उसके बहुत दिन बीतने पर सिदकिय्याह राजा ने उसको बुलवा भेजा, और अपने भवन में उस से छिप कर यह प्रश्न किया, क्या यहोवा की ओर से कोई वचन पइुंचा है? यिर्मयाह ने कहा, हां, पहुंचा है। वह यह है, कि तू बाबुल के राजा के वश में कर दिया जाएगा।

यिर्मयाह 42:2
हमारी बिनती ग्रहण कर के अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा से हम सब बचे हुओं के लिये प्रार्थना कर, क्योंकि तू अपनी आंखों से देख रहा है कि हम जो पहले बहुत थे, अब थोड़े ही बच गए हैं।
