ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ പസ്-ദമ്മീമിൽ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു കൂടിയപ്പോൾ അവൻ അവിടെ ദാവീദിനോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവിടെ യവം നിറഞ്ഞ ഒരു വയൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; പടജ്ജനം ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഓടിപ്പോയി.

to battle, לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה milḥāmâ meel-ha-MA
where was וַתְּהִ֛י hāyâ ha-YA
a parcel חֶלְקַ֥ת ḥelqâ hel-KA
of ground הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה śāde sa-DEH
full מְלֵאָ֣ה mālēʾ ma-LAY
of barley; שְׂעוֹרִ֑ים śĕʿōrâ seh-oh-RA
and the people וְהָעָ֥ם ʿam am
fled נָ֖סוּ nûs noos
from before מִפְּנֵ֥י pānîm pa-NEEM
the Philistines. פְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ pĕlištî peh-leesh-TEE
