આ અયૂબ પર આવી પડેલી આફતોની વાત તેના ત્રણ મિત્રોના જાણવામાં આવી તેઓએ તેમના ઘર છોડ્યા એક બીજાને સાથે મળ્યા. તેઓ અયૂબ પ્રત્યે સહાનુભૂતિ દર્શાવવા અને તેને આશ્વાસન આપવા જવા માટે સંમંત થયા. તે મિત્રોના નામ તેમાનથી અલીફાઝ, શૂહીથી બિલ્દાદ અને નાઅમાંથી સોફાર હતાં.
