Genesis 39
1 जुन व्यापारीले यूसुफलाई किन्यो उनले यूसुफलाई मिश्र देशमा लिएर गए। उनले यूसुफलाई फिरऊनको अगंरक्षकहरूको सेनापतिलाई बेचिदियो।
2 तर परमप्रभुले यूसुफलाई सहायता गर्नु भयो। यूसुफ एउटा सफल मानिस भयो। यूसुफ आफ्नो मिश्री मालिक पोतीफरको घरमा बस्यो।
3 पोतीफरले थाहा पायो परमप्रभुले यूसुफलाई सहायता गर्नु भएको छ। उनले यो पनि थाहा पायो यूसुफले जे गर्छ त्यसमा उसलाई सफल पार्न परमप्रभुले सहायता गर्नु भएको हुन्छ।
4 यसकारण यूसुफलाई पाएर पोतीफर अत्यन्तै खुशी थियो। पोतीफरले उसलाई आफ्नो काम गराउन तथा घरमा व्यवस्था मिलाउने काममा लगायो। पोतीफरको प्रत्येक कुरोमा उसको अधिकार थियो।
5 जब यूसुफ पोतीफरको घरमा प्रत्येक चीजको अधिकारी बनियो तब परमप्रभुले पोतीफरको घरमा रहेको प्रत्येक चीजमा आशीर्वाद दिनुभयो। परमप्रभुले यूसुफको कारणले यसो गर्नु भयो अनि पोतीफरको खेतीमा उब्जने प्रत्येक चीजलाई परमप्रभुले आशीर्वाद दिनु भयो।
6 यसैले पोतीफरले यूसुफलाई आफ्नो घरको प्रत्येक चीजको जिम्मावारी लगायो। पोतीफरले कुनै कुराको चिन्ता गर्दैनथ्यो ऊ खाली आफ्नो भोजनको विषयमा मात्र चिन्ता गर्दथ्यो।यूसुफ अत्यन्तै सुन्दर र राम्रो थियो।
7 केही समयपछि यूसुफको मालिककी पत्नीले उसलाई प्रेम गर्न थालीन्। एकदिन उनले भनिन्, “मसँग सुत्।”
8 तर यूसुफ मानेन। उनले भने, “मेरो मालिक यस घरको प्रत्येक चीजको निम्ति मलाई विश्वास गर्छन। उनले यस घरको प्रत्येक चीजको लागि मलाई जिम्मावारी दिएका छन्।
9 मेरा मालिकले मलाई आफू समान सम्झन्छन्। तर मैले उसकी पत्नीसित सुत्नु हुँदैन। यो उचित होइन। यो परमेश्वरको बिरूद्धमा पाप हो।”
10 त्यो स्त्रीले प्रत्येक दिननै यूसुफसित कुरा गर्थी। तर यूसुफले ऊसित सुत्न अस्वीकार गर्दथियो।
11 एक दिन यूसुफ आफ्नो कामको निम्ति घरभित्र पसेको थियो। त्यस बेला लोग्ने मानिस त्यस घरमा ऊ मात्रै थियो।
12 उसका मालिककी पत्नीले यूसुफको लुगा समाती अनि उसलाई भनी, “तिमी मसित ओछ्यानमा आऊ।” तर यूसुफ त्यहाँबाट यति चाँडो भाग्यो कि उसको लुगा मालिककी पत्नीको हातमा नै रह्यो।
13 त्यस मानिसकि पत्नीले देखी उसको लुगा उसैको हातैमा थियो अनि यूसुफ घरदेखि बाहिर भागेर गए। यसर्थ उनले निश्चय गरी जे भएको थियो त्यस विषयमा झूटो प्रचार गर्नुपर्छ।
14 ऊ बाहिरका मानिसहरूलाई बोलाउन गई। उनले भनी, “हेर, यो हिब्रू कमारा हाम्रो बेइज्जत गर्न यहाँ आएको थियो। ऊ भित्र आयो अनि मसित सुत्ने कोशिश गर्यो, तर म साह्रै चिच्याएँ।
15 म चिच्चाएकोले गर्दा त्यो डरायो अनि यहाँबाट भाग्यो। तर उनले आफ्नो कोट मसितै छोडेर गयो।”
16 यसकारण उनले आफ्नो लोग्ने घर फर्कुन्जेलसम्म त्यो लुगा आफूसँगै राखी।
17 अनि उनले आफ्नो लोग्नेलाई त्यही कथा सुनाई। उनले भनिन, “तिमीले ल्याएको हिब्रू दासले मसित ब्यभिचार गरेर लज्जित पार्यो।
18 जब ऊ मकहाँ आयो म चिच्चाएँ अनि त्यो भाग्यो तर त्यसले आफ्नो लुगा छोडेर गयो।”
19 जति बेला यूसुफको मालिकले कथा सुने, तिनी साह्रै नै रिसाए।
20 त्यहाँ एउटा झ्यालखाना थियो अनि त्यसमा राजाका शत्रुहरूलाई राखिन्थ्यो। पोतीफरले यूसुफलाई त्यही झ्यालखानामा राख्यो अनि यूसुफ त्यही बसिरह्यो।
21 तर परमप्रभु यूसुफसित हुनुहुन्थ्यो। उहाँ संधै ऊसंग दयालु हुनुहुन्थ्यो।
22 उहाँले अरू कैदीहरूको प्रमुख यूसुफलाई बनाए अनि एक रक्षकबाट गरिनु पर्ने प्रत्येक कुरो तिनलाई गर्न लगाए।
23 रक्षकहरूका अधिकारीले झ्यालखानको सबै कुराहरूमा यूसुफमाथि विश्वास गर्थे। यस्तो यसकारण हुने भयो कारण परमप्रभुले यूसुफलाई सहायता गर्नुहुन्थ्यो। यूसुफले जे गर्थ्यो परमप्रभुले उसलाई सफल गराउनु हुन्थ्यो।
1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.
2 And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
3 And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
6 And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.
7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.
8 But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;
9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.
12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
13 And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,
14 That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:
15 And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.
16 And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.
17 And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:
18 And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.
19 And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.
20 And Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.
21 But the Lord was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.
23 The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the Lord was with him, and that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper.

1 ਮੁੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਚੀ ਇਹ ਉਸ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕੈਦ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤੇ ਸਨ। ਬਾਬਲ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਵਜੋ ਬਾਬਲ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਮੁੜ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤਿਆ।

59 ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਲ-ਮੇਹਲ, ਤੇਲ-ਹਰਸਾ, ਕਰੂਬ, ਅਦ੍ਦਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਮੇਰ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਸਾਬਿਤ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਸੱਕੇ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਨ।
And these were they which went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsa, Cherub, Addan, and Immer: but they could not shew their father’s house, and their seed, whether they were of Israel:

The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred fifty and two.
61 ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਇਉਂ ਸਨ: ਹੱਬਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ, ਹਕੋਸ਼ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ, ਬਰਜ਼ਿਲਈ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ (ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਦਮੀ ਗਿਲਆਦ ਦੇ ਬਰਜਿਲਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਬਰਜਿਲਈ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।)
And of the children of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai; which took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name:
62 ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨਣਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਖੋਜ ਨਾ ਸੱਕੇ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਫਹਰਿਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਜ ਨਹੀ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਉਹ ਸਾਬਿਤ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਸੱਕੇ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਖੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਸਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
63 ਤਦ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਦ ਤੀਕ ਓੱਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਜਕ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜੋ ਉਰੀਮ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਂਮੀਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਨਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੱਕੇ ਤਦ ਤੀਕ ਉਹ ਅੱਤ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਖਾਣ।”
And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.
64 ਕੁਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਆਏ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 42,360 ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ 7,337 ਦਾਸ ਤੇ ਦਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਣੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ 200 ਗਾਇੱਕ ਤੇ ਗਾਇੱਕਾਵਾਂ ਵੀ ਸਨ।
The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,

Beside their servants and their maids, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and there were among them two hundred singing men and singing women.
66 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ 736 ਘੋੜੇ, 245 ਖਚ੍ਚਰ, 435 ਊਠ ਅਤੇ 6,720 ਖੋਤੇ ਸਨ।
Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five;

Their camels, four hundred thirty and five; their asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68 ਜਦ ਉਹ ਸਮੂਹ ਯੋਹਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਜਿਆ ਤ੍ਤਦ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਲਈ ਤੋਂਹਫੇ ਭੇਂਟ ਕੀਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਬਾਵੇਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਬਾਂਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਨਵਾਂ ਮੰਦਰ ਉਸਾਰ ਸੱਕਣ।
And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the Lord which is at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in his place:
69 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਤ੍ਤ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ। ਜੋ ਭੇਟਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ 500 ਕਿਲ ਸੋਨਾ, 3,000 ਕਿੱਲੋ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਨਣ ਲਈ 100 ਚੋਗੇ।
They gave after their ability unto the treasure of the work threescore and one thousand drams of gold, and five thousand pound of silver, and one hundred priests’ garments.
70 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਜਾਜਕ, ਲੇਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ’ਚ ਜਾਕੇ ਵਸ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਟੋਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਵਯ੍ਯੇ, ਦਰਬਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ। ਬਾਕੀ ਦੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੁਦ ਦੇ ਨਗਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸ ਗਏ।
So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
