ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಅಷ್ಡೋದಿನ ಜನರು ನೋಡಿ--ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇವರ ಮಂಜೂಷವು ನಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಬಾರದು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಆತನ ಕೈ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ದಾಗೋನನ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಕಠಿಣವಾಗಿದೆ ಅಂದರು.

ದಾವೀದನು ಆ ದಿನ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು--ಕರ್ತನ ಮಂಜೂಷವು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುವದು ಹೇಗೆ ಅಂದನು.

ತಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಂಹಾರವಾಗಿ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನು ಸಾಯಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ದುಃಖಪಟ್ಟು--ಈ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಲ್ಲತಕ್ಕವನಾರು? ನಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಆತನು ಹೋಗತಕ್ಕ ಸ್ಥಳ ಯಾವದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಆದರೆ ಅಷ್ಡೋದ್ಯರು ಮಾರನೆ ದಿವಸ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ದಾಗೋನ್ ಕರ್ತನ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ಬೋರಲು ಬಿದ್ದಿತ್ತು.

ನಮಗೆ ಅಯ್ಯೋ! ಆ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಿಯಾದ ದೇವರುಗಳ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸುವವನಾರು ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯರನ್ನು ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕಲ ಬಾಧೆಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದ ದೇವರುಗಳು ಇವರೇ.

ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯರು--ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಾಯುತ್ತೇವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ದೇಶದೊಳಗಿಂದ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಬಿಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಜನರನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಆಗ ಫರೋಹನ ಸೇವಕರು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಇವನು ಎಷ್ಟು ಕಾಲ ನಮಗೆ ಉರುಲಾಗಿರಬೇಕು. ಆ ಜನರು ತಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಡು. ಐಗುಪ್ತವು ನಾಶವಾಯಿ ತೆಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ತಿಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದರು.
ವಿಮೋಚನಕಾಂಡ 9:28
ಆದದರಿಂದ (ಈಗ ಇದು ಸಾಕು.) ಇನ್ನು ಬಲವಾದ ಗುಡುಗುಗಳೂ ಆನೆಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಮಳೆಯೂ ನಿಂತುಹೋಗುವಂತೆ ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ, ನೀವು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನು ಇರದಂತೆ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಫರೋಹನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನರ್ಪಿಸುವಂತೆ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿ ಸುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಆದರೆ ದೂರ ಹೋಗಬೇಡಿರಿ; ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮಾಡಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.

ನಿನ್ನ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ದ್ರವ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇಟ್ಟದ್ದ ರಿಂದ ನೀನು ಸಹ ಹಿಡಿಯಲ್ಪಡುವಿ; ಕೆಮೋಷನು, ಅವನ ಯಾಜಕರು, ಪ್ರಧಾನರು ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಸೆರೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುವರು.
