ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಅಹೀಮೆಲೆಕನನ್ನೂ ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗ ನಾಗಿರುವ ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಅಬೀಷೈ ಯನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿ--ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ದಂಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿ ಸಲು ಬರುವವನು ಯಾರೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು; ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಬೀಷೈಯು--ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೂ ಅಬೀ ಷೈಯನಿಗೂ ಇತ್ತೈಗೂ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ--ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನಾದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅರಸನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕೊಟ್ಚ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಕೇಳಿದರು.

ಆಗ ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬೀಷೈಯು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ--ಈ ಸತ್ತ ನಾಯಿ, ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನನ್ನು ದೂಷಿಸುವದೇನು? ನಾನೇ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗಿ ಅವನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಲಿ ಅಂದನು.

ಇದು ಸಾಲದೆ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಇಂಥಿಂಥವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆನು. ನೀನು ಕರ್ತನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಈ ಕೆಟ್ಟಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಆತನ ಆಜ್ಞೆ ಯನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿದ್ದೇನು? ನೀನು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಯನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡಿ; ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಅಮ್ಮೋನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿಸಿದಿ.

ಆಗ ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಾರರು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಎಸೆದಕಾರಣ ಅರಸನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಸತ್ತರು; ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವ ಕನಾದ ಊರೀಯನೆಂಬ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನೂ ಸತ್ತನು ಅಂದನು.

ಅವರು ಗೋಡೆ ಯಿಂದ ಎಸೆಯುವರೆಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಯೆರುಬ್ಬೆಷೆತನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದ ವರಾರು? ತೇಬೇಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹೆಂಗಸು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಬೀಸುವ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ತುಂಡನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಕಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಸತ್ತನಲ್ಲವೇ? ನೀವು ಗೋಡೆಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ಸವಿಾಪವಾಗಿ ಹೋದದ್ದೇನು ಎಂದು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ಆಗ ನೀನು--ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕ ನಾದ ಊರೀಯನೆಂಬ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನು ಸತ್ತನೆಂದು ಹೇಳು ಅಂದನು.

ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸೆಂದು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಊರೀಯ ನನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
1 ಸಮುವೇಲನು 14:6
ಆಗ ಯೋನಾತಾನನು ತನ್ನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನಿಗೆ--ನಾವು ಈ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದವರ ಠಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗೋಣ ಬಾ; ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ದೇವರು ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಡಿಸುವನು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅನೇಕ ಜನರಿಂದಾದರೂ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜನರಿಂದಾದರೂ ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಆಟಂಕವಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.
