சவுலின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணப்போகிற பெலிஸ்தருடனேகூடத் தாவீது வருகிறபோது, மனாசேயிலும் சிலர் அவன் பட்சமாய்ச் சேர்ந்தார்கள்; பெலிஸ்தரின் பிரபுக்கள் யோசனைபண்ணி, அவன் நம்முடைய தலைகளுக்கு மோசமாய்த் தன் ஆண்டவனாகிய சவுலின் பட்சமாய்ப் போவான் என்று அவனை அனுப்பிவிட்டார்கள்: அதனால் அவர்கள் இவர்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்யவில்லை.
