1 Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.ಸೈತಾನನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಲು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದನು.

2 David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know the sum of them.ಆದದರಿಂದ ದಾವೀದನು ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಂಗಡಲೂ ಜನರ ಪ್ರಧಾನರ ಸಂಗಡಲೂ--ನಾನು ಜನರ ಲೆಕ್ಕವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬವು ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ದಾನಿನ ವರೆಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಿ ಅವರ ಲೆಕ್ಕವನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.

3 Joab said, Yahweh make his people a hundred times as many as they are: but, my lord the king, aren't they all my lord's servants? why does my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of guilt to Israel?ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋವಾಬನು--ಕರ್ತನು ತನ್ನ ಜನರನ್ನು ಈಗ ಇರುವದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ನೂರರಷ್ಟಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಲಿ; ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನೇ, ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರು ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲವೋ? ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವದು ಯಾಕೆ? ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರಾಧಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗುವದು ಯಾಕೆ ಅಂದನು.

4 Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನ ಮಾತು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಜಯಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಆಗ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಹೊರಟು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ತಿರಿಗಿ ಬಂದು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಜನರ ಒಟ್ಟು ಲೆಕ್ಕವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

5 Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people to David. All those of Israel were one million one hundred thousand men who drew sword: and in Judah were four hundred seventy thousand men who drew sword.ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಹನ್ನೊಂದು ಲಕ್ಷಜನರಾಗಿದ್ದರು; ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಜನರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಲಕ್ಷದ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

6 But he didn't count Levi and Benjamin among them; for the king's word was abominable to Joab.ಆದರೆ ಲೇವಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನ್ಯ ರನ್ನೂ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಎಣಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅರಸನ ಮಾತು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯಕರವಾಗಿತ್ತು.

7 God was displeased with this thing; therefore he struck Israel.ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವು ದೇವರ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟದಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆತನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಬಾಧಿಸಿ ದನು.

8 David said to God, I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing: but now, put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ದೇವರಿಗೆ--ನಾನು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮಹಾಪಾಪಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ದಯದಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನ ಅಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಪರಿಹರಿಸು; ನಾನು ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನವಾಗಿ ನಡೆ ದೆನು ಅಂದನು.

9 Yahweh spoke to Gad, David's seer, saying,ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ದಾವೀದನ ದರ್ಶಿಯಾದ ಗಾದನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ --

10 Go and speak to David, saying, Thus says Yahweh, I offer you three things: choose you one of them, that I may do it to you.ನೀನು ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತ ನಾಡಿ--ಕರ್ತನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಮೂರು ಕಾರ್ಯ ಗಳನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಇಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೋ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳು.

11 So Gad came to David, and said to him, Thus says Yahweh, Take which you will:ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಗಾದನು ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಕರ್ತನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಮೂರು ವರುಷಗಳ ಬರವನ್ನಾದರೂ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಕತ್ತಿಯು ಹತ್ತಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿ ಮೂರು ತಿಂಗಳು ನಿನ್ನ ವೈರಿಗಳ ಮುಂದೆ ನಾಶಹೊಂದುವದನ್ನಾದರೂ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಕರ್ತನ ದೂತನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಮೇರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕರ್ತನ ಕತ್ತಿ ಎಂಬುವ ವ್ಯಾಧಿಯಿಂದ ನಾಶವಾಗುವದನ್ನಾದರೂ ನೀನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೋ.

12 either three years of famine; or three months to be consumed before your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you; or else three days the sword of Yahweh, even pestilence in the land, and the angel of Yahweh destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.ಆದದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿ ಸಿದಾತನಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಹೇಳಬೇಕಾದ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವೇನು ನೋಡಿಕೋ ಅಂದನು.

13 David said to Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall, I pray, into the hand of Yahweh; for very great are his mercies: and let me not fall into the hand of man.ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಗಾದ ನಿಗೆ--ನಾನು ಬಹು ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದೇನೆ. ಕರ್ತನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಳುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಆತನ ಕರುಣೆಯು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿರುವದು; ಆದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಳಲಾರೆನು ಅಂದನು.

14 So Yahweh sent a pestilence on Israel; and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕರ್ತನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ವ್ಯಾಧಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು; ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರು ಸತ್ತುಹೋದರು.

15 God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was about to destroy, Yahweh saw, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the destroying angel, It is enough; now stay your hand. The angel of Yahweh was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.ಇದ ಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ದೇವರು ದೂತನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ನಾಶಮಾಡು ವದನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನು ನೋಡಿ ಆ ಕೇಡಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಪಶ್ಚಾ ತ್ತಾಪಪಟ್ಟು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವ ದೂತನಿಗೆ--ಸಾಕು; ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂದೆಗೆ ಅಂದನು. ಆದರೆ ಕರ್ತನ ದೂತನು ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯನಾದ ಒರ್ನಾನನ ಕಣದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದನು.

16 David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of Yahweh standing between earth and the sky, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನೆತ್ತಿ ಭೂಮಿಗೂ ಆಕಾಶಕ್ಕೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿರುವ ಕರ್ತನ ದೂತನನ್ನು ಕಂಡನು; ಅವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆರೂಸ ಲೇಮಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಚಾಚಿದ್ದ ಬಿಚ್ಚುಕತ್ತಿ ಇತ್ತು. ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ಗೋಣೀ ತಟ್ಟುಗಳಿಂದ ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡವರಾಗಿ ಮೋರೆ ಕೆಳಗಾಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದರು.

17 David said to God, Isn't it I who commanded the people to be numbered? It is even I who have sinned and done very wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand, O Yahweh my God, be against me, and against my father's house; but not against your people, that they should be plagued.ದಾವೀದನು ದೇವರಿಗೆ--ಜನರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಮಾಡಲು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದವನು ನಾನಲ್ಲವೋ? ನಾನೇ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಈ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಕುರಿಗಳಾದ ಇವರು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನು? ನನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನೇ, ದಯದಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಇರಲಿ. ಆದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರು ಬಾಧೆಪಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೇಡ ಅಂದನು.

18 Then the angel of Yahweh commanded Gad to tell David, that David should go up, and raise an altar to Yahweh in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನ ದೂತನು ಗಾದನಿಗೆ--ದಾವೀದನು ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯನಾದ ಒರ್ನಾನನ ಕಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಬಲಿಪೀಠವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವ ಹಾಗೆ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳು ಅಂದನು.

19 David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of Yahweh.ಗಾದನು ಕರ್ತನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತಿನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ದಾವೀದನು ಹೋದನು.

20 Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.ಆದರೆ ಒರ್ನಾನನು ಗೋಧಿಯನ್ನು ತುಳಿಸುತ್ತಿರು ವಾಗ ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ದೂತನನ್ನು ಕಂಡದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಅವನ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂದಿ ಕುಮಾರರೂ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.

21 As David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.ದಾವೀದನು ಒರ್ನಾನನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವನು ದೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿ ದಾವೀದ ನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಕಣದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ದಾವೀದನ ಮುಂದೆ ಮೋರೆ ಕೆಳಗಾಗಿ ನೆಲಕ್ಕೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬಿದ್ದನು.

22 Then David said to Ornan, Give me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build thereon an altar to Yahweh: for the full price shall you give it me, that the plague may be stayed from the people.ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಒರ್ನಾನನಿಗೆ--ಈ ಬಾಧೆಯು ಜನರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾನು ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಬಲಿ ಪೀಠವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ಕಣದ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣ ಕ್ರಯಕ್ಕೆ ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡು ಅಂದನು.

23 Ornan said to David, Take it to you, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: behold, I give [you] the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal-offering; I give it all.ಒರ್ನಾನನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ--ನಿನಗಾಗಿ ತಕ್ಕೋ; ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ತನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಿ. ಇಗೋ, ದಹನಬಲಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಎತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಗಳಿ ಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಹಂತಿಯ ಬಾತಿಮುಟ್ಟುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಆಹಾರದ ಅರ್ಪಣೆಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಗೋಧಿಯನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡುವದ ಲ್ಲದೆ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

24 King David said to Ornan, No; but I will most assuredly buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is your for Yahweh, nor offer a burnt-offering without cost.ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನು ಒರ್ನಾನನಿಗೆ--ಹಾಗಲ್ಲ, ಅದನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣ ಕ್ರಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನಿನ್ನದನ್ನು ನಾನು ತಕ್ಕೊಳ್ಳೆನು; ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಬಂದ ದಹನಬಲಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಾನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.

25 So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದಾವೀದನು ಒರ್ನಾನನಿಗೆ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಆರು ನೂರು ಶೇಕೆಲ್‌ ತೂಕ ಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

26 David built there an altar to Yahweh, and offered burnt offerings and peace-offerings, and called on Yahweh; and he answered him from the sky by fire on the altar of burnt offering.ದಾವೀದನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಬಲಿಪೀಠವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ದಹನ ಬಲಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸಮಾಧಾನದ ಬಲಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿ ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಆಗ ಆತನು ಆಕಾಶದಿಂದ ದಹನ ಬಲಿಪೀಠದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಗ್ನಿಯಿಂದ ಅವ ನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

27 Yahweh commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath of it.ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ದೂತನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಅದರ ಒರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ಹಾಕಿದನು.

28 At that time, when David saw that Yahweh had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯನಾದ ಒರ್ನಾನನ ಕಣದಲ್ಲಿ ತನಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನೆಂದು ದಾವೀದನು ಕಂಡಾಗ ಅವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದನು.

29 For the tent of Yahweh, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.ಅರಣ್ಯ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೋಶೆಯು ಮಾಡಿದ ಕರ್ತನ ಗುಡಾರವೂ ದಹನಬಲಿಪೀಠವೂ ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿನ ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದವು.

30 But David couldn't go before it to inquire of God; for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of Yahweh.ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನು ದೇವರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ವಿಚಾರಿಸಲು ಅದರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗ ಲಾರದೆ ಇದ್ದನು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಕರ್ತನ ದೂತನ ಕತ್ತಿಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಹೆದರಿದನು.
