2 Samuel 21
1 દાઉદના શાસનકાળ દરમ્યાન ત્રણ વર્ષ સુધી દેશમાં દુષ્કાળ પડયો, આથી દાઉદે યહોવાને પ્રાર્થના કરી અને યહોવાએ જવાબ આપ્યો , “શાઉલ અને તેના ખૂનીઓના કુટુંબઆ કુળ માંટે કારણરુપ છે, કારણ તેણે ગિબયોનીઓની હત્યા કરી હતી.”
2 તેથી રાજા દાઉદે ગિબયોનના લોકોને બોલાવ્યા, તેઓ ઇસ્રાએલીઓના પુત્રો નહોતાં પણ તેઓ ત્યાં રહેતા બીજા અમોરીઓના પુત્રો હતાં. ઇસ્રાએલપુત્રોએ તેઓનો નાશ નહિ કરવા માંટે પ્રતિજ્ઞા લીધી હતી, પણ શાઉલને ઇસ્રાએલ અને યહૂદા માંટે ઊંડી લાગણી હતી તેથી તેણે તેઓનો વિનાશ કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કર્યો હતો.
3 આથી દાઉદે ગિબયોનના લોકોને બોલાવ્યા અને કહ્યું, “હું તમાંરા માંટે શું કરું? હું કેવું પ્રાયશ્ચિત કરું તો તમે યહોવાના લોકો અમાંરા માંટે પ્રાર્થના કરો કે, દેવ અમને આશીર્વાદ આપે?”
4 “તેમણે અમાંરા માંટે જે કર્યુ છે તેના બદલા તરીકે સોનું અને ચાંદી શાઉલના કુટુંબ માંટે પૂરતા નથી અને અમને ઇસ્રાએલના કોઇ પણ માંણસને માંરી નાખવાનો અધિકાર નથી.”એટલે દાઉદે કહ્યું, “તો તમે માંરી પાસે શું કરાવવા માંગો છો?”
5 તેઓએ કહ્યું, “જે માંણસે અમાંરો નાશ કરવાનું અને આખા ઇસ્રાએલમાંથી અમાંરું નિકંદન કાઢવાનું યોજયું હતું.
6 એટલે તમે અમને તેના સાત પુત્રો સુપ્રત કરો અને અમે તેમને યહોવાએ પસંદ કરેલા રાજા શાઉલના ગામ ગિબયાહમાં લઇ જઇશું અને ફાંસી આપીશું.”રાજાએ કહ્યું. “હું તેઓને તમને સોંપી દઈશ.”
7 પરંતુ દાઉદ અને યોનાથાને યહોવાની સાક્ષીએ લીધેલી પ્રતિજ્ઞાને કારણે દાઉદે યોનાથાનના પુત્ર અને શાઉલના પૌત્ર મફીબોશેથની સુરક્ષા કરી. દાઉદે યોનાથાનના પુત્ર મફીબોશેથને જીવતો છોડી મૂક્યો.
8 દાઉદે રિસ્પાહ અને શાઉલના પુત્રો અમોર્ની અને મફીબોશેથને પણ આપ્યા અને શાઉલની પુત્રી મેરાબના જે મહોલાહના બાઝિર્લ્લાય આદ્રીયેલની પત્ની હતી તેના પાંચ પુત્રોને પણ,
9 તેણે તેઓને લઇને ગિબયોનના લોકોને આપ્યા. ગિબયોનીઓએ આ માંણસોને ગિલ્યાદ પર્વત પર લઇ ગયા અને યહોવા સમક્ષ ફાંસીએ લટકાવ્યા, તે સાતેય જણ એક સાથે માંર્યા ગયા. તે સમયે જવની કાપણીની શરૂઆત થઇ રહી હતી.
10 ત્યારબાદ રિસ્પાહે શોકના વસ્ત્રો લીધા અને ખડક ઉપર મૂક્યાં, તે કાપણીની શરૂઆતથી તે ચોમાંસુ આવ્યું ત્યાં સુધી ત્યાં રહ્યાં. રિસ્પાહે શબ ઉપર ચોકી પહેરો રાખ્યો. તે દિવસે દરમ્યાન કોઈ જંગલી પક્ષીને કે રાત દરમ્યાન કોઈ જંગલી પશુને તેના પર આવવા દેતી નહોતી.
11 જયારે દાઉદને આયાની પુત્રી રિસ્પાહે એટલે શાઉલની ઉપપત્નીએ જે કર્યુ હતું તેની જાણ થઈ,
12 ત્યારે તે યાબેશ ગિલયાદના લોકો પાસે ગયો અને શાઉલનાં અને તેના પુત્ર યોનાથાનનાં અસ્થિ લઈ લીધાં. જે દિવસે પલિસ્તીઓએ ગિલયાદના ડુંગર ઉપર શાઉલને હરાવ્યો હતો તે દિવસે તેઓએ શાઉલ અને તેના પુત્રોનાં મૃતદેહોને બેથશાનના દરવાજા પર ખુલ્લા ચોકમાં લટકાવ્યાં હતાં, તે સ્થળેથી તેઓ તેઓના અસ્થિ લાવ્યા હતા.
13 દાઉદ શાઉલનાં અને તેના પુત્ર યોનાથાનનાં અસ્થિ ત્યાંથી લઈ આવ્યો, જે સાત જણને ફાંસી આપવામાં આવી હતી તેમનાં અસ્થિ પણ ભેગાં કરવામાં આવ્યાં.
14 પછી બિન્યામીન પ્રદેશના શાઉલના પિતા કીશની કબરમાં તેઓએ શાઉલના અને તેના પુત્ર યોનાથાનનાં અસ્થિ દફનાવ્યાં. બધું રાજાની આજ્ઞા પ્રમાંણે કરવામાં આવ્યું, ત્યારબાદ યહોવાએ તેઓની દેશ માંટેની પ્રાર્થના સાંભળી.
15 ફરીથી પલિસ્તીઓ અને ઇસ્રાએલીઓની લડાઇ થઇ. દાઉદ અને તેનું આખું સૈન્ય તે વખતે પૂર જોશમાં લડ્યા. દાઉદ થાકી ગયો.
16 તે વખતે યિશ્બીબનોબ વિરાટકાય માંણસોમાંનો એક હતો, તેની પાસે નવી તરવાર અને એક ભાલો હતો, તે આશરે સાડાસાત પાઉન્ડનો હતો. તેને દાઉદને માંરી નાખવો હતો.
17 પરંતુ સરૂયાનો પુત્ર અબીશાય દાઉદનું રક્ષણ કરવા આવી પહોંચ્યો.તેણે પેલા પલિસ્તીઓ પર હુમલો કરીને તેને માંરી નાખ્યો, ત્યાર બાદ દાઉદના માંણસોએ તેને આગ્રહ કર્યો કે, “હવે કદી તમાંરે અમાંરી સાથે યુદ્ધમાં આવવું નહિ, ઇસ્રાએલનો દીવો હોલવાઈ જાય તેવું જોખમ અમાંરે શા માંટે લેવું?”
18 થોડા સમય પછી ફરીથી પલિસ્તીઓ સાથે ગોબમાં યુદ્ધ થયું, એ વખતે હુશાથી સિબ્બખાયે સાફ કે જે બીજો વિરાટકાય માંણસ હતો તેને માંરી નાખ્યો.
19 ફરીથી ગોબમાં પલિસ્તીઓ સાથે બીજું યુદ્ધ થયું એલ્હાનાએ ગિત્તી ગોલ્યાથના ભાઈને માંરી નાખ્યો, જેની પાસે એક ભાલો વણકરની સાળના પાટડા જેવો મોટો હતો.
20 ત્યારબાદ ફરીથી પલિસ્તીઓ સાથે ગાથમાં યુદ્ધ થયું, તેમાં એક મહાકાય યોદ્વો એવો હતો જેને તેના હાથમાં અને પગમાં છ છ આંગળીઓ હતી, તે પણ મહાકાય માંણસોના કુળનો હતો.
21 આ માંણસે ઇસ્રાએલને પડકાર કર્યો અને તેઓની ઠેકડી ઊડાડી પણ દાઉદના ભાઈ શિમાંયના પુત્ર યોનાથાને તેને માંરી નાખ્યો.
22 આ ચારેય મહાકાય માંણસો ગાથના હતા, અને એ બધા જ દાઉદના સૈનિકોના હાથે માંર્યા ગયા હતા.
1 Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.
2 And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)
3 Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the Lord?
4 And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.
5 And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,
6 Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the Lord in Gibeah of Saul, whom the Lord did choose. And the king said, I will give them.
7 But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the Lord’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:
9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the Lord: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.
10 And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
11 And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
12 And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:
13 And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.
14 And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.
15 Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.
16 And Ishbi-benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.
17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.
18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.
19 And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.
21 And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.
22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
Jeremiah 20 in Tamil and English
1 ઈમ્મેરનો પુત્ર યાજક પાશહૂર યહોવાના મંદિરના રક્ષકોનો ઉપરી હતો. તેણે યમિર્યાને આવી ભવિષ્યવાણી ભાખતો સાંભળ્યો,
Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the Lord, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
2 તેથી તેણે યમિર્યાની ધરપકડ કરી અને તેને કોરડાથી ફટકાર્યો, પછી તેણે તેને મંદિરના બિન્યામીન દરવાજા આગળ સાંકળોથી બાધ્યો.
Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the Lord.
3 બીજા દિવસે સવારે પાશહૂરે યમિર્યાને હેડમાંથી છૂટો કર્યો ત્યારે યમિર્યાએ તેને કહ્યું, “યહોવા તને પાશહૂર નહિ કહે, પણ માગોર-મિસ્સાબીબ (સર્વત્ર ત્રાસ) કહેશે.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The Lord hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.
4 કારણ કે યહોવા તારા પર તથા તારા સર્વ મિત્રો પર ભય મોકલશે અને તેઓના શત્રુઓની તરવારોથી તેઓને તું મૃત્યુ પામતાં જોશે. આખો યહૂદિયા હું બાબિલના રાજાને સોંપી દઇશ. તે તેમને કેદ કરીને બાબિલ લઇ જશે અને ત્યાં તરવારથી મારી નાખશે.
For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
5 આ શહેરની સર્વ સંપત્તિ, એના બધા ભંડારો અને કિમતી વસ્તુઓ, યહૂદિયાના રાજાનો બધો ખજાનો હું તેમના શત્રુઓને સોંપી દઇશ, શત્રુઓ લૂંટમાર કરીને એનો કબજો લેશે અને બાબિલ લઇ જવામાં આવશે.
Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
6 તું, પાશહૂર, અને તારું કુટુંબ કેદ પકડાશો, તમને બાબિલ લઇ જવામાં આવશે, અને ત્યાં તમારું મોત થશે અને ત્યાં તમે દટાશો. તું અને તારા બધા મિત્રો, જેમને તેં ખોટી ભવિષ્યવાણી સંભળાવેલી છે.”‘
And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies.
7 પછી મેં કહ્યું, “હે યહોવા, તમે મને યુકિતપૂર્વક છેતર્યો છે. તમારા સંદેશાઓ આપવા માટે તમે મને દબાણ કર્યુ. કારણ કે મારા કરતાં તમે અતિ બળવાન છો. પરંતુ હવે હું બધા દિવસો હાંસીપાત્ર થયો છું અને સર્વ લોકો મારી મશ્કરી કરે છે.
O Lord, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.
8 કેમ કે જ્યારે જ્યારે હું બોલું છું ત્યારે ત્યારે ઘાટાં પાડીને એક જ વાત કહેવાની છે, ‘હિંસા અને વિનાશ!’ હે યહોવા, તારી વાણી સંભળાવવાને કારણે આખો દિવસ મારે હાંસી અને નામોશી સહન કરવી પડે છે.”
For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the Lord was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
9 હું જો એમ કહું કે, “હવે હું યહોવાને સંભારીશ નહિ, એને નામે બોલું જ નહિ.” તો તારી એ વાણી મારા અંગે અંગમાં ભંડારાયેલી આગની જેમ મારા અંતરમાં ભડભડી ઊઠે છે; અને હું તેને કાબૂમાં રાખવા મથું છું, પણ નથી રાખી શકતો.
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
10 ચારે બાજુથી હું તેઓની ધમકીઓ ઉચ્ચારાતી સાંભળું છું અને મને ડર લાગે છે, તેઓ કહે છે, “આપણે ફરિયાદ કરીશું. જેઓ મારા મિત્રો હતા તેઓ સાવધાનીથી મને નિહાળે છે કે, ક્યારે ભયંકર ભૂલ કરી બેસું. તે પોતે જ ફસાઇ જશે અને ત્યારે આપણે તેના પર આપણું વૈર વાળીશું. તેઓ આ પ્રમાણે કહે છે.”
For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.
11 પરંતુ મહાન યોદ્ધાની જેમ યહોવા મારી પડખે ઊભા છે. તે પરાક્રમી તથા ભયાવહ છે. મારા જુલમગારો ઠોકર ખાશે, તેઓ નહિ ફાવે, તેઓ નિષ્ફળ જતાં ભારે ફજેત થશે; તેઓ બધી રીતે અપમાનિત થશે અને સદાને માટે તેઓ પર કલંક લાગશે.
But the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
12 હે સૈન્યોના દેવ યહોવા, તમે સતનું પારખું કરો છો, મારા મનનો અને હૃદયનો તાગ લો છો; અને હું ઇચ્છું છું કે હું તમને એમના પર બદલો વાળતા જોવા પામુંં, કારણ કે મેં મારો દાવો ફકત તમને સોંપ્યો છે.
But, O Lord of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.
13 યહોવાના ગીત ગાઓ, એમનાં ગુણગાન કરો. કારણ, તેણે દુષ્ટોના હાથમાંથી દરિદ્રીઓનું જીવન ઉગારી લીધુ છે.
Sing unto the Lord, praise ye the Lord: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
14 તેમ છતાં મારા જન્મનો દિવસ શાપિત થાઓ!
Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
15 તને પુત્ર થયો છે એવી વધામણી મારા પિતાને આપનાર માણસ શાપિત થાઓ.
Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad.
16 તે માણસના હાલ એ પુરાતન નગરોના જેવા થાવ. જેનો યહોવાએ દયા રાખ્યા વગર નાશ કર્યો છે, ભલે તેને આખો દિવસ રણનાદ સંભળાય; સવારમાં આર્તનાદ અને બપોરે યુદ્ધનાદ સંભળાય,
And let that man be as the cities which the Lord overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;
17 કારણ કે, તેણે મને ગર્ભમાં જ મારી ન નાખ્યો, તો મારી માતા જ મારી કબર બની હોત, તેનું ઉદર સદા માટે મોટું રહ્યું હોત.
Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
18 હું કષ્ટો અને દુ:ખ સહન કરવા માટે, શરમાળ જીવન જીવવા માટે શું કામ ગર્ભમાંથી બહાર આવ્યો?
Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
