ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಶೆಕೆಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಗೋತ್ರದವರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥ ರನ್ನೂ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕರೆಸಿದನು. ಅವರು ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಂದು ನಿಂತರು.

ಆದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕೇಡುಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟುಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರನ್ನು ನೀವು ಈ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿ ಆತನಿಗೆ--ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಿರಿ. ಆದದ ರಿಂದ ಈಗ ಕರ್ತನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರವಾಗಿಯೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಹಸ್ರಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರವಾ ಗಿಯೂ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
ಆದಿಕಾಂಡ 12:6
ಅಬ್ರಾಮನು ಆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಶೆಕೆಮ್ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳದ ಮೋರೆಯೆಂಬ ಮೈದಾನದ ವರೆಗೆ ಹಾದು ಹೋದನು. ಆಗ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದರು.

ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಶೆಕೆಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಅರಸನಾಗ ಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಶೆಕೆಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.

ಆದಕಾರಣ ನಾನು ತಡಮಾಡದೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದೆನು. ನೀನು ಬಂದದ್ದು ಒಳ್ಳೇದಾಯಿತು. ಹೀಗಿರುವದರಿಂದ ಕರ್ತನು ನಿನಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾತು ಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರು ಈಗ ದೇವರ ಸನ್ನಿಧಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಅಂದನು.
