1 Kings 1 in Tamil

1 தாவீதுராஜா வயதுசென்ற விர்த்தாப்பியனானபோது, வஸ்திரங்களினால் அவனை மூடினாலும், அவனுக்கு அனல் உண்டாகவில்லை. Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.

2 அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் அவனை நோக்கி: ராஜசமுகத்தில் நின்று, அவருக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்யவும், ராஜாவாகிய எங்கள் ஆண்டவனுக்கு அனல் உண்டாகும்படி உம்முடைய மடியிலே படுத்துக்கொள்ளவும் கன்னியாகிய ஒரு சிறு பெண்ணை ராஜாவாகிய எங்கள் ஆண்டவனுக்குத் தேடுவோம் என்று சொல்லி, Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.

3 இஸ்ரவேலின் எல்லையிலெல்லாம் அழகான ஒரு பெண்ணைத் தேடி, சூனேம் ஊராளாகிய அபிஷாகைக் கண்டு, அவளை ராஜாவினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

4 அந்தப் பெண் வெகு அழகாயிருந்தாள்; அவள் ராஜாவுக்கு உதவியாயிருந்து அவனுக்குப் பணிவிடைசெய்தாள்; ஆனாலும் ராஜா அவளை அறியவில்லை, And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not.

5 ஆகீத்திற்குப் பிறந்த அதோனியா என்பவன்; நான் ராஜா ஆவேன் என்று சொல்லி, தன்னைத்தான் உயர்த்தி, தனக்கு இரதங்களையும் குதிரைவீரரையும், தனக்குமுன் ஓடும் ஐம்பது காலாட்களையும் சம்பாதித்தான். Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.

6 அவனுடைய தகப்பன்: நீ இப்படிச் செய்வானேன் என்று அவனை ஒருக்காலும் கடிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை; அவன் மிகவும் அழகுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்; அப்சலோமுக்குப்பின் அவனுடைய தாய் அவனைப் பெற்றாள். And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom.

7 அவன் செருயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாபோடும், ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரோடும் ஆலோசனைபண்ணிவந்தான்; அவர்கள் அவனிடத்திலிருந்து அவனுக்கு உதவிசெய்துவந்தார்கள். And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him.

8 ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கும், யோய்தாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாயாவும், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானும், சீமேயியும், ரேயியும், தாவீதோடிருக்கிற பராக்கிரமசாலிகளும், அதோனியாவுக்கு உடந்தையாயிருக்கவில்லை. But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

9 அதோனியா இன்றோகேலுக்குச் சமீபமான சோகெலெத் என்னும் கல்லின் அருகே ஆடுமாடுகளையும் கொழுத்த ஜந்துக்களையும் அடித்து, ராஜாவின் குமாரராகிய தன் சகோதரர் எல்லாரையும், ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரரான யூதாவின் மனுஷர் அனைவரையும் அழைத்தான். And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by Enrogel, and called all his brethren the king's sons, and all the men of Judah the king's servants:

10 தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானையும், பெனாயாவையும், பராக்கிரமசாலிகளையும், தன் சகோதரனாகிய சாலொமோனையும் அழைக்கவில்லை. But Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not.

11 அப்பொழுது நாத்தான் சாலொமோனின் தாயாகிய பத்சேபாளை நோக்கி: நம்முடைய ஆண்டவனாகிய தாவீதுக்குத் தெரியாமல், ஆகீத்தின் குமாரனாகிய அதோனியா ராஜாவாகிற செய்தியை நீ கேட்கவில்லையா? Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not?

12 இப்போதும் உன் பிராணனையும், உன் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோனின் பிராணனையும் தப்புவிக்கும்படிக்கு நீ வா, உனக்கு நான் ஆலோசனை சொல்லுவேன். Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.

13 நீ தாவீது ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய்: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, எனக்குப்பின் உன் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோன் ராஜாவாகி, அவனே என் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருப்பான் என்று நீர் உமது அடியாளுக்கு ஆணையிடவில்லையா? அப்படியிருக்க, அதோனியா ராஜாவாகிறது என்ன? என்று அவரிடத்தில் கேள். Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?

14 நீ அங்கே ராஜாவோடே பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், நானும் உனக்குப் பின்வந்து, உன் வார்த்தைகளை உறுதிப்படுத்துவேன் என்றான். Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.

15 அப்படியே பத்சேபாள் பள்ளியறைக்குள் ராஜாவிடத்தில் போனாள்; ராஜா மிகவும் வயதுசென்றவனாயிருந்தான்; சூனேம் ஊராளாகிய அபிஷாக் ராஜாவுக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்துகொண்டிருந்தாள். And Bathsheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king.

16 பத்சேபாள் குனிந்து, ராஜாவை வணங்கினாள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜா: உனக்கு என்னவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டான். And Bathsheba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou?

17 அதற்கு அவள்: என் ஆண்டவனே, எனக்குப்பின் உன் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோன் ராஜாவாகி, அவனே என் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருப்பான் என்று நீர் உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைக் கொண்டு, உமது அடியாளுக்கு ஆணையிட்டீரே. And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by the LORD thy God unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.

18 இப்பொழுது, இதோ, அதோனியா, ராஜாவாகிறான்; என் ஆண்டவனாகிய ராஜாவே, நீர் அதை அறியவில்லை. And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not:

19 அவன் மாடுகளையும் கொழுத்த ஜந்துக்களையும் ஆடுகளையும் திரளாக அடித்து, ராஜாவின் குமாரர் அனைவரையும் ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரையும், யோவாப் என்னும் படைத்தலைவனையும் அழைத்தான்; ஆனாலும் உமது அடியானாகிய சாலொமோனை அழைக்கவில்லை. And he hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the host: but Solomon thy servant hath he not called.

20 ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுக்குப்பிறகு அவருடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருப்பவன் இன்னான் என்று தங்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கவேண்டும் என்று இஸ்ரவேலர் அனைவரின் கண்களும் உம்மை நோக்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. And thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

21 அறிவியாமற்போனால் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் தம்முடைய பிதாக்களோடே படுத்துக்கொண்டபின்பு, நானும் என் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோனும் குற்றவாளிகளாய் எண்ணப்படுவோம் என்றாள். Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.

22 அவள் ராஜாவோடே பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தான் வந்தான். And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in.

23 தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தான் வந்திருக்கிறார் என்று ராஜாவுக்குத் தெரிவித்தார்கள்; அவன் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாகப் பிரவேசித்து முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து ராஜாவை வணங்கினான். And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

24 நாத்தான்: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, அதோனியா எனக்குப் பின் ராஜாவாகி, அவனே என் சிங்காசனத்தின் மேல் வீற்றிருப்பான் என்று நீர் சொன்னதுண்டோ? And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?

25 அவன் இன்றையதினம் போய், மாடுகளையும் கொழுத்த ஜந்துக்களையும் ஆடுகளையும் திரளாக அடித்து, ராஜாவின் குமாரர் அனைவரையும் இராணுவத்தலைவரையும், ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரையும் அழைத்தான்; அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு முன்பாகப் புசித்துக் குடித்து, ராஜாவாகிய அதோனியா வாழ்க என்று சொல்லுகிறார்கள். For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king's sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah.

26 ஆனாலும் உமது அடியானாகிய என்னையும், ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கையும், யோய்தாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாயாவையும், உமது அடியானாகிய சாலொமோனையும் அவன் அழைக்கவில்லை. But me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called.

27 ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுக்குப்பின் தமது சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருப்பவன் இவன் தான் என்று நீர் உமது அடியானுக்குத் தெரிவிக்காதிருக்கையில், இந்தக் காரியம் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் கட்டளையால் நடந்திருக்குமோ என்றான். Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not showed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?

28 அப்பொழுது தாவீதுராஜா பிரதியுத்தரமாக: பத்சேபாளை என்னிடத்தில் வரவழையுங்கள் என்றான்; அவள் ராஜசமுகத்தில் பிரவேசித்து ராஜாவுக்கு முன்னே நின்றாள். Then king David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king.

29 அப்பொழுது ராஜா: உன் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோன் எனக்குப்பின் அரசாண்டு, அவனே என் ஸ்தானத்தில் என் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருப்பான் என்று நான் உனக்கு இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர்மேல் ஆணையிட்டபடியே, இன்றைக்குச் செய்து தீர்ப்பேன் என்பதை, And the king sware, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,

30 என் ஆத்துமாவை எல்லா இக்கட்டுக்கும் நீங்கலாக்கி மீட்ட கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று ஆணையிட்டான். Even as I sware unto thee by the LORD God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day.

31 அப்பொழுது பத்சேபாள் தரைமட்டும் குனிந்து ராஜாவை வணங்கி, என் ஆண்டவனாகிய தாவீதுராஜா என்றைக்கும் வாழ்க என்றாள். Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.

32 பின்பு தாவீதுராஜா, ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கையும் தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானையும் யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவையும் என்னிடத்தில் வரவழையுங்கள் என்றான். And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.

33 அவர்கள் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாகப் பிரவேசித்தபோது, ராஜா அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் உங்கள் ஆண்டவனுடைய சேவகரைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, என் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோனை என் கோவேறுகழுதையின்மேல் ஏற்றி, அவனைக் கீகோனுக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போங்கள். The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon:

34 அங்கே ஆசாரியாகிய சாதோக்கும் தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானும் அவனை இஸ்ரவேலின் மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம் பண்ணக்கடவர்கள்; பின்பு எக்காள்ம் ஊதி, ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் வாழ்க என்று வாழ்த்துங்கள். And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.

35 அதின்பின்பு அவன் நகர்வலம் வந்து, என் சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும்படி, அவனைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள்; அவனே என் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவாயிருப்பான்; அவன் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேலும் யூதாவின்மேலும் தலைவனாயிருக்கும்படி அவனை ஏற்படுத்தினேன் என்றான். Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.

36 அப்பொழுது யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயா ராஜாவுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ஆமென், ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரும் இப்படியே சொல்வாராக. And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the LORD God of my lord the king say so too.

37 கர்த்தர் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனோடே எப்படி இருந்தாரோ, அப்படியே அவர் சாலொமோனோடும் இருந்து, தாவீது ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுடைய சிங்காசனத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் அவருடைய சிங்காசனத்தைப் பெரிதாக்குவாராக என்றான். As the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.

38 அப்படியே ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கும், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானும், யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவும், கிரேத்தியரும் பிலேத்தியரும் போய், சாலொமோனைத் தாவீது ராஜாவினுடைய கோவேறுகழுதையின்மேல் ஏற்றி, அவனைக் கீகோனுக்கு நடத்திக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள். So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.

39 ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கு தைலக்கொம்பைக் கூடாரத்திலிருந்து எடுத்துக் கொண்டுபோய், சாலொமோனை அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினான்; அப்பொழுது எக்காளம் ஊதி, ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் வாழ்க என்று வாழ்த்தினார்கள். And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.

40 பிற்பாடு ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் அவன் பிறகாலே போனார்கள்; ஜனங்கள் நாகசுரங்களை ஊதி, பூமி அவர்கள் சத்தத்தினால் அதிரத்தக்கதாக மகா பூரிப்பாய்ச் சந்தோஷித்தார்கள். And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.

41 அதோனியாவும் அவனோடிருந்த எல்லா விருந்தாளிகளும் போஜனம் பண்ணி முடிந்தபோது அதைக் கேட்டார்கள்; யோவாப் எக்காளசத்தத்தைக் கேட்டபோது, நகரத்தில் உண்டாயிருக்கிற ஆரவாரம் என்ன என்று விசாரித்தான். And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar?

42 அவன் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரின் குமாரன் யோனத்தான் வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது அதோனியா, உள்ளே வா, நீ கெட்டிக்காரன், நீ நற்செய்தி கொண்டுவருகிறவன் என்றான். And while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou art a valiant man, and bringest good tidings.

43 யோனத்தான் அதோனியாவுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ஏது, தாவீதுராஜாவாகிய நம்முடைய ஆண்டவன் சாலொமோனை ராஜாவாக்கினாரே. And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David hath made Solomon king.

44 ராஜா ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கையும், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானையும், யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவையும், கிரேத்தியரையும் பிலேத்தியரையும் அவனோடே அனுப்பினார்; அவர்கள் அவனை ராஜாவுடைய கோவேறுகழுதையின்மேல் ஏற்றினார்கள். And the king hath sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule:

45 ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கும், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானும், அவனைக் கீகோனிலே ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினார்கள்; நகரமெல்லாம் முழங்கத்தக்கதாக அங்கேயிருந்து பூரிப்போடே புறப்பட்டுப் போனார்கள்; நீங்கள் கேட்ட இரைச்சல் அதுதான். And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon: and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that ye have heard.

46 அல்லாமலும் சாலொமோன் ராஜாங்கத்துக்குரிய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருக்கிறான். And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom.

47 ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரரும் தாவீது ராஜாவாகிய நம்முடைய ஆண்டவனை வாழ்த்துதல் செய்யவந்து: தேவன் சாலொமோனின் நாமத்தை உம்முடைய நாமத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் பிரபலபடுத்தி, அவருடைய சிங்காசனத்தை உம்முடைய சிங்காசனத்தைப் பார்க்கிலும் பெரிதாக்குவாராக என்றார்கள்; ராஜா தம்முடைய கட்டிலின்மேல் குனிந்து பணிந்துகொண்டார். And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.

48 பின்னும் ராஜா: என்னுடைய கண்கள் காண இன்றையதினம் என் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் ஒருவனை வீற்றிருக்கச் செய்த இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம் என்று சொன்னார் என்றான். And also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.

49 அப்பொழுது அதோனியாவின் விருந்தாளிகளெல்லாரும் அதிர்ந்து எழுந்திருந்து, அவரவர் தங்கள் வழியே போய்விட்டார்கள். And all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.

50 அதோனியா, சாலொமோனுக்குப் பயந்ததினால் எழுந்துபோய், பலிபீடத்தின் கொம்புகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான். And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.

51 இதோ, அதோனியா ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனுக்குப் பயப்படுகிறான் என்றும், இதோ, அவன் பலிபீடத்தின் கொம்புகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் தமது அடியானைப் பட்டயத்தாலே கொன்றுபோடுவதில்லை என்று இன்று எனக்கு ஆணையிடுவாராக என்கிறான் என்றும், சாலொமோனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon: for, lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear unto me today that he will not slay his servant with the sword.

52 அப்பொழுது சாலொமோன்: அவன் யோக்கியன் என்று விளங்க நடந்து கொண்டால் அவன் தலைமயிரில் ஒன்றும் தரையிலே விழப்போகிறதில்லை; அவனிடத்தில் பொல்லாப்புக் காணப்படுமேயாகில், அவன் சாகவேண்டும் என்றான். And Solomon said, If he will show himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die.

53 அவனைப் பலிபீடத்திலிருந்து கொண்டுவர, ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் ஆட்களை அனுப்பினான்; அவன் வந்து, ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனை வணங்கினான்; சாலொமோன் அவனைப் பார்த்து: உன் வீட்டிற்குப் போ என்றான். So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine house.

1 Davidraajaa vayathusenta virththaappiyanaanapothu, vasthirangalinaal avanai mootinaalum, avanukku anal unndaakavillai. Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.

2 Appoluthu avanutaiya ooliyakkaarar avanai Nnokki: raajasamukaththil nintu, avarukkup pannivitai seyyavum, raajaavaakiya engal aanndavanukku anal unndaakumpati ummutaiya matiyilae paduththukkollavum kanniyaakiya oru siraு pennnnai raajaavaakiya engal aanndavanukkuth thaeduvom entu solli, Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.

3 Isravaelin ellaiyilellaam alakaana oru pennnnaith thaeti, soonaem ooraalaakiya apishaakaik kanndu, avalai raajaavinidaththil konnduvanthaarkal. So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

4 Anthap penn veku alakaayirunthaal; aval raajaavukku uthaviyaayirunthu avanukkup pannivitaiseythaal; aanaalum raajaa avalai ariyavillai, And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not.

5 Aageeththirkup pirantha athoniyaa enpavan; naan raajaa aavaen entu solli, thannaiththaan uyarththi, thanakku irathangalaiyum kuthiraiveeraraiyum, thanakkumun odum aimpathu kaalaatkalaiyum sampaathiththaan. Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.

6 Avanutaiya thakappan: nee ippatich seyvaanaen entu avanai orukkaalum katinthukollavillai; avan mikavum alakullavanaayirunthaan; apsalomukkuppin avanutaiya thaay avanaip pettaாl. And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom.

7 Avan seruyaavin kumaaranaakiya yovaapodum, aasaariyanaakiya apiyaththaarodum aalosanaipannnnivanthaan; avarkal avanidaththilirunthu avanukku uthaviseythuvanthaarkal. And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him.

8 Aasaariyanaakiya saathokkum, yoythaavin kumaaranaakiya penaayaavum, theerkkatharisiyaakiya naaththaanum, seemaeyiyum, raeyiyum, thaaveethotirukkira paraakkiramasaalikalum, athoniyaavukku udanthaiyaayirukkavillai. But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

9 Athoniyaa intokaelukkuch sameepamaana sokeleth ennum kallin arukae aadumaadukalaiyum koluththa janthukkalaiyum atiththu, raajaavin kumaararaakiya than sakotharar ellaaraiyum, raajaavin ooliyakkaararaana yoothaavin manushar anaivaraiyum alaiththaan. And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by Enrogel, and called all his brethren the king's sons, and all the men of Judah the king's servants:

10 Theerkkatharisiyaakiya naaththaanaiyum, penaayaavaiyum, paraakkiramasaalikalaiyum, than sakotharanaakiya saalomonaiyum alaikkavillai. But Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not.

11 Appoluthu naaththaan saalomonin thaayaakiya pathsepaalai Nnokki: nammutaiya aanndavanaakiya Davidkkuth theriyaamal, aageeththin kumaaranaakiya athoniyaa raajaavaakira seythiyai nee kaetkavillaiyaa? Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not?

12 Ippothum un piraananaiyum, un kumaaranaakiya saalomonin piraananaiyum thappuvikkumpatikku nee vaa, unakku naan aalosanai solluvaen. Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.

13 Nee David raajaavinidaththil poy: raajaavaakiya en aanndavanae, enakkuppin un kumaaranaakiya saalomon raajaavaaki, avanae en singaasanaththinmael veettiruppaan entu neer umathu atiyaalukku aannaiyidavillaiyaa? Appatiyirukka, athoniyaa raajaavaakirathu enna? Entu avaridaththil kael. Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?

14 Nee angae raajaavotae paesikkonntirukkaiyil, naanum unakkup pinvanthu, un vaarththaikalai uraுthippaduththuvaen entan. Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.

15 Appatiyae pathsepaal palliyaraikkul raajaavidaththil ponaal; raajaa mikavum vayathusentavanaayirunthaan; soonaem ooraalaakiya apishaak raajaavukkup pannivitai seythukonntirunthaal. And Bathsheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king.

16 Pathsepaal kuninthu, raajaavai vananginaal; appoluthu raajaa: unakku ennavaenndum entu kaettan. And Bathsheba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou?

17 Atharku aval: en aanndavanae, enakkuppin un kumaaranaakiya saalomon raajaavaaki, avanae en singaasanaththinmael veettiruppaan entu neer ummutaiya thaevanaakiya karththaraik konndu, umathu atiyaalukku aannaiyittirae. And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by the LORD thy God unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.

18 Ippoluthu, itho, athoniyaa, raajaavaakiraan; en aanndavanaakiya raajaavae, neer athai ariyavillai. And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not:

19 Avan maadukalaiyum koluththa janthukkalaiyum aadukalaiyum thiralaaka atiththu, raajaavin kumaarar anaivaraiyum aasaariyanaakiya apiyaththaaraiyum, yovaap ennum pataiththalaivanaiyum alaiththaan; aanaalum umathu atiyaanaakiya saalomonai alaikkavillai. And he hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the host: but Solomon thy servant hath he not called.

20 Raajaavaakiya en aanndavanae, raajaavaakiya en aanndavanukkuppiraku avarutaiya singaasanaththinmael veettiruppavan innaan entu thangalukku arivikkavaenndum entu isravaelar anaivarin kannkalum ummai Nnokkik konntirukkirathu. And thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

21 Ariviyaamarponaal raajaavaakiya en aanndavan thammutaiya pithaakkalotae paduththukkonndapinpu, naanum en kumaaranaakiya saalomonum kuttavaalikalaay ennnappaduvom ental. Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.

22 Aval raajaavotae paesikkonntirukkaiyil, theerkkatharisiyaakiya naaththaan vanthaan. And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in.

23 Theerkkatharisiyaakiya naaththaan vanthirukkiraar entu raajaavukkuth theriviththaarkal; avan raajaavukku munpaakap piravaesiththu mukanguppura vilunthu raajaavai vananginaan. And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

24 Naaththaan: raajaavaakiya en aanndavanae, athoniyaa enakkup pin raajaavaaki, avanae en singaasanaththin mael veettiruppaan entu neer sonnathunntoo? And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?

25 Avan intaiyathinam poy, maadukalaiyum koluththa janthukkalaiyum aadukalaiyum thiralaaka atiththu, raajaavin kumaarar anaivaraiyum iraanuvaththalaivaraiyum, aasaariyanaakiya apiyaththaaraiyum alaiththaan; avarkal avanukku munpaakap pusiththuk kutiththu, raajaavaakiya athoniyaa vaalka entu sollukiraarkal. For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king's sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah.

26 Aanaalum umathu atiyaanaakiya ennaiyum, aasaariyanaakiya saathokkaiyum, yoythaavin kumaaranaakiya penaayaavaiyum, umathu atiyaanaakiya saalomonaiyum avan alaikkavillai. But me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called.

27 Raajaavaakiya en aanndavanukkuppin thamathu singaasanaththil veettiruppavan ivan thaan entu neer umathu atiyaanukkuth therivikkaathirukkaiyil, inthak kaariyam raajaavaakiya en aanndavan kattalaiyaal nadanthirukkumo entan. Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not showed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?

28 Appoluthu Davidraajaa pirathiyuththaramaaka: pathsepaalai ennidaththil varavalaiyungal entan; aval raajasamukaththil piravaesiththu raajaavukku munnae nintal. Then king David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king.

29 Appoluthu raajaa: un kumaaranaakiya saalomon enakkuppin arasaanndu, avanae en sthaanaththil en singaasanaththinmael veettiruppaan entu naan unakku isravaelin thaevanaakiya Karththarmael aannaiyittapatiyae, intaikkuch seythu theerppaen enpathai, And the king sware, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,

30 En aaththumaavai ellaa ikkattukkum neengalaakki meetta karththarutaiya jeevanaikkonndu sollukiraேn entu aannaiyittan. Even as I sware unto thee by the LORD God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day.

31 Appoluthu pathsepaal tharaimattum kuninthu raajaavai vanangi, en aanndavanaakiya Davidraajaa entaikkum vaalka ental. Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.

32 Pinpu Davidraajaa, aasaariyanaakiya saathokkaiyum theerkkatharisiyaakiya naaththaanaiyum yoythaavin kumaaran penaayaavaiyum ennidaththil varavalaiyungal entan. And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.

33 Avarkal raajaavukku munpaakap piravaesiththapothu, raajaa avarkalai Nnokki: neengal ungal aanndavanutaiya sevakaraik koottikkonndu, en kumaaranaakiya saalomonai en kovaeraுkaluthaiyinmael aetti, avanaik geekonukku alaiththukkonndu pongal. The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon:

34 Angae aasaariyaakiya saathokkum theerkkatharisiyaakiya naaththaanum avanai isravaelin mael raajaavaaka apishaekam pannnakkadavarkal; pinpu ekkaalm oothi, raajaavaakiya saalomon vaalka entu vaalththungal. And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.

35 Athinpinpu avan nakarvalam vanthu, en singaasanaththil veettirukkumpati, avanaik koottikkonndu vaarungal; avanae en sthaanaththil raajaavaayiruppaan; avan isravaelinmaelum yoothaavinmaelum thalaivanaayirukkumpati avanai aerpaduththinaen entan. Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.

36 Appoluthu yoythaavin kumaaran penaayaa raajaavukkup pirathiyuththaramaaka: Amen, raajaavaakiya en aanndavanutaiya thaevanaakiya karththarum ippatiyae solvaaraaka. And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the LORD God of my lord the king say so too.

37 Karththar raajaavaakiya en aanndavanotae eppati irunthaaro, appatiyae avar saalomonodum irunthu, David raajaavaakiya en aanndavanutaiya singaasanaththaippaarkkilum avarutaiya singaasanaththaip perithaakkuvaaraaka entan. As the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.

38 Appatiyae aasaariyanaakiya saathokkum, theerkkatharisiyaakiya naaththaanum, yoythaavin kumaaran penaayaavum, kiraeththiyarum pilaeththiyarum poy, saalomonaith David raajaavinutaiya kovaeraுkaluthaiyinmael aetti, avanaik geekonukku nadaththikkonnduponaarkal. So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.

39 Aasaariyanaakiya saathokku thailakkompaik koodaaraththilirunthu eduththuk konndupoy, saalomonai apishaekampannnninaan; appoluthu ekkaalam oothi, janangalellaarum raajaavaakiya saalomon vaalka entu vaalththinaarkal. And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.

40 Pirpaadu janangalellaarum avan pirakaalae ponaarkal; janangal naakasurangalai oothi, poomi avarkal saththaththinaal athiraththakkathaaka makaa poorippaaych santhoshiththaarkal. And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.

41 Athoniyaavum avanotiruntha ellaa virunthaalikalum pojanam pannnni mutinthapothu athaik kaettarkal; yovaap ekkaalasaththaththaik kaettapothu, nakaraththil unndaayirukkira aaravaaram enna entu visaariththaan. And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar?

42 Avan paesikkonntirukkaiyil, aasaariyanaakiya apiyaththaarin kumaaran yonaththaan vanthaan; appoluthu athoniyaa, ullae vaa, nee kettikkaaran, nee narseythi konnduvarukiravan entan. And while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou art a valiant man, and bringest good tidings.

43 Yonaththaan athoniyaavukkup pirathiyuththaramaaka: aethu, Davidraajaavaakiya nammutaiya aanndavan saalomonai raajaavaakkinaarae. And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David hath made Solomon king.

44 Raajaa aasaariyanaakiya saathokkaiyum, theerkkatharisiyaakiya naaththaanaiyum, yoythaavin kumaaran penaayaavaiyum, kiraeththiyaraiyum pilaeththiyaraiyum avanotae anuppinaar; avarkal avanai raajaavutaiya kovaeraுkaluthaiyinmael aettinaarkal. And the king hath sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule:

45 Aasaariyanaakiya saathokkum, theerkkatharisiyaakiya naaththaanum, avanaik geekonilae raajaavaaka apishaekampannnninaarkal; nakaramellaam mulangaththakkathaaka angaeyirunthu poorippotae purappattup ponaarkal; neengal kaetta iraichchal athuthaan. And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon: and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that ye have heard.

46 Allaamalum saalomon raajaangaththukkuriya singaasanaththinmael veettirukkiraan. And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom.

47 Raajaavin ooliyakkaararum David raajaavaakiya nammutaiya aanndavanai vaalththuthal seyyavanthu: Dhevan saalomonin naamaththai ummutaiya naamaththaippaarkkilum pirapalapaduththi, avarutaiya singaasanaththai ummutaiya singaasanaththaip paarkkilum perithaakkuvaaraaka entarkal; raajaa thammutaiya kattilinmael kuninthu panninthukonndaar. And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.

48 Pinnum raajaa: ennutaiya kannkal kaana intaiyathinam en singaasanaththinmael oruvanai veettirukkach seytha isravaelin thaevanaakiya karththarukku Sthoththiram entu sonnaar entan. And also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.

49 Appoluthu athoniyaavin virunthaalikalellaarum athirnthu elunthirunthu, avaravar thangal valiyae poyvittarkal. And all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.

50 Athoniyaa, saalomonukkup payanthathinaal elunthupoy, palipeedaththin kompukalaip pitiththukkonndaan. And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.

51 Itho, athoniyaa raajaavaakiya saalomonukkup payappadukiraan entum, itho, avan palipeedaththin kompukalaip pitiththukkonndu, raajaavaakiya saalomon thamathu atiyaanaip pattayaththaalae kontupoduvathillai entu intu enakku aannaiyiduvaaraaka enkiraan entum, saalomonukku arivikkappattathu. And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon: for, lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear unto me today that he will not slay his servant with the sword.

52 Appoluthu saalomon: avan yokkiyan entu vilanga nadanthu konndaal avan thalaimayiril ontum tharaiyilae vilappokirathillai; avanidaththil pollaappuk kaanappadumaeyaakil, avan saakavaenndum entan. And Solomon said, If he will show himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die.

53 Avanaip palipeedaththilirunthu konnduvara, raajaavaakiya saalomon aatkalai anuppinaan; avan vanthu, raajaavaakiya saalomonai vananginaan; saalomon avanaip paarththu: un veettirkup po entan. So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine house.
