ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅರಸನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದೆನು; ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನಾದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮ ನನ್ನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ ಅಂದನು.

ನನ್ನ ಕುಮಾರನಾದ ಯೋನಾತಾನ ನಿಂದಾದರೂ ಉಂಟಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವನು ಸಾಯಲೇ ಸಾಯುವನೆಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಕರ್ತನ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು. ಆದರೆ ಸಕಲ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ದುಃಖಪಟ್ಟನು; ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ತನ್ನ ಆಣೆಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿಯೂ ತನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೂತಿದ್ದವರ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಅವಳನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದವನಾದನು.
