தாவீதின் நாட்களில் மூன்று வருடங்கள் தீராத பஞ்சம் உண்டாயிருந்தது; அப்பொழுது தாவீது கர்த்தருடைய முகத்தைத் தேடினான். கர்த்தர்: கிபியோனியர்களைக் கொன்றுபோட்ட சவுலுக்காகவும், இரத்தப்பிரியரான அவன் குடும்பத்தாருக்காகவும் இது உண்டானது என்றார்.

தாவீது அரசனாக இருந்தபோது ஒரு பஞ்சம் வந்தது. இம்முறை பஞ்சம் மூன்று ஆண்டுகள் நீடித்தது. தாவீது கர்த்தரிடம் ஜெபம் செய்தான். கர்த்தரும் அவனுக்குப் பதில் தந்தார். கர்த்தர், “சவுலும் கொலைக்காரரான அவனது குடும்பத்தாரும் இப்பஞ்சத்திற்குக் காரணமானார்கள். இப்பஞ்சம் சவுல் கிபியோனியரைக் கொன்றதால் வந்ததாகும்” என்றார்.
