Judges 2:12
યહોવાએ કરેલી મદદને કારણે તેઓ મિસરમાંથી બહાર આવી ગયા. પણ તેઓએ તેમના પિતૃઓને મદદ કરનાર દેવ યહોવાને છોડી દીધા અને તેમની આસપાસના દેવોની પૂજા કરવા લાગ્યા. અન્ય દેવોની પૂજા કરીને તેઓએ યહોવાને કોપ વધારી દીધો.

તેથી ખાતરી કરો કે તમાંરામાંથી કોઈ પણ વ્યકિત-પુરુષ, સ્ત્રી, કુટુંબ કે ઇસ્રાએલનું કોઈ કુળ-તમાંરા યહોવા દેવ તરફથી ભટકી જઈને બીજી પ્રજાઓના આ દેવોની પૂજા કરવા ન ઇચ્છે. ખાતરી કરો કે તમાંરામાં કોઇ કડવું અને ઝેરી છોડ જેવું તો નથી ને.
Deuteronomy 13:5
જે પ્રબોધક અથવા સ્વપ્નદૃષ્ટા તમને લોકોને તમાંરા દેવ યહોવાથી દૂર લઈ જવા પ્રયત્ન કરે તેને મૃત્યુ તરફ ધકેલો, તેના પર સહાનુભૂતિ અનુભવવી નહિ. કારણ કે, તે જેણે તમને ગુલામીમાંથી મુકત કર્યા અને મિસરમાંથી આઝાદ કર્યા. તમાંરા દેવ યહોવાની સામે બળવો કરવાનું કહે છે. એ તમને તમાંરા દેવ યહોવાએ જે માંગેર્ જવાનું જણાવ્યું છે તે માંગેર્થી ચલિત કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરે છે. તમાંરી વચ્ચેથી તમાંરે એ અનિષ્ટ દૂર કરવું જ જોઈએ.

અને તમાંરે તેને નમસ્કાર કરીને તેમની પૂજા કરવી નહિ. કારણ કે, હું તમાંરો દેવ યહોવા અનન્ય નિષ્ઠાની અપેક્ષા રાખનાર દેવ છું. જે માંરો તિરસ્કાર કરે છે, તેમનાં સંતાનોને હું ત્રીજી તથા ચોથી પેઢી સુધી તેમનાં પાપોની શિક્ષા કરું છું.
Judges 5:8
ઈસ્રાએલીઓએ નવા દેવ પસંદ કર્યા, પછી તેઓને નગર દરવાજે લડવું પડતું હતું. ભલે તેઓ સંખ્યાની દૃષ્ટિએ 40,000 યોદ્ધાઓ હતાં, પરંતુ તેમની પાસે તરવાર કે બખ્તર નહોતાં!
Deuteronomy 33:17
એ મહાન પ્રતાપી બળદના જેવો છે, એનાં શિંગડાં રાની સાંઢના જેવાં છે, જે ભોંકી ભોંકીને તે પ્રજાઓને પૃથ્વીને છેડે હાંકી કાઢશે. એફાઈમના અસંખ્ય યોદ્વાઓ અને મનાશ્શાના હજારો યોદ્વાઓ એના શિંગડાં છે.”

પરંતુ યશુરૂને પસંદ કરેલા લોકોએ ચરબી વધારી અને રાજદ્રોહ કર્યો. ઇસ્રાએલના લોકો જાડાં અને ખાધે સુખી હતાં અને બગડી ગયા હતાં. તેઓએ તેમના સર્જનહાર દેવને છોડી દીધા. તેઓ, તેમને બચાવનારા તેમના બળવાન તારણહારની ધૃણા કરવાનંુ શરુ કર્યું.
Deuteronomy 31:16
યહોવાએ મૂસાને કહ્યું, “તારા પિતૃઓની જેમ તું પણ હવે મરવાની અણી પર છે. આ લોકો જે દેશમાં જઈ રહ્યા છે તેમાં જઈ વિદેશીઓ ભેગા રહેશે એટલે માંરા પ્રત્યેની ભકિતથી ચલિત થઈને તેઓ તે લોકોના દેવોની પૂજા કરવા માંડશે, મને છોડી દેશે અને મેં તેમની સાથે કરેલા કરારનો તેઓ ભંગ કરશે.
