ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದಾನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮೇರೆಯು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಾಲದಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗಿ ಲೆಷೆಮಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಲೆಷೆಮಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ದಾನನ ಹೆಸರಿನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ದಾನ್‌ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟರು.

to fight	וַיִּלָּֽחֲמ֨וּ	lāḥam	la-HAHM
against	עִם	ʿim	eem
Leshem,	לֶ֜שֶׁם	lešem	leh-SHEM
and took	וַיִּלְכְּד֥וּ	lākad	la-HAHD
	אוֹתָ֣הּ׀	ʾēt	ate
it, and smote	וַיַּכּ֧וּ	nākâ	na-HA
	אוֹתָ֣הּ	ʾēt	ate
it with the edge	לְפִי	pe	peh
of the sword,	חֶ֗רֶב	ḥereb	heh-REV
and possessed	וַיִּֽרְשׁ֤וּ	yāraš	ya-RAHSH
	אוֹתָהּ֙	ʾēt	ate
it, and dwelt	וַיֵּ֣שְׁבוּ	yāšab	ya-SHAHV
	בָ֔הּ
therein, and called	וַיִּקְרְא֤וּ	qārāʾ	ka-RA
Leshem,	לְלֶ֙שֶׁם֙	lešem	leh-SHEM
Dan,	דָּ֔ן	dān	dahn
after the name	כְּשֵׁ֖ם	šēm	shame
of Dan	דָּ֥ן	dān	dahn
