Joshua 4
1 ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರು ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿದಾಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವ ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ--
2 ನೀನು ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ಗೋತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬನಾಗಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು ಕೊಂಡು
3 ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾಜಕರ ಕಾಲುಗಳು ಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಆಚೇದಡಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದು ನೀವು ಈ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಇಳುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾ ಪಿಸು ಅಂದನು.
4 ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೊಂದು ಗೋತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ತಾನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಕರೆದನು.
5 ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನೀವು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಗೋತ್ರ ಗಳ ಲೆಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬನು ಒಂದೊಂದು ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಹೆಗಲ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿರಿ.
6 ಇದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಗುರುತಾಗಿರಬೇಕು; ಬರುವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಈ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳೇನೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ
7 ನೀವು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ನೀರು ಕರ್ತನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ವಿಭಾಗಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು; ಅದು ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟುವಾಗ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ನೀರು ಭೇದಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಾರ್ಥ ವಾದ ಗುರುತಾಗಿರುವವು ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.
8 ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು; ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳ ಲೆಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಮಧ್ಯದಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ತಂದು ತಾವು ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ದರು.
9 ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷವನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತ ಯಾಜಕರ ಕಾಲುಗಳು ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು. ಅವು ಈ ದಿನದ ವರೆಗೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇವೆ.
10 ಮೋಶೆಯು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಲು ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದೆಲ್ಲಾ ತೀರುವ ವರೆಗೂ ಮಂಜೂಷವನ್ನು ಹೊರುವ ಯಾಜಕರು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ನಡುವೆ ನಿಂತರು; ಜನರು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ದಾಟಿಹೋದರು.
11 ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ದಾಟಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕರ್ತನ ಮಂಜೂಷವೂ ಯಾಜಕರೂ ಜನರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಟಿದರು.
12 ರೂಬೇನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೂ ಗಾದನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೂ ಮನಸ್ಸೆಯ ಅರ್ಧ ಗೋತ್ರವೂ ಮೋಶೆಯು ತಮಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಯುದ್ಧಸನ್ನದ್ಧರಾಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮುಂದೆ ಹಾದುಹೋದರು.
13 ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧರಾಗಿ ಕರ್ತನ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆರಿಕೋವಿನ ಬೈಲುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಾದು ಹೋದರು.
14 ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವ ನನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರ ಮುಂದೆ ಘನಪಡಿಸಿದನು. ಅವರು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನು ಬದುಕಿದ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅವನಿಗೂ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
15 ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತ ನಾಡಿ --
16 ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷವನ್ನು ಹೊರುವ ಯಾಜಕರಿಗೆ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನಿಂದ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
17 ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಯಾಜಕರಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ--ಯೊರ್ದ ನಿನಿಂದ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
18 ಆಗ ಆದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ, ಕರ್ತನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷ ವನ್ನು ಹೊರುವ ಯಾಜಕರು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಮಧ್ಯ ದಲ್ಲಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮ ಪಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಒಣಗಿದ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಇಟ್ಟಾಗ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ನೀರು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಮೊದಲಿನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದಡಗಳ ಮೇಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹರಿಯಿತು.
19 ಜನರು ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ತಿಂಗಳಿನ ಹತ್ತನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಬಂದು ಯೆರಿಕೋವಿನ ಮೂಡಣ ಮೇರೆಯಾದ ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದು ಕೊಂಡರು.
20 ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದು ಕೊಂಡ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.
21 ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ--ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಈ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳು ಏನೆಂದು ಬರುವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ನೀವು ಅವರಿಗೆ
22 ತಿಳಿಸಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಒಣಗಿದ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಬಂದರು.
23 ಭೂಮಿಯ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕರ್ತನ ಹಸ್ತವು ಬಲವುಳ್ಳದ್ದೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಯುವ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ನೀವು ನಿರಂತರವೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡುವ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ
24 ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಕೆಂಪು ಸಮುದ್ರವನ್ನು ನಾವು ದಾಟುವ ಪರಿಯಂತರ ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಒಣಗಿ ಹೋಗಮಾಡಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ನೀವು ದಾಟಿ ಬರುವ ಪರಿಯಂತರ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ನೀರನ್ನು ಭಾಗ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
1 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the Lord spake unto Joshua, saying,
2 Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,
3 And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.
4 Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:
5 And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:
6 That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
7 Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
8 And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the Lord spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
9 And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.
10 For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until every thing was finished that the Lord commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.
11 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the Lord passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.
12 And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them:
13 About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the Lord unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.
14 On that day the Lord magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.
15 And the Lord spake unto Joshua, saying,
16 Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan.
17 Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of Jordan.
18 And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord were come up out of the midst of Jordan, and the soles of the priests’ feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did before.
19 And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.
20 And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal.
21 And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?
22 Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.
23 For the Lord your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:
24 That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the Lord your God for ever.
1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.
2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
3 And he went on his journeys from the south even to Beth-el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Hai;
4 Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.
5 And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.
7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.
9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
11 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.
14 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.
