ઈસુની મા તેના વધસ્તંભ નજીક ઊભી હતી. તેની માની બહેન કલોપાની પત્ની તથા મગ્દલાની મરિયમ પણ ત્યાં હતી.

કલિયોપાસ નામના એકે ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે, “યરૂશાલેમમાં ફક્ત તું જ એકલો એવો માણસ હશે જે છેલ્લા થોડા દિવસો પહેલાં ત્યાં શું થયું છે તે તું જાણતો નથી.”

ઈસુ અઠવાડિયાના પ્રથમ દિવસે મૂએલામાંથી ઊઠ્યો. ઈસુએ પોતાની જાતે પ્રથમ મરિયમ મગ્દાલાને દર્શન આપ્યા. એક વખત ભૂતકાળમાં ઈસુએ મરિયમમાંથી સાત અશુદ્ધ આત્માઓને બહાર કાઢ્યા હતા.

પણ મરિયમ કબરની બહારની બાજુ ઊભી રહીને રડતી હતી. જ્યારે તે રડતી હતી, તેણે નીચા નમીને કબરની અંદરની બાજુ નજર કરી.
