ആരവാരം അധികമാകുന്നതല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും സാധിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് കണ്ടിട്ടുവെള്ളം എടുത്തു പുരുഷാരം കാൺകെ കൈ കഴുകി: ഈ നീതിമാന്റെ രക്തത്തിൽ എനിക്കു കുറ്റം ഇല്ല; നിങ്ങൾ തന്നേ നോക്കിക്കൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
