પરંતુ યાજક સાદોકે, યહોયાદાના પુત્ર બનાયા, પ્રબોધક નાથાન, શિમઈ, રેઈ અને દાઉદના સૈન્યના સરદારોએ અદોનિયાને સાથ આપવાનો ઇન્કાર કર્યો,

| Shimei, and | וְשִׁמְעִ֣י | wĕšimʿî | veh-sheem-EE |
| and Rei, | וְרֵעִ֔י | wĕrēʿî | veh-ray-EE |
| and the mighty men | וְהַגִּבּוֹרִ֖ים | wĕhaggibbôrîm | veh-ha-ɡee-boh-REEM |
| which | אֲשֶׁ֣ר | ʾăšer | uh-SHER |
| belonged to David, | לְדָוִ֑ד | lĕdāwid | leh-da-VEED |
| were | לֹ֥א | lōʾ | loh |
| not | הָי֖וּ | hāyû | ha-YOO |
