Exodus 5:1
അതിന്റെശേഷം മോശെയും അഹരോനും ചെന്നു ഫറവോനോടു: മരുഭൂമിയിൽ എനിക്കു ഉത്സവം കഴിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ ജനത്തെ വിട്ടയക്കേണം എന്നിപ്രകാരം യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
0 A Song of degrees.
1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.
3 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

| the Lord | יְהוָה֙ | yĕhwāh | yeh-VA |
| God | אֱלֹהֵ֣י | ʾĕlōhê | ay-loh-HAY |
| Israel, of | יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל | yiśrāʾēl | yees-ra-ALE |
| Let | שַׁלַּח֙ | šallaḥ | sha-LAHK |
| my people | אֶת | ʾet | et |
| go, | עַמִּ֔י | ʿammî | ah-MEE |
| feast a hold may they that | וְיָחֹ֥גּוּ | wĕyāḥōggû | veh-ya-HOH-ɡoo |
| unto me in the wilderness. | לִ֖י | lî | lee |
