Ecclesiastes 7 in Tamil

1 பரிமளதைலத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் நற்கீர்த்தியும், ஒருவனுடைய ஜநநநாளைப்பார்க்கிலும் மரணநாளும் நல்லது. A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.

2 விருந்துவீட்டுக்குப் போவதிலும் துக்கவீட்டுக்குப் போவது நலம்; இதிலே எல்லா மனுஷரின் முடிவும் காணப்படும்; உயிரோடிருக்கிறவன் இதைத் தன் மனதிலே சிந்திப்பான். It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.

3 நகைப்பைப் பார்க்கிலும் துக்கிப்பு நலம்; முகதுக்கத்தினாலே இருதயம் சீர்ப்படும். Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.

4 ஞானிகளின் இருதயம் துக்கவீட்டிலே இருக்கும்; மூடரின் இருதயம் களிப்புவீட்டிலே இருக்கும். The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

5 ஒருவன் மூடரின் பாட்டைக்கேட்பதிலும், ஞானியின் கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலைக் கேட்பது நலம். It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.

6 மூடனின் நகைப்பு பானையின்கீழ் எரிகிற முள்ளுகளின் படபடப்பைப்போலிருக்கும்; இதுவும் மாயையே. For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool: this also is vanity.

7 இடுக்கணானது ஞானியையும் பைத்தியக்காரனாக்கும்; பரிதானம் இருதயத்தைக் கெடுக்கும். Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart.

8 ஒரு காரியத்தின் துவக்கத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் அதின் முடிவு நல்லது; பெருமையுள்ளவனைப்பார்க்கிலும் பொறுமையுள்ளவன் உத்தமன். Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

9 உன் மனதில் சீக்கிரமாய்க் கோபங்கொள்ளாதே; மூடரின் நெஞ்சிலே கோபம் குடிகொள்ளும். Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

10 இந்நாட்களைப் பார்க்கிலும் முன்நாட்கள் நலமாயிருந்தது என்று சொல்லாதே; நீ இதைக்குறித்துக் கேட்பது ஞானமல்ல. Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.

11 சுதந்தரத்தோடே ஞானம் நல்லது; சூரியனைக் காண்கிறவர்களுக்கு இதினாலே பிரயோஜனமுண்டு. Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.

12 ஞானம் கேடகம், திரவியமும் கேடகம்; ஞானம் தன்னை உடையவர்களுக்கு ஜீவனைத் தரும்; இதுவே அறிவின் மேன்மை. For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

13 தேவனுடைய செயலைக் கவனித்துப்பார்; அவர் கோணலாக்கினதை நேர்மையாக்கத்தக்கவன் யார்? Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked?

14 வாழ்வுகாலத்தில் நன்மையை அநுபவித்திரு, தாழ்வுகாலத்தில் சிந்தனைசெய்; மனுஷன் தனக்குப்பின் வருவதொன்றையும் கண்டுபிடியாதபடிக்கு தேவன் இவ்விரண்டையும் ஒன்றுக்கொன்று எதிரிடையாக வைத்திருக்கிறார். In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.

15 இவை எல்லாவற்றையும் என் மாயையின் நாட்களில் கண்டேன்; தன் நீதியிலே கெட்டுப்போகிற நீதிமானுமுண்டு, தன் பாவத்திலே நீடித்திருக்கிற பாவியுமுண்டு. All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.

16 மிஞ்சின நீதிமானாயிராதே, உன்னை அதிக ஞானியுமாக்காதே; உன்னை நீ ஏன் கெடுத்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டும்? Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself ?

17 மிஞ்சின துஷ்டனாயிராதே, அதிக பேதையுமாயிராதே; உன் காலத்துக்குமுன்னே நீ ஏன் சாகவேண்டும்? Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?

18 நீ இதψப் பற்றிக்கொள்ՠΤும் அதைக் கைவிடாதிருப்பĠρம் நலம்; தேவனுΕ்குப் பயப்படுகிறவன் இவைகளெல்லாவற்றினின்றும் காக்கப்படுவான். It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.

19 நகரத்திலுள்ள பத்து அதிபதிகளைப்பார்க்கிலும், ஞானம் ஞானியை அதிக பெலவானாக்கும். Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city.

20 ஒரு பாவமும் செய்யாமல், நன்மையையே செய்யத்தக்க நீதிமான் பூமியிலில்லை. For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

21 சொல்லப்படும் எல்லா வார்த்தைகளையும் கவனியாதே; கவனித்தால் உன் வேலைக்காரன் உன்னை நிந்திப்பதைக் கேள்விப்படவேண்டியதாகும். Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee:

22 அநேகந்தரம் நீயும் பிறரை நிந்தித்தாயென்று, உன் மனதுக்கு தெரியுமே. For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.

23 எல்லாவற்றையும் ஞானத்தினால் சோதித்துப்பார்த்தேன். நான் ஞானவானாவேன் என்றேன், அது எனக்குத் தூரமாயிற்று. All this have I proved by wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me.

24 தூரமும் மகா ஆழமுமாயிருக்கிறதைக் கண்டடைகிறவன் யார்? That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out?

25 ஞானத்தையும் காரணகாரியத்தையும் விசாரித்து ஆராய்ந்து அறியவும் மதிகேட்டின் ஆகாமியத்தையும் புத்திமயக்கத்தின் பைத்தியத்தையும் அறியவும் என் மனதை செலுத்தினேன். I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness:

26 கண்ணிகளும் வலைகளுமாகிய நெஞ்சமும், கயிறுகளுமாகிய கைகளுடைய ஸ்திரீயானவள், சாவிலும் அதிக கசப்புள்ளவளென்று கண்டேன், தேவனுக்குமுன்பாகச் சற்குணனாயிருக்கிறவன் அவளுக்குத் தப்புவான்; பாவியோ அவளால் பிடிபடுவான். And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.

27 காரியத்தை அறியும்படி ஒவ்வொன்றாய் விசாரணைபண்ணி, இதோ, இதைக் கண்டுபிடித்தேன் என்று பிரசங்கி சொல்லுகிறான். Behold, this have I found, saith the preacher, counting one by one, to find out the account:

28 என் மனம் இன்னும் ஒன்றைத் தேடுகிறது, அதை நான் கண்டுபிடிக்கவில்லை; ஆயிரம்பேருக்குள்ளே ஒரு புருஷனைக் கண்டேன், இவர்களெல்லாருக்குள்ளும் ஒரு ஸ்திரீயை நான் காணவில்லை. Which yet my soul seeketh, but I find not: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.

29 இதோ தேவன் மனுஷனைச் செம்மையானவனாய் உண்டாக்கினார்; அவர்களோ அநேக உபாயதந்திரங்களைத் தேடிக்கொண்டார்கள்; இதைமாத்திரம் கண்டேன். Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

1 Parimalathailaththaippaarkkilum nargeerththiyum, oruvanutaiya janananaalaippaarkkilum marananaalum nallathu. A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.

2 Virunthuveettukkup povathilum thukkaveettukkup povathu nalam; ithilae ellaa manusharin mutivum kaanappadum; uyirotirukkiravan ithaith than manathilae sinthippaan. It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.

3 Nakaippaip paarkkilum thukkippu nalam; mukathukkaththinaalae iruthayam seerppadum. Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.

4 Njaanikalin iruthayam thukkaveettilae irukkum; moodarin iruthayam kalippuveettilae irukkum. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

5 Oruvan moodarin paattaைkkaetpathilum, njaaniyin katinthukolluthalaik kaetpathu nalam. It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.

6 Moodanin nakaippu paanaiyingeel erikira mullukalin padapadappaippolirukkum; ithuvum maayaiyae. For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool: this also is vanity.

7 Idukkannaanathu njaaniyaiyum paiththiyakkaaranaakkum; parithaanam iruthayaththaik kedukkum. Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart.

8 Oru kaariyaththin thuvakkaththaippaarkkilum athin mutivu nallathu; perumaiyullavanaippaarkkilum poraுmaiyullavan uththaman. Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

9 Un manathil seekkiramaayk kopangaொllaathae; moodarin nenjilae kopam kutikollum. Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

10 Innaatkalaip paarkkilum munnaatkal nalamaayirunthathu entu sollaathae; nee ithaikkuriththuk kaetpathu njaanamalla. Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.

11 Suthantharaththotae njaanam nallathu; sooriyanaik kaannkiravarkalukku ithinaalae pirayojanamunndu. Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.

12 Njaanam kaedakam, thiraviyamum kaedakam; njaanam thannai utaiyavarkalukku jeevanaith tharum; ithuvae arivin maenmai. For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

13 Thaevanutaiya seyalaik kavaniththuppaar; avar konalaakkinathai naermaiyaakkaththakkavan yaar? Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked?

14 Vaalvukaalaththil nanmaiyai anupaviththiru, thaalvukaalaththil sinthanaisey; manushan thanakkuppin varuvathontaiyum kanndupitiyaathapatikku Dhevan ivviranntaiyum ontukkontu ethiritaiyaaka vaiththirukkiraar. 15 Ivai ellaavattaைyum en maayaiyin naatkalil kanntaen; than neethiyilae kettuppokira neethimaanumunndu, than paavaththilae neetiththirukkira paaviyumunndu. 16 Minjina neethimaanaayiraathae, unnai athika njaaniyumaakkaathae; unnai nee aen keduththukkollavaenndum? Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself ?

17 Minjina thushdanaayiraathae, athika paethaiyumaayiraathae; un kaalaththukkumunnae nee aen saakavaenndum? Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?

18 Nee ithaψp pattikkolՠΤுm athaik kaividaathiruppaĠρm nalam; thaevanuΕ்kup payappadukiravan ivaikalellaavattinintum kaakkappaduvaan. It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.

19 Nakaraththilulla paththu athipathikalaippaarkkilum, njaanam njaaniyai athika pelavaanaakkum. Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city.

20 Oru paavamum seyyaamal, nanmaiyaiyae seyyaththakka neethimaan poomiyilillai. For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

21 Sollappadum ellaa vaarththaikalaiyum kavaniyaathae; kavaniththaal un vaelaikkaaran unnai ninthippathaik kaelvippadavaenntiyathaakum. Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee:

22 Anaekantharam neeyum pirarai ninthiththaayentu, un manathukku theriyumae. For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.

23 Ellaavattaைyum njaanaththinaal sothiththuppaarththaen. Naan njaanavaanaavaen enten, athu enakkuth thooramaayittaு. All this have I proved by wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me.

24 Thooramum makaa aalamumaayirukkirathaik kanndataikiravan yaar? That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out?

25 Njaanaththaiyum kaaranakaariyaththaiyum visaariththu aaraaynthu ariyavum mathikaettin aakaamiyaththaiyum puththimayakkaththin paiththiyaththaiyum ariyavum en manathai seluththinaen. I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness:

26 Kannnnikalum valaikalumaakiya nenjamum, kayiraுkalumaakiya kaikalutaiya sthireeyaanaval, saavilum athika kasappullavalentu kanntaen, thaevanukkumunpaakach sarkunanaayirukkiravan avalukkuth thappuvaan; paaviyo avalaal pitipaduvaan. 27 Kaariyaththai ariyumpati ovvontay visaarannaipannnni, itho, ithaik kanndupitiththaen entu pirasangi sollukiraan. Behold, this have I found, saith the preacher, counting one by one, to find out the account:

28 En manam innum ontaith thaedukirathu, athai naan kanndupitikkavillai; aayirampaerukkullae oru purushanaik kanntaen, ivarkalellaarukkullum oru sthireeyai naan kaanavillai. Which yet my soul seeketh, but I find not: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.

29 Itho Dhevan manushanaich semmaiyaanavanaay unndaakkinaar; avarkalo anaeka upaayathanthirangalaith thaetikkonndaarkal; ithaimaaththiram kanntaen. Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
