அவர்கள் அவனிடத்தில் வருகையில், எலிசா கர்த்தரை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணி: இந்த ஜனங்களுக்குக் கண் மயக்கம் உண்டாகும்படி செய்யும் என்றான்; எலிசாவுடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே அவர்களுக்குக் கண்மயக்கம் உண்டாகும்படி செய்தார்.

பின் அவர்கள் (ஆராமியர்கள்) கீழே இறங்கி எலிசாவிடம் வந்து நின்றதும், அவன் கர்த்தரிடம், “இம்மனிதர்கள் குருடாகப் போகும்படி உம்மை வேண்டிக்கொள்கிறேன்” என்றான். பிறகு கர்த்தர் எலிசா வேண்டிக்கொண்டபடியே ஆராமியர்களை குருடாக்கினார்.

சிரியா நாட்டினர் அவரை நெருங்கி வந்த பொழுது, எலிசா ஆண்டவரை நோக்கி, “இவ்வினத்தாரைக் குருடாக்கியருளும்” என்று மன்றாடினார். உடனே ஆண்டவர் எலிசாவின் மன்றாட்டுக்கு இணங்கி அவர்களைக் குருடாக்கினார்.

unto אֶל ʾēl ale
the Lord, יְהוָה֙ yĕhōwâ yeh-hoh-VA
and said, וַיֹּאמַ֔ר ʾāmar ah-MAHR
Smite הַךְ nākâ na-HA
I pray thee, נָ֥א nāʾ na

people, הַגּוֹי gôy ɡoy
this הַזֶּ֖ה ze zeh
