1 Samuel 17:4
પલિસ્તીઓની છાવણીમાંથી ગોલ્યાથ નામનો એક યોદ્ધો ઇસ્રાએલીઓને દ્વંદ્ધયુદ્ધ માંટે પડકારવા બહાર આવ્યો. તે ગાથનો વતની હતો. તે આશરે નવ ફૂટ ઊંચો હતો.

વળી, સાડાસાત ફૂટ ઊંચા મહાકાય મિસરીને મારનાર પણ એ જ હતો. એ મિસરી પાસે સાળના પાટડા જેવો મોટો ભાલો હતો. પણ બનાયા ફકત એક લાકડી લઇને તેની સામે પહોંચી ગયો. અને તેના હાથમાંથી ભાલો ઝૂંટવી તેના જ ભાલા વડે તેને મારી નાંખ્યો.
1 Chronicles 20:4
કેટલાંક સમય પછી ગેઝરમાં પલિસ્તીઓ સાથેનું યુદ્ધ ફરી ફાટી નીકળ્યું. એ વખતે હુશાના સિબ્બખાયે રફાઇમના એક વંશજ સિપ્પાયને મારી નાખ્યો. અને પલિસ્તીઓ હારી ગયા.
Amos 2:9
“તમે જ્યારે કેનાનમાં દાખલ થયા ત્યારે અમોરીઓ ત્યાં હતા, તેઓ દેવદારના વૃક્ષ જેવા ઊંચા અને ઓક વૃક્ષ જેવા ખડતલ હતા. પણ તમારા માટે મેં તેઓને સમાપ્ત કર્યા હતા, હા, મે તેઓની શાખાઓ અને તેઓના મૂળિયાઓનો નાશ કર્યો.
