ദാവീദ് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടുകൂടെ ശൌലിന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു ചെന്നപ്പോൾ മനശ്ശേയരിൽ ചിലരും അവനോടു ചേർന്നു; അവർ അവർക്കു തുണ ചെയ്തില്ലതാനും; ഫെലിസ്ത്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ ആലോചിച്ചിട്ടു: അവൻ നമ്മുടെ തലയുംകൊണ്ടു തന്റെ യജമാനനായ ശൌലിന്റെ പക്ഷം തിരിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ അയച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

the Philistines פְּלִשְׁתִּ֧ים pĕlištî peh-leesh-TEE
against עַל ʿal al
Saul שָׁא֛וּל šāʾûl sha-OOL
to battle: לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה milḥāmâ meel-ha-MA
them not: וְלֹ֣א lōʾ loh
but they helped עֲזָרֻ֑ם ʿāzar ah-ZAHR
for כִּ֣י kî kee
upon advisement בְעֵצָ֗ה ʿēṣâ ay-TSA
sent שִׁלְּחֻ֜הוּ šālaḥ sha-LAHK
the lords סַרְנֵ֤י seren seh-REN
of the Philistines פְלִשְׁתִּים֙ pĕlištî peh-leesh-TEE
him away, saying, לֵאמֹ֔ר ʾāmar ah-MAHR
to our heads. בְּרָאשֵׁ֕ינוּ rōš rohsh
He will fall יִפּ֖וֹל nāpal na-FAHL
to אֶל ʾēl ale
his master אֲדֹנָ֥יו ʾādôn ah-DONE
Saul שָׁאֽוּל׃ šāʾûl sha-OOL
