നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ യിശ്മായേൽ അഹീക്കാമിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞശേഷം, അവന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു കാരേഹിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹാനാനും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാപടത്തലവന്മാരും വിടുവിച്ച ജനശിഷ്ടത്തെ ഒക്കെയും, ഗിബെയോനിൽനിന്നു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പടയാളികളെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും ഷണ്ഡന്മാരെയും തന്നേ, അവർ മിസ്പയിൽനിന്നു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു,

the remnant	שְׁאֵרִ֤ית	šĕʾērît	sheh-ay-REET
of the people	הָעָם֙	ʿam	am
whom	אֲשֶׁ֣ר	ʾăšer	uh-SHER
he had recovered	הֵ֠שִׁיב	šûb	shoov
from	מֵאֵ֨ת	ʾēt	ate
Ishmael	יִשְׁמָעֵ֤אל	yišmāʿēl	yeesh-ma-ALE

of Nethaniah,	נְתַנְיָה֙	nĕtanyâ	neh-tahn-YA
from	מִן	min	meen
Mizpah,	הַמִּצְפָּ֔ה	miṣpâ	meets-PA
after	אַחַ֣ר	ʾaḥar	ah-HAHR
he had slain	הִכָּ֔ה	nākâ	na-HA
	אֶת	ʾēt	ate
Gedaliah	גְּדַלְיָ֖ה	gĕddalyâ	ɡeh-dahl-YA
the son	בֶּן	bēn	bane
of Ahikam,	אֲחִיקָ֑ם	ʾăḥîqām	uh-hee-KAHM
mighty	גְּבָרִ֞ים	geber	ɡeh-VER
men	אַנְשֵׁ֣י	ʾîš	eesh
of war,	הַמִּלְחָמָ֗ה	milḥāmâ	meel-ha-MA
