Ecclesiastes 9:2
બધા લોકો સારા કે ખરાબ, પ્રમાણિક કે દુષ્ટ, અર્પણો અર્પનાર કે નહિ અર્પનાર સૌનું ભાવિ એક જ છે, સારો માણસ અને પાપી, જે પ્રતિજ્ઞા લે છે અને જે નથી લેતો સર્વ સમાન છે.

ઉત્સવોની ઉજવણીમાં સમય બગાડવો તેનાં કરતાં દફનવિધીમાં પસાર કરવો તે વધુ સારું છે. કારણ કે પ્રત્યેક વ્યકિતએ એક દિવસ મરવાનું છે. સમય છે તો તે વિષે વિચારવું વધારે સારું છે.

જો તેનું આયુષ્ય હજાર વર્ષ કરતાં બમણું હોય, અને છતાંય તે કઇં સુખ ભોગવે નહિ; તો તેનો અર્થ શો? શું છેવટે બધાં એક જ ઠેકાણે નથી જતાઁ?

જે લોકો દેવને પ્રસન્ન કરે છે તેઓને તે બુદ્ધિ જ્ઞાન તથા આનંદ આપે છે; પણ પાપીને તે અતિ ભારે પરિશ્રમ આપે છે તેથી તે સંગ્રહ કરે અને ધનવાન બને, અને જેઓ દેવને પ્રસન્ન કરે છે તેઓને માટે તે ધન મૂકીને જાય, અહીં પણ આપણે વ્યર્થ તથા નિરર્થક હવામાં બાચકાં ભરવા જેવું કરીએ છીએ.
Job 21:7
શા માટે દુષ્ટ માણસો લાંબુ જીવે છે? શા માટે તેઓ વૃદ્ધ થાય છે અને સફળ રહે છે?

હું તને આકાશ અને પૃથ્વીના દેવ યહોવાને નામે સમ દેવા ઈચ્છું છું કે, તું કનાનીઓની કોઈ પણ કન્યા સાથે માંરા પુત્રના વિવાહ થવા દઈશ નહિ. અમે લોકો કનાનીઓની વચમાં રહીએ છીએ, પરંતુ કોઈ પણ કનાની કન્યા સાથે તેના લગ્ન થવા ન દેશો.
