ಆಗ ದಂಡಿನ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿಯ ಸಕಲ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಭಯದಿಂದ ನಡುಕ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು. ಠಾಣದವರೂ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಗಾರರೂ ಹೆದರಿಕೊಂಡರು; ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಭೂಮಿ ಕಂಪಿಸಿತು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಳವಳವಾಯಿತು.
