હું તો કતલખાને દોરી જવાતા ગરીબ ઘેટા જેવો હતો. મને ખબર નહોતી કે તેઓ મારી વિરુદ્ધ કાવતરું રચી રહ્યા હતા અને કહેતા હતા કે, “ઝાડ જોરમાં છે ત્યાં જ આપણે એને કાપી નાખીએ; આપણે તેને જીવતાનાં જગતમાંથી હતો ન હતો કરી નાખીએ, એટલે એનું નામ પણ ભૂલાઇ જાય.”
