അവരോടു അവൻ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു അവന്റെ മൂത്ത ജ്യേഷ്ഠൻ എലീയാബ് കേട്ടു ദാവീദിനോടു കോപിച്ചു: നീ ഇവിടെ എന്തിന്നു വന്നു? മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ആ കുറെ ആടുള്ളതു നീ ആരുടെ പക്കൽ വിട്ടേച്ചുപോന്നു? നിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരവും നിഗളഭാവവും എനിക്കറിയാം; പട കാണ്മാനല്ലേ നീ വന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

unto	אֶל	ʾēl	ale
the men;	הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֑ים	ʾîš	eesh
was kindled	וַיִּֽחַר	ḥārâ	ha-RA
anger	אַף֩	ʾap	af
and Eliab's	אֱלִיאָ֨ב	ʾĕlîʾāb	ay-lee-AV
against David,	בְּדָוִ֜ד	dāwid	da-VEED
and he said,	וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀	ʾāmar	ah-MAHR
Why	לָמָּה	mâ	ma
	זֶּ֣ה	ze	zeh
camest thou down	יָרַ֗דְתָּ	yārad	ya-RAHD
hither? and with	וְעַל	ʿal	al
whom	מִ֨י	mî	mee
hast thou left	נָטַ֜שְׁתָּ	nāṭaš	na-TAHSH
few	מְעַ֨ט	mĕʿaṭ	meh-AT
sheep	הַצֹּ֤אן	ṣōn	tsone
those	הָהֵ֙נָּה֙	hēnnâ	hay-NA
in the wilderness?	בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר	midbār	meed-BAHR
I	אֲנִ֧י	ʾănî	uh-NEE
know	יָדַ֣עְתִּי	yādaʿ	ya-DA
	אֶת	ʾēt	ate
thy pride,	זְדֹֽנְךָ֗	zādôn	za-DONE
	וְאֵת֙	ʾēt	ate
and the naughtiness	רֹ֣עַ	rōaʿ	ROH-ah
of thine heart;	לְבָבֶ֔ךָ	lēbāb	lay-VAHV
for	כִּ֗י	kî	kee
that	לְמַ֛עַן	maʿan	ma-AN
thou mightest see	רְא֥וֹת	rāʾâ	ra-AH
