അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ മോവാബിലും അമ്മോന്യരുടെ ഇടയിലും എദോമിലും മറ്റു ദേശങ്ങളിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാ യെഹൂദന്മാരും ബാബേൽരാജാവു യെഹൂദയിൽ ഒരു ശേഷിപ്പിനെ വെച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും ശാഫാന്റെ മകനായ അഹീക്കാമിന്റെ മകൻ ഗെദല്യാവെ അവർക്കു അധിപതിയാക്കീട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും കേട്ടപ്പോൾ

and that וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר ʾăšer uh-SHER
in all בְּכָל kōl kole
the countries, הָֽאֲרָצוֹת֙ ʾereṣ eh-RETS
heard שָֽׁמְע֔וּ šāmaʿ sha-MA
that כִּֽי kî kee
had left נָתַ֧ן nātan na-TAHN
the king מֶֽלֶךְ melek meh-LEK
of Babylon בָּבֶ֛ל bābel ba-VEL
a remnant שְׁאֵרִ֖ית šĕʾērît sheh-ay-REET
of Judah, לִֽיהוּדָ֑ה yĕhûdâ yeh-hoo-DA
and that וְכִי֙ kî kee
he had set הִפְקִ֣יד pāqad pa-KAHD
over עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם ʿal al
them אֶת ʾēt ate
Gedaliah גְּדַלְיָ֖הוּ gĕddalyâ ɡeh-dahl-YA
the son בֶּן bēn bane
of Ahikam אֲחִיקָ֥ם ʾăḥîqām uh-hee-KAHM
the son בֶּן bēn bane
of Shaphan; שָׁפָֽן׃ šāpān sha-FAHN
