Amos 7
1 યહોવા દેવે મને આ દ્રશ્ય બતાવ્યું: પ્રથમ લણણી પછી પહેલો પાક રાજાને કર તરીકે અપાતો, જ્યારે બીજો પાક ફૂટી નીકળતો. યહોવાએ તીડનુંસર્જન કર્યું.
2 તે તીડો ખેતર પરનું ઘાસ ખાઇ ગયા ત્યારે મે કહ્યું, “હે સૈન્યોનો દેવ યહોવા અમને માફ કરો.” આ પછી ઇસ્રાએલીઓ કેવી રીતે જીવતા રહી શકે? કેમકે તેઓ નાના છે તે માટે.”
3 તેથી યહોવાને આ વિષે પશ્ચાત્તાપ થયો; તેમણે મને કહ્યું, “હું તે થવા દઇશ નહિ.”
4 સૈન્યોનો દેવ યહોવાએ મને આ બીજું દ્રશ્ય બતાવ્યું: સૈન્યોનો દેવ યહોવા અગ્નિપરીક્ષા કરવા બોલાવતાં હતાં. તેણે મોટા સાગરને સૂકવી નાખ્યો અને જમીનને ભસ્મિભૂત કરી દીધી.
5 ત્યાં મેં કહ્યું, “હે યહોવા દેવ, કૃપા કરીને તેમ થવા દેશો નહિ. તમે જો તેઓની વિરૂદ્ધ થાઓ તો તેઓ પાસે બીજી કઇ આશા છે? ઇસ્રાએલ ઘણું નાનું છે.”
6 યહોવાને એ વિષે પશ્ચાતાપ થયો, યહોવા દેવ કહે છે, “એ પણ થશે નહિ.”
7 પછી યહોવાએ મને દ્રશ્ય બતાવ્યું. પોતે હાથમાં ઓળંબો પકડીને ભીંત પાસે ઊભા છે. દીવાલની સપાટી માપવા માટે ઓળંબો વપરાય છે.
8 યહોવાએ મને પુછયું, “આમોસ, તને શું દેખાય છે?” મેં કહ્યું, “એક ઓળંબો.”યહોવાએ કહ્યું, “હું મારા લોકોની આ ઓળંબાથી પરીક્ષા લઇશ, હું તેઓના ખોટા કાર્યોની સજા આપ્યા વગર જવા દઇશ નહિ.
9 ઇસહાકનાઁ વંશજોના થાનકો ખેદાનમેદાન થઇ જશે. ઇસ્રાએલનાઁ પવિત્રસ્થાનો ખંડેર થઇ જશે. યરોબઆમના વંશને હું તરવારને ઘાટ ઉતારીશ.”
10 પછી બેથેલના યાજક અમાસ્યાએ આમોસના વચનો સાંભળ્યાં ત્યારે તેણે યરોબઆમ રાજા પર ઝડપથી સંદેશો મોકલ્યો: “આપણા દેશમાં આમોશ રાજદ્રોહી છે, અને તમારા મરણ માટે કાવતરું ઘડે છે. આ બાબત અસહ્ય છે. તેના લીધે કદાચ દેશમાં બળવો ફાટી નીકળશે.
11 તે કહે છે કે, ‘યરોબઆમ યુદ્ધમાં માર્યો જશે, અને ઇસ્રાએલના લોકોએ નિશ્ચિત તેઓનો દેશ છોડવો પડશે અને દેશવટો લઇ જવું પડશે.”‘
12 વળિ અમાસ્યાએ આમોસને કહ્યું, “ઓ થઇ પડેલા દ્રષ્ટા, ભાગ! યહૂદિયાના દેશમાં ચાલ્યો જા! અને ત્યાં તારો પ્રબોધ કર. અને રોટલો ખા.
13 પણ હવે પછી તારા દર્શનોથી અહીં બેથેલમાં પ્રબોધ કરીશ નહિ. કારણકે એ તો રાજાનું પવિત્રસ્થાન છે, ને એ રાજમંદિર છે.”
14 પછી આમોસે અમાસ્યાને પ્રત્યુત્તરમાં કહ્યું, “હું સાચે જ પ્રબોધક નથી. હું પ્રબોધકના કુટુંબમાંથી પણ આવતો નથી, હું તો માત્ર ભરવાડ અને જે અંજીરના વૃક્ષની સંભાળ રાખે છે તે છું.
15 હું ઘેટાઁનાં ટોળાં સાચવતો હતો ત્યારે યહોવાએ મને બોલાવ્યો અને કહ્યું, ‘જા અને મારા ઇસ્રાએલના લોકોને પ્રબોધ કર.’
16 એટલે હવે તું યહોવાના વચન સાંભળ: ‘તું મને એમ કહે છે કે, તું ઇસ્રાએલ વિરૂદ્ધ પ્રબોધ કરીશ નહિ અને ઇસહાકના વંશજો વિરૂદ્ધ બોલીશ નહિ.’
17 પરંતુ યહોવાનો સંદેશો આ છે, ‘અમાસ્યા, તારી પત્ની શહેરની વારાંગના બનશે, અને તારા સંતાનોની હત્યા થશે. તારી ભૂમિ દોરીથી માપીને બીજાઓને વહેંચાશે, તું પોતે અપવિત્ર ભૂમિમાં મૃત્યુ પામશે, ને ઇસ્રાએલી લોકોને કેદ પકડી તેમના દેશમાંથી તેમને દેશવટો દેવામાં આવશે.”‘
1 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.
2 And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
3 The Lord repented for this: It shall not be, saith the Lord.
4 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord God called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.
5 Then said I, O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
6 The Lord repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord God.
7 Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.
8 And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:
9 And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
10 Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
11 For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.
12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
13 But prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.
14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
15 And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
16 Now therefore hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.
17 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.

1 પોંતિયુસ પિલાત તિબેરિયસ કૈસરના રાજ્યશાસનના 15 માં વર્ષ યહૂદિયાનો અધિપતિ હતો. ગાલીલ પર હેરોદ; ત્રાખોનિતિયા અને યટૂરિયા પર હેરોદનો ભાઈ ફિલિપ, લુસાનિયાસ, અબિલેનીનો રાજા હતો.
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,
2 અન્નાસ અને કાયાફા પ્રમુખ યાજકો હતા. તે સમય દરમ્યાન ઝખાર્યાના દીકરા યોહાનને દેવે આજ્ઞા કરી. યોહાન તો અરણ્યમાં રહેતો હતો.
Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
3 તેથી યોહાને યર્દન નદીની આજુબાજુના પ્રદેશમાં યાત્રા કરીને લોકોને પસ્તાવો કરવા માટે, પાપોની માફીની ખાતરી મેળવવા તથા બાપ્તિસ્મા પામીને જીવન ગુજારવાનો ઉપદેશ આપ્યો.
And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
4 યશાયા પ્રબોધકના પુસ્તકમાં લખેલા વચનો મુજબ:“અરણ્યમાં કોઈ વ્યક્તિનો પોકાર સંભળાય છે: ‘પ્રભુને માટે માર્ગ તૈયાર કરો. તેનો માર્ગ સીધો બનાવો.
As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
5 પ્રત્યેક ખીણો પૂરી દેવાશે. અને બધાજ પર્વતો અને ટેકરીઓ સપાટ બનાવાશે. રસ્તાના વળાંક સીધા કરવામાં આવશે. અને ખાડા ટેકરાવાળા રસ્તાઓ સરખા કરવામાં આવશે.
Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
6 પ્રત્યેક વ્યક્તિ દેવનું તારણ જોશે!”‘ યશાયા 40:3-5
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
7 ત્યારે ઘણા લોકો તેનાથી બાપ્તિસ્મા પામવા સારું આવ્યા. યોહાને તેઓને કહ્યું: “તમે ઝેરીલા સાપો જેવા છો, દેવનો કોપ અને જેણે તમને તેમાંથી બચવા માટે ચેતવણી આપી છે તેમાંથી ઉગારવા માટે તમને કોણે સાવધાન કર્યા?
Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 તમે એવાં કામ કરો કે જે દર્શાવે કે તમે તમારું હ્રદય પરિવર્તન કર્યું છે. તમારી જાતને તમે કહેવાનું શરું ના કરશો. ‘ઈબ્રાહિમ અમારો પિતા છે.’ કારણ કે હું તમને કહું છું કે દેવ આ પથ્થરોમાંથી પણ ઈબ્રાહિમ માટે સંતાન ઉત્પન્ન કરી શકે છે.
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
9 વૃક્ષો કાપવા માટે હવે કુહાડી તૈયાર છે. દરેક વૃક્ષ જે સારાં ફળ ન આપતાં હોય તે બધાને કાપી નાખીને અજ્ઞિમાં નાખી દેવામાં આવશે.”
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
10 લોકોના ટોળાએ યોહાનને પૂછયું, “અમારે શું કરવું જોઈએ?”
And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?
11 યોહાને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “જો તમારી પાસે બે અંગરખા હોય તો જેની પાસે એક પણ નથી તેને આપો. અને જેની પાસે ખોરાક હોય તો તે પણ વહેંચવો જોઈએ.”
He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
12 જકાતનાકાના કર ઉઘરાવનારા અમલદારો પણ બાપ્તિસ્મા પામવા તેની પાસે આવ્યા. તેઓએ યોહાનને પૂછયું, “ઉપદેશક, અમારે શું કરવું?”
Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?
13 યોહાને તેમને કહ્યું, “તમને જેટલી જકાત લેવાનો હુકમ કર્યો હોય તેનાથી વધારે જકાત લોકો પાસેથી ઉઘરાવો નહિ.”
And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.
14 સૈનિકોએ યોહાનને પૂછયું, “અમારું શું? અમારે શું કરવું જોઈએ?”યોહાને તેઓને કહ્યું, “બળજબરીથી કોઈની પાસેથી પૈસા લેશો નહિ. કોઈને માટે જુઠું બોલશો નહિ. તમને જે કંઈ પગારમાં મળે છે તેમાં સંતોષ રાખો.”
And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.
15 બધાજ લોકો ખ્રિસ્તના આગમનની પ્રતિક્ષા કરી રહ્યા હતા અને યોહાન અંગે નવાઇ પામી વિચારતા હતા કે, “કદાચ યોહાન એ તો ખ્રિસ્ત નહિ હોય.”
And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;
16 યોહાને બધા લોકોને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “મેં તો તમારું ફક્ત પાણીથી બાપ્તિસ્મા કર્યુ પણ હું જે કરું છું, તેનાથી વધારે શક્તિશાળી વ્યક્તિનું આગમન થઈ રહ્યું છે. હું તો તેના પગના જોડાની દોરી ખોલવા માટે પણ યોગ્ય નથી. તે પવિત્ર આત્માથી અને અજ્ઞિથી તમારું બાપ્તિસ્મા કરશે.
John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
17 તેનું સૂંપડું તેના હાથમાં છે. તે ખળીમાંથી દાણા જુદા પાડવા તેયાર છે. તે દાણા ભેગા કરશે અને તેની વખારમાં મૂકશે. અને તે ભૂસાંને આગમાં બાળશે, જે કદી હોલવાશે નહિ.”
Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.
18 યોહાને લોકોને સુવાર્તા આપવાનુ ચાલુ રાખ્યું અને લોકોને મદદરૂપ થવા બીજી ઘણી બાબતો કહી.
And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.
19 યોહાને રાજા હેરોદની તેના ભાઈની પત્નિ સાથેના તેના સંબંધ માટે ટીકા કરી. તથા તેના બીજા ખરાબ કાર્યો માટે યોહાને તેની ટીકા કરી.
But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,
20 તેથી હેરોદે યોહાનને કેદ કરવાનું બીજું એક ખરાબ કામ કર્યુ. આમ હેરોદના દુષ્કર્મોમાં એકનો વધારો થયો.(માથ્થી 3:13-17; માર્ક 1:9-11)
Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.
21 યોહાનને જેલમાં કેદ કરવામાં આવ્યો તે પહેલા, બધાજ લોકો તેના દ્ધારા બાપ્તિસ્મા પામ્યા હતા. પછી ઈસુ પણ બાપ્તિસ્મા પામ્યો. જ્યારે ઈસુ પ્રાર્થના કરતો હતો ત્યારે, આકાશ ઊઘડ્યું.
Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 પવિત્ર આત્મા કબૂતર રૂપે તેના પર ઊતર્યો. ત્યાર બાદ આકાશમાંથી આકાશવાણી થઈ, “તું મારો વહાલો દીકરો છે અને હું તને ચાહું છું. હું તારા પર ખૂબ પ્રસન્ન થયો છું.”
And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
