1 நீங்கள் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் பிள்ளைகள்; செத்தவனுக்காகக் கீறிக் கொள்ளாமலும், உங்கள் கண்களுக்கு இடையிலே சவரம்பண்ணாமலும் இருப்பீர்களாக.
Ye are the children of the Lord your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
2 நீங்கள் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குப் பரிசுத்தமான ஜனங்கள்; பூமியின்மீதெங்குமுள்ள எல்லா ஜனங்களிலும் உங்களையே கர்த்தர் தமக்குச் சொந்த ஜனங்களாயிருக்கத் தெரிந்துகொண்டார்.
For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.
