അതിന്നു ശൌൽ: രാജാവിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കൾക്കു പ്രതികാരം ആകുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ നൂറു അഗ്രചർമ്മമല്ലാതെ രാജാവു യാതൊരു സ്ത്രീധനവും ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾ ദാവീദിനോടു പറയേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യാൽ ദാവീദിനെ വീഴുമാറാക്കേണമെന്നു ശൌൽ കരുതിയിരുന്നു.

shall ye say תֹאמְר֣וּ ʾāmar ah-MAHR
to David, לְדָוִ֗ד dāwid da-VEED
not אֵֽין ʾayin ah-YEEN
desireth חֵ֤פֶץ ḥēpeṣ hay-FETS
The king לַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ melek meh-LEK
any dowry, בְּמֹ֔הַר mōhar moh-HAHR
but כִּ֗י kî kee
an hundred בְּמֵאָה֙ mēʾâ may-AH
foreskins עָרְל֣וֹת ʿorlâ ore-LA
of the Philistines, פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים pĕlištî peh-leesh-TEE
to be avenged לְהִנָּקֵ֖ם nāqam na-KAHM
enemies. בְּאֹֽיְבֵ֣י ʾōyēb oh-YAVE
of the king's הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ melek meh-LEK
But Saul וְשָׁא֣וּל šāʾûl sha-OOL
thought חָשַׁ֔ב ḥāšab ha-SHAHV
fall לְהַפִּ֥יל nāpal na-FAHL
to make אֶת ʾēt ate
David דָּוִ֖ד dāwid da-VEED
by the hand בְּיַד yād yahd
of the Philistines. פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ pĕlištî peh-leesh-TEE
