And it came to pass after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.

3 அன்றியும் தன்னோடிருந்த மனுஷரையும் அவர்கள் குடும்பங்களையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோனான்; அவர்கள் எப்ரோனின் சுற்றூர்களிலே குடியேறினார்கள். And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.

7 இப்போதும் நீங்கள் உங்கள் கைகளைத் திடப்படுத்திக்கொண்டு நல்ல சேவகராயிருங்கள்; உங்கள் ஆண்டவனாகிய சவுல் மரித்தபின்பு, யூதா வம்சத்தார் என்னைத் தங்கள்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினார்கள் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லச்சொன்னான். Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.

9 அவனைக் கீலேயாத்தின்மேலும் அஷூரியர்மேலும், யெஸ்ரயேலின்மேலும், எப்பிராயீமின்மேலும், பென்யமீனின்மேலும், இஸ்ரவேலனைத்தின் மேலும் ராஜாவாகிக்கினான். And made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.

13 அப்பொழுது செருயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாபும் தாவீதின் சேவகரும் புறப்பட்டுப்போய் கிபியோனின் குளத்தண்டையில் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் எதிர்ப்பட்டு குளத்திற்கு அந்தப்பக்கத்தில் அவர்களும் குளத்திற்கு இந்தப்பக்கத்தில் இவர்களும் இறங்கினார்கள். And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.

14 அப்னேர் யோவாபை நோக்கி: வாலிபர் எழுந்து நமக்கு முன்பாகச் சிலம்பம் பண்ணட்டும் என்றான்; அதற்கு யோவாப்: அவர்கள் எழுந்து அப்படிச் செய்யட்டும் என்றான். And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.

16 ஒருவர் தலையை ஒருவர் பிடித்து ஒருவருடைய விலாவிலே ஒருவர் பட்டயத்தினாலே குத்தி ஒருமிக்க விழுந்தார்கள்; அதினாலே கிபியோனிலிருக்கிற அந்த ஸ்தலம் எல்காத் அசூரிம் என்னப்பட்டது. And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow's side; so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkathhazzurim, which is in Gibeon.

17 அன்றையதினம் மிகவும் கடினமான யுத்தமாகி அப்பேனரும் இஸ்ரவேல் மனுஷரும் தாவீதின் சேவகரால் முறிய அடிக்கப்பட்டார்கள். And there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.

18 அங்கே செருயாவின் மூன்று குமாரராகிய யோவாயும் அபிசாயும் ஆசகேலும் இருந்தார்கள்; ஆசகேல் வெளியிலிருக்கிற கலைமான்களில் ஒன்றைப்போல வேகமாய் ஓடுகிறவனாயிருந்தான். And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.

And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armor. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.

And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?

Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.

24 யோவாபும் அபிசாயும் சூரியன் அஸ்தமிக்குமட்டும் அப்னேரைப் பின் தொடர்ந்தார்கள்; கிபியோன் வனாந்தர வழிக்கு அருகான கீயாவுக்கு எதிரே இருக்கிற அம்மா மேடுமட்டும் வந்தார்கள். Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.

25 அப்பொழுது அப்னேரைப் பின் சென்ற பென்யமீன் புத்திரர் ஒரே படையாகக் கூடி ஒரு மலையின் உச்சியிலே நின்றார்கள். And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of an hill.

26 அப்பொழுது அப்னேர் யோவாபைப் பார்த்துக் கூப்பிட்டு: பட்டயம் எப்போதும் சங்காரம் பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருக்கவேண்டுமோ, முடிவிலே கசப்புண்டாகும் என்று அறியீரோ, தங்கள் சகோதரரை விட்டுப் பின்வாங்கும்படிக்கு எந்த மட்டும் ஜனங்களுக்குச் சொல்லாதிருப்பீர் என்றான். Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then, ere thou bid the people return from following their brethren?

27 அதற்கு யோவாப்: இன்று காலமே நீர் பேசாதிருந்தீரானால் ஜனங்கள் அவரவர் தங்கள் சகோதரரைப் பின்தொடராமல் அப்பொழுதே திரும்பிவிடுவார்கள் என்று தேவனுடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான். And Joab said, As God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.

28 யோவாப் எக்காளம் ஊதினான்; அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் இஸ்ரவேலைத் தொடராமலும் யுத்தம்பண்ணாமலும் நின்றுவிட்டார்கள். So Joab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.

29 அன்று ராமுழுதும் அப்னேரும் அவன் மனுஷரும் அந்தரவெளி வழியாய்ப் போய், யோர்தானைக் கடந்து, பித்ரோனை உருவ நடந்து தாண்டி, மகனாயீமுக்குப் போனார்கள். And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.

30 யோவாப் அப்னேரைத் தொடராமல் ஜனங்களையெல்லாம் கூடிவரச்செய்தான்; தாவீதின் சேவகரில் பத்தொண்பதுபேரும் ஆகசேலும் குறைந்திருந்தார்கள். And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.

31 தாவீதின் சேகவரோ பென்யமீனரிலும் அப்னேரின் மனுஷரிலும் முந்நூற்றறுபதுபேரை மடங்கடித்தார்கள். But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, so that three hundred and threescore men died.

And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.

And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.

5 David geelaeyaaththaesaththu yaapaesin manusharidaththil sthaanaapathikalai anuppi, neengal ungal aanndavanaakiya savulukku inthath thayavaich seythu avarai adakkampannnninapatiyinalae Karththar ungalai aaseervathippaaraaka. And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the LORD, that ye have showed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.

And now the LORD show kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.

7 Ippothum neengal ungal kaikalaith thidappaduththikkonndu nalla sevakaraayirungal; ungal aanndavanaakiya savul mariththapinpu, yoothaa vamsaththaar ennaith thangalmael raajaavaaka apishaekampannnninaarkal entu avarkalukkuch sollachchaொnnaan. 9 Avanaik geelaeyaaththinmaelum ashooriyarmaelum, yesrayaelinmaelum, eppiraayeeminmaelum, penyameeninmaelum, isravaelanaiththin maelum raajaavaakikkinaan. And made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.

10 Savulin kumaaranaakiya isposeth isravaelinmael raajaavaakirapothu naarpathu vayathaayirunthaan; avan iranndu varudam raajyapaarampannnninaan; yoothaa koththiraththaarmaaththiram thaaveethaip pinpattinaarkal. Ishbosheth Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.

13 Appoluthu seruyaavin kumaaranaakiya yovaapum thaaveethin sevakarum purappattuppoy kipiyonin kulaththanntaiyil oruvarukkoruvar ethirppattu kulaththirku anthappakkaththil avarkalum kulaththirku inthappakkaththil ivarkalum iranginaarkal. And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.

17 Antaiyathinam mikavum katinamaana yuththamaaki appaenarum Israel manusharum thaaveethin sevakaraal muriya atikkappattarkal. And there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.

18 Angae seruyaavin moontu kumaararaakiya yovaayum apisaayum aasakaelum irunthaarkal; aasakael veliyilirukkira kalaimaankalil ontaippola vaekamaay odukiravanaayirunthaan. And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.

Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.

30 Yovaap apnaeraith thodaraamal janangalaiyellaam kootivarachcheythaan; thaaveethin sevakaril paththonnpathupaerum aakaselum kurainthirunthaarkal. And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.

31 Thaaveethin sekavaro penyameenarilum apnaerin manusharilum munnoottaraுpathupaerai madangatiththaarkal. But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, so that three hundred and threescore men died.
