পৌল বললেন, ‘না, আমি একজন ইহুদী, কিলিকিয়ার তার্ষ নামে এক প্রসিদ্ধ শহরের বাসিন্দা৷ আমি আপনাকে অনুরোধ করছি, এই লোকদের কাছে আমায় কিছু বলতে দিন৷’
But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.
40 সেনাপতি অনুমতি দিলে পৌল সিঁড়ির ওপর দাঁড়িয়ে লোকদের শান্ত হবার জন্য হাত নেড়ে ইঙ্গিত করলেন৷ সবাই যখন চুপ করল তখন তিনি ইব্রীয় ভাষায় বলতে শুরু করলেন৷
And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,
