மொர்தெகாய் ராஜாவின் அரமனையில் பெரியவனாயிருந்தான்; அவனுடைய கீர்த்தி எல்லா நாடுகளிலும் பிரசித்தமாயிற்று; இந்த மொர்தெகாய் என்பவன் மேன்மேலும் பெரியவனானான்.

இருதயத்தைச் செவ்வைப்படுத்தாமலும், தேவனை உறுதியாகப் பற்றிக்கொள்ளாமலும் இருந்த முரட்டாட்டமும் கலகமுமுள்ள சந்ததியாகிய தங்களுடைய பிதாக்களுக்கு அவர்கள் ஒப்பாகாதபடிக்கும், இவைகளைக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

தங்கள் தேவனுடைய கட்டளைகளை ஜனங்கள் அவர்கள் குழந்தைகளுக்குச் சொல்வார்களானால், அந்தக் குழந்தைகள் அவர்களின் முற்பிதாக்களைப்போல் இருக்கமாட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் முற்பிதாக்கள் தேவனுக்கு எதிராகத் திரும்பினார்கள். அவர்கள் அவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிய மறுத்தார்கள். அந்த ஜனங்கள் பிடிவாதமாக இருந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் தேவ ஆவியானவருக்கு உண்மையாக இருக்கவில்லை.

தாவீது நாளுக்குநாள் விருத்தியடைந்தான்; சேனைகளுடைய கர்த்தர் அவனோடேகூட இருந்தார்.

இவ்விதமாய்க் கர்த்தர் Joshuaவோடேகூட இருந்தார்; அவன் கீர்த்தி தேசமெங்கும் பரம்பிற்று.

ஆகையால் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறதாவது: உன் வீட்டாரும் உன் பிதாவின் வீட்டாரும் என்றைக்கும் என் சந்நிதியில் நடந்து கொள்வார்கள் என்று நான் நிச்சயமாய்ச் சொல்லியிருந்தும், இனி அது எனக்குத் தூரமாயிருப்பதாக; என்னைக் கனம்பண்ணுகிறவர்களை நான் கனம் பண்ணுவேன்; என்னை அசட்டை பண்ணுகிறவர்கள் கனஈனப்படுவார்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

அப்படியே தாவீதின் கீர்த்தி சகல தேசங்களிலும் பிரசித்தமாகி, அவனுக்குப் பயப்படுகிற பயத்தைக் கர்த்தர் சகல ஜாதிகளின்மேலும் வரப்பண்ணினார்.

அவன் நீர்க்கால்களின் ஓரமாய் நடப்பட்டு, தன் காலத்தில் தன் கனியைத் தந்து, இலையுதிராதிருக்கிற மரத்தைப்போலிருப்பான்; அவன் செய்வதெல்லாம் வாய்க்கும்.

ஜனங்களின் சண்டைகளுக்கு நீர் என்னைத் தப்புவித்து, ஜாதிகளுக்கு என்னைத் தலைவனாக்குகிறீர்; நான் அறியாத ஜனங்கள் என்னைச் சேவிக்கிறார்கள்.

நீதிமான்களுடைய பாதை நடுப்பகல்வரைக்கும் அதிகமதிகமாய்ப் பிரகாசிக்கிற சூரியப்பிரகாசம்போலிருக்கும்.

தாவீதின் சிங்காசனத்தையும் அவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தையும் அவர் திடப்படுத்தி அதை இதுமுதற்கொண்டு என்றென்றைக்கும் நியாயத்திலும் நீதியினாலும் நிலைப்படுத்தும்படிக்கு, அவருடைய கர்த்தத்துவத்தின் பெருக்கத்துக்கும், அதின் சமாதானத்துக்கும் முடிவில்லை; சேனைகளின் கர்த்தருடைய வைராக்கியம் இதைச் செய்யும்.

இதோ அக்காலத்திலே உன்னைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்தின யாவரையும் தண்டிப்பேன்; நொண்டியானவனை இரட்சித்து தள்ளுண்டவனைச் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளுவேன்; அவர்கள் வெட்கம் அநுபவித்த சகல தேசங்களிலும் அவர்களுக்குப் புகழ்ச்சியும் கீர்த்தியும் உண்டாகச் செய்வேன்.

அவருடைய கீர்த்தி சீரியா எங்கும் பிரசித்தமாயிற்று. அப்பொழுது பலவித வியாதிகளையும் வேதனைகளையும் அடைந்திருந்த சகல பிணியாளிகளையும், பிசாசு பிடித்தவர்களையும் சந்திரரோகிகளையும் திமிர்வாதக்காரரையும் அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். அவர்களைச் சொஸ்தமாக்கினார்.
