தன் மகளாகிய தீனாளை அவன் தீட்டுப்படுத்தினதை யாக்கோபு கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவனுடைய மகன்கள் அவனுடைய மந்தையினிடத்தில் வயல்வெளியிலே இருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் வரும்வரைக்கும் யாக்கோபு பேசாமலிருந்தான்.

அப்சலோம் அம்னோனோடே நன்மையாகிலும் தீமையாகிலும் பேசவில்லை; தன் சகோதரியாகிய தாமாரை அம்னோன் கற்பழித்த காரியத்தினிமித்தம் அப்சலோம் அவனைப் பகைத்தான்.

அந்நாளிலே கலப்பு நிறமும் வரியுமுள்ள வெள்ளாட்டுக் கடாக்களையும், புள்ளியும் வரியுமுள்ள வெள்ளாடுகள் யாவையும், சற்று வெண்மையும் கருமையுமுள்ள செம்மறியாடுகள் யாவையும் பிரித்து, தன் குமாரரிடத்தில் ஒப்புவித்து,

அப்பொழுது மோசே ஆரோனை நோக்கி: என்னிடத்தில் சேருகிறவர்களால் நான் பரிசுத்தம்பண்ணப்பட்டு, சகல ஜனங்களுக்கும் முன்பாக நான் மகிமைப்படுவேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொன்னது இதுதான் என்றான்; ஆரோன் பேசாமலிருந்தான்.

ஆனாலும் பேலியாளின் மக்கள்: இவனா நம்மை ரட்சிக்கப்போகிறவன் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்குக் காணிக்கை கொண்டு வராமல் அவனை அசட்டைபண்ணினார்கள்; அவனோ காதுகேளாதவன் போல இருந்தான்.
