Acts 22:25
તેથી સૈનિકો પાઉલને બાંધીને મારવાની તૈયારી કરતા હતા. પણ પાઉલે લશ્કરી સૂબેદારને કહ્યું, “શું તમને જે દોષિત સાબિત થયેલ નથી તે રોમન નાગરિકને મારવાનો અધીકાર છે?”

પરંતુ લશ્કરી સૂબેદાર પાઉલને જીવતો રાખવા ઈચ્છતો હતો. તેથી તેણે સૈનિકોને કેદીઓને મારી નાખવાની પરવાનગી આપી નહિ. જુલિયસે જે લોકો તરવા માટે પાણીમાં કૂદકો મારી જમીન સુધી તરી જઈ શકે તેમ હોય તેને પ્રથમ તેમ કરવા કહ્યું.

બીજે દિવસે અમે સદોન શહેરમાં આવ્યા. જુલિયસ પાઉલ તરફ ઘણો સારો હતો. તેણે પાઉલને તેના મિત્રોની મુલાકાત લેવા જવાની છૂટ આપી. આ મિત્રો પાઉલની જરૂરિયાતોના કાળજી રાખતા.

તે નિર્ણય કરવામાં આવ્યો કે આપણે ઇટાલી તરફ વહાણ હંકારવું. જુલિયસ નામનો લશ્કરી સૂબેદાર પાઉલ અને બીજા કેટલાએક બંદીવાનોની ચોકી કરતો હતો. જુલિયસ પાદશાહના સૈન્યમાં સેવા કરતો હતો.
Acts 25:16
પરંતુ મેં જવાબ આપ્યો. “જ્યારે કોઈ માણસ પર કંઈક ખોટું કરવાના તહોમતો મૂકવામાં આવે તો રોમનો બીજા લોકોને તે માણસનો ન્યાય કરવા માટે આપતા ન હતા. પ્રથમ તે માણસને જે માણસોએ તેની સામે ફરિયાદ કરી હોય તેનો સામનો કરવાની તક આપવી જોઈએ. અને તેને તેઓએ તેની વિરૂદ્ધ કરેલી ફરિયાદોનો બચાવ તેની જાતે કરવાની પરવાનગી પણ આપવી જોઈએ.

પછી પાઉલે એક લશ્કરના અમલદારને બોલાવ્યો અને તેને કહ્યું, “આ યુવાન માણસને સરદારની પાસે લઈ જા. તેની પાસે તેને માટે સંદેશો છે.”
